This is a pretty solid dog park. It's free. Usually when I go there is nobody else there. They have some jumps and obstacles. They have plenty of tennis balls lying around to throw around with your dog. They even have a few tennis rackets hanging up so you can really let a ball soar. My only complaint is that there is no grass. The entire ground is wood chips.

Visitors consistently share positive feedback about their experiences here. One happy patron noted, "This is a pretty solid dog park. It's free. Usually when I go there is nobody else there. They have some jumps and obstacles. They have plenty of tennis balls lying around to throw around with your dog. They even have a few tennis rackets hanging up so you can really let a ball soar." This review perfectly captures the relaxed atmosphere and the thoughtful provision of equipment that enhances playtime. The availability of tennis rackets to launch balls further allows high-energy dogs to get excellent exercise.

Another local echoed the sentiment, stating, "Super fun place to take your dog for some free roaming exercise! There are tennis balls, rackets, and dog bowls for people and their pups to use freely! Plenty of fun people to meet and cool dogs to see! There's even an agility course you can train your dog in! I just wish there was some hand sanitizer though." This highlights the park's playful amenities, the positive social environment, and the presence of an agility course for those looking to train or simply have fun with their dogs. While the ground being entirely wood chips is a common comment, the overall experience is overwhelmingly positive for those seeking a vibrant, free off-leash area in Stillwater.

Location and Accessibility

The Stillwater MN Dog Park is conveniently located at 1900 Myrtle St W, Stillwater, MN 55082, USA. This accessible location makes it a prime spot for dog owners residing in Stillwater, Oak Park Heights, Bayport, Lake Elmo, and other nearby communities in Washington County. Its position at the intersection of County Rd 12 and Deerpath, adjacent to the JC Ball Fields, makes it easy to find and navigate to.

The park is generally open from 8:00 a.m. to Sunset, providing ample hours for visitors to enjoy the facilities. While specific opening and closing times can vary seasonally, this broad window allows for both morning and evening visits. There is typically sufficient parking available, allowing for convenient access to the park's entrance.

A significant advantage of the Stillwater MN Dog Park is that it is free to use. Unlike some other regional dog parks, a special permit or pass from a park district is not required for entry, making it highly accessible for all local residents. However, it is essential that dogs wear collars with licenses and proof of rabies vaccination, and owners should carry this information with them. While the park is off-leash within its designated area, dogs must be leashed in the parking area and when entering or exiting the off-leash area (in transitional corridors) for safety.

Services Offered

Stillwater MN Dog Park focuses on providing a fun, free, and engaging off-leash environment with various amenities to enhance playtime for dogs and convenience for owners.

  • Fenced Off-Leash Area: The park provides a securely fenced space where dogs can run and play freely without needing to be on a leash (once inside the designated area).
  • Agility Course/Obstacles: Dedicated jumps and various obstacles are available, allowing dogs to engage in agility training, practice commands, or simply enjoy some playful challenges.
  • Provided Tennis Balls & Rackets: A unique and highly praised feature is the abundance of shared tennis balls and even a few tennis rackets hanging up for public use. This allows owners to truly launch balls and provide great exercise.
  • Dog Bowls: Shared dog bowls are available for pups to get a drink, though owners should consider bringing their own water, especially during warmer weather.
  • Waste Disposal: The park provides a dumpster for waste disposal, and owners are responsible for cleaning up after their dogs. While specific mention of provided waste bags isn't universal, it's always wise for owners to bring their own.
  • Open Space for Free Roaming: Beyond the agility equipment, there's ample space for dogs to simply run, chase, and socialize freely.
  • Free Access: A major benefit is that there is no fee or special permit required for entry, making it accessible to all Stillwater area residents.

Features / Highlights

The Stillwater MN Dog Park offers several key features that make it a local favorite among dog owners:

  • Free Entry: The absence of a fee or permit requirement makes it a highly accessible and welcoming option for all residents.
  • Engaging Agility Equipment: The presence of jumps and various obstacles provides structured fun and training opportunities for dogs.
  • Shared Tennis Balls & Rackets: This thoughtful amenity allows for energetic play without owners needing to bring their own equipment, making it convenient. The rackets allow for powerful throws, which high-energy dogs appreciate.

  • Generally Not Overly Crowded: One reviewer noted "usually when I go there is nobody else there," suggesting it can often offer a more private experience compared to some busier metro dog parks, though this can vary.
  • Responsible Pet Owner Community: The provision of amenities like shared bowls and waste bins, along with the friendly atmosphere, points to a community of responsible and considerate dog owners.

Any community-wide events or initiatives related to pet wellness or park improvements would typically be announced through the City of Stillwater's official channels, such as their Parks and Recreation department website or local community calendars.

The "special offers" here are the ongoing availability of shared equipment like tennis balls and rackets, which are maintained by the community and volunteers, adding to the park's appeal without any direct cost to the user.

It's very small, but a good basic. Park.

Friendly, smaller dog park. Still had plenty of room to run for the pups. Covered table had balls for throwing and water bowls were also a available. Bring your own water just to be sure. I didn't see a water source nearby.

Smaller than I thought it was going to be but we had a great time and the puppy parents were super friendly.
