Great park. There's a shed, fire hydrant, tunnel... during warm months last year there was a functional water fountain with an attached bowl for dogs. The portapotty was warmer months only as well. Pretty strict on no smoking there and cleaning up after your dog ...

Mauston Dog Park offers a range of services and amenities designed to enhance the experience for both dogs and their owners. While some services may be seasonal, the park strives to provide a comfortable and engaging environment:

  • Separate Area for Smaller Dogs: A significant and much-appreciated feature of Mauston Dog Park is its dedicated section for smaller dogs. This separate area provides a safer and less overwhelming environment for more diminutive breeds, allowing them to play freely without the potential for intimidation by larger, more boisterous dogs. This thoughtful design ensures that dogs of all sizes can enjoy their time at the park.
  • Seasonal Water Supply: During the warmer months, the park has historically provided a functional water fountain with an attached bowl for dogs, ensuring they stay hydrated during their playtime. While this amenity is seasonal and its operational status can vary, it's a valuable addition when active. Visitors are always encouraged to bring their own water and bowl as a backup, especially on hot days.
  • Portable Restroom Facilities (Seasonal): For the convenience of human visitors, a portapotty has been available during warmer months. This seasonal amenity adds to the comfort of longer visits to the park.
  • Waste Stations (Varying Availability): The park aims to promote responsible pet ownership, and while not explicitly listed as always available, the expectation is for owners to clean up after their dogs. It's advisable to bring your own waste bags to ensure you can properly dispose of your dog's waste. The park's cleanliness is a shared responsibility of its users.
  • Unique Play Structures: The park features a shed, a fire hydrant replica, and a tunnel, adding elements of novelty and enrichment to the dogs' play experience. These structures provide opportunities for climbing, exploring, and engaging in various forms of play, stimulating both physical and mental activity.

Mauston Dog Park boasts several features that make it a compelling choice for dog owners in the Wisconsin region:

  • Spacious and Open Layout: The park is described as "a nice large size," providing ample room for dogs to run, sprint, and play fetch. This expansive area ensures that even high-energy dogs have enough space to burn off steam.
  • Dedicated Small Dog Area: As highlighted in reviews, the separate area for smaller dogs is a significant advantage, offering a safe haven for petite pups to socialize and exercise without feeling overwhelmed by larger companions.
  • Varied Play Equipment: The presence of a shed, fire hydrant, and tunnel adds diverse elements to the play environment, encouraging exploration and different forms of interaction for the dogs. These features contribute to a more enriching park experience compared to a simple open field.
  • Community Atmosphere: While cleanliness can sometimes be an issue due to varying owner diligence, the park frequently hosts friendly encounters between dogs and their owners. Reviews mention "Friendly beauties Great Danes, Eleanor and ? Eloise? amazing beautiful ladies, and real friendly girls two beagles. And a standard size GoldenDoodle and a mini golden doodle puppy had the best time running free, playing fetch, with balls," highlighting the positive social interactions that frequently occur. The park serves as a meeting point for local dog lovers.
  • Emphasis on Rules (No Smoking, Cleanup): The park maintains "pretty strict" rules regarding no smoking and cleaning up after your dog, demonstrating an effort to maintain a pleasant and healthy environment for all users, even if adherence varies.
  • Potential for First-Time Experiences: As one review lovingly detailed, the park can be a fantastic place for a dog's first off-leash experience. "He was a cute Hunt Terrier ROCKO ! He HAD HIS BEST DAY EVER ! He is 12 and he went to a dog park FOR HIS FIRST TIME ! ! BUT NOT THE LAST TIME. Great first trip !" This illustrates the welcoming nature of the park for newcomers to the dog park scene.

Dog park is a nice large size with a separate area for smaller dogs . A lot of dog poop!!! People should pickup! The water supply is not on or working at this time today. The fence line is not secure ! Today at the side gate and along the entrance side the fence line in both places is easy to get under and escape ! Today my young puppy is at 26 pounds and she went under quick. It was a first time event , we met 2 Friendly beauties Great Danes , Eleanor and ? Eloise? amazing beautiful ladies, and real friendly girls two beagles. And a standard size GoldenDoodle and a mini golden doodle puppy had the best time running free , playing fetch , with balls , and only one MALE dog was there. He was a cute Hunt Terrier ROCKO ! He HAD HIS BEST DAY EVER ! He is 12 and he went to a dog park FOR HIS FIRST TIME ! ! BUT NOT THE LAST TIME. Great first trip !

Nice open field and off leash area. Plenty of space to let your dogs run or fetch a ball.

We love this park! The pet owners are friendly, everyone cleans up after their pets and there's plenty of room for dogs to run. Our only complaint was that the water fountain didn't work.
