Services Offered

Oakdale Bark Park provides essential services and amenities designed to ensure a safe, clean, and enjoyable experience for both dogs and their owners. These offerings underscore the park's commitment to a well-maintained off-leash environment:

  • Separate Large and Small Dog Areas: A key service is the provision of two distinct, fenced-in play areas: one specifically for smaller dogs and another for larger dogs. This separation helps ensure the safety and comfort of all canine visitors, allowing them to play with peers of similar size and energy levels.

  • Pet Waste Bags and Trash Cans: To promote cleanliness and responsible pet ownership, the park provides readily available pet waste bags and conveniently placed trash cans. This makes it easy for owners to clean up after their dogs, helping maintain a hygienic environment for all users.

  • Drinking Water Access: The park makes water available for dogs, which is a crucial amenity, especially during warmer months. This thoughtful provision ensures your furry friend can stay hydrated during their active playtime.

  • Benches and Tables: For the comfort of human companions, the park is equipped with benches and tables. These seating options provide a comfortable place for owners to rest, supervise their dogs, or simply enjoy the park's atmosphere.

Features / Highlights

Oakdale Bark Park stands out with several features and highlights that enhance the overall experience for its visitors:

  • Mix of Trees and Open Space: The park boasts a fantastic combination of wooded areas and open spaces. This provides diverse environments for dogs to explore – from running freely in wide-open fields to sniffing around under the shade of trees. The presence of numerous trees offers natural shade, which is a welcome relief on sunny Minnesota days.

  • Well-Groomed Walking Trail: A notable feature is the walking trail that extends around the perimeter of the park. This trail is covered in wood chips and is consistently well-groomed, offering a pleasant and comfortable surface for owners to walk or jog while their dogs play off-leash. The trail even includes a slight hill in one direction, adding a bit of varied terrain to the human exercise.

  • Double Gate Transition Area: For enhanced security and to prevent accidental escapes, the park utilizes a double gate transition area at its entrance. This design ensures that dogs are safely contained as they enter and exit the off-leash areas.

  • No Permit Required: Unlike some regional dog parks in Minnesota, Oakdale Bark Park is free to use, and **no permit or pass is required**. This makes it an incredibly accessible and welcoming option for all dog owners, encouraging more frequent visits.

  • Open All Year Round: The park is open year-round, allowing dogs and owners to enjoy the off-leash space in all four distinct Minnesota seasons, from crisp fall days to snowy winter outings (weather permitting for safe travel, of course).

  • Low-Maintenance Park: Due to an underground pipeline, the lawn cannot be mowed, which might give it a more natural, less manicured feel in certain areas. This contributes to its overall low-maintenance nature while still providing functional space.

Promotions or Special Offers

As a public dog park managed by the City of Oakdale, **Oakdale Bark Park** operates under the premise of providing a valuable community service rather than running commercial promotions. Therefore, you won't find traditional "special offers" or discounts as you might with a private business. The most significant ongoing "promotion" is the fact that **no permit or pass is required to use the park**, making it completely free for all visitors. This removes a common barrier to access that exists at some other dog parks in the Minnesota region, offering tremendous value to local dog owners.

While there aren't direct promotions, the City of Oakdale's Parks and Recreation department sometimes hosts community events that may be dog-friendly or related to pet ownership. It's always a good idea to check the City of Oakdale's official website or community calendar for any upcoming events that might be relevant to dog owners.

Perfect small size dog park with area for small dog and large dogs or both. I bring my dog every day. You can walk in a loop several times and there is a slight hill one way. They provide poop bags and water is available

Very clean park with toys to share and lots of water options. I will say it's on the smaller side, but great for a quick break off leash for the dogs.

Medium sized park that is very well maintained. Wide path all the way around with wood chips. Open area by the entrance. There were even ball throwers at the picnic table. Not super big but we did a few laps to get the exercise in. No water access to worry about blue green algae or anything.
