Promotions or Special Offers

As a public dog park, Liston Dog Park operates as a recreational facility rather than a commercial business with ongoing sales or promotions. Its primary "offer" is the provision of a superb, well-maintained, and engaging environment for off-leash dog exercise and socialization. Access to Liston Dog Park typically requires a permit. According to publicly available information, a daily fee of approximately $3 (as of 2024) or an annual pass is required for use.

This permit system helps fund the maintenance, upkeep, and future improvements of the park, ensuring it remains a high-quality resource for the community. While there aren't traditional "promotions" like discounts on merchandise, the value offered by the park's comprehensive amenities – its spaciousness, separate dog areas, water fountain, shade, and agility equipment – far outweighs the nominal permit fee for many dog owners. It is always advisable to check with the City of Baraboo Parks and Recreation Department or their official website (cityofbaraboo.com/parksandrecreation) for the most current details on permit fees, how to purchase them, and any specific regulations, as these can change periodically.

Conclusion: Why This Place is Suitable for Locals

For dog owners residing in Baraboo and the surrounding Wisconsin communities, the Liston Dog Park stands out as an exceptionally suitable and highly valued local resource. Its thoughtful design and comprehensive amenities directly cater to the diverse needs of both canines and their human companions, making it a cornerstone of local pet recreation.

The park's most significant advantage for locals is its meticulous separation of play areas into "separate area for large and small dogs." This critical feature ensures a safe and comfortable environment for all dogs, preventing smaller or more timid pups from being overwhelmed by larger, more boisterous playmates. This design consideration highlights the park's commitment to inclusive and stress-free socialization, which is paramount for the well-being of all canine visitors.

Furthermore, the availability of water directly within the park, via a dedicated fountain, is a highly appreciated amenity. Staying hydrated is crucial for active dogs, especially after vigorous play or during warm Wisconsin days. This convenience, combined with "several trees to provide shade," ensures that both dogs and owners can enjoy their time comfortably, even during extended visits. The presence of "benches all around" also offers ample resting spots for owners, fostering a more relaxed and enjoyable experience.

The inclusion of agility equipment provides an excellent opportunity for dogs to engage in more structured play and mental stimulation beyond simple running and fetching. The consistently positive feedback about the park being "clean" and having "ample parking" further solidifies its status as a reliable and user-friendly destination.

While a daily or annual permit is required, the nominal fee is a small investment for the consistent access to such a well-equipped, safe, and community-oriented facility. Liston Dog Park is more than just a place to let your dog off-leash; it's a supportive environment that promotes the health, happiness, and social well-being of Baraboo's canine population and their devoted human companions. Great spot the park was well kept and a lot of walking paths near by! Definitely a place to stop. There were clean nice bathrooms across the street in a pavilion.

We stopped to let our little dogs stretch their legs on a recent road trip. We were very disappointed in the large gaps in the bottom of the fences, as well as holes dug under the fences. There were also large gaps in the gate areas. On the plus side, there were picnic tables and shade trees. Bring your own water.

Only giving 4 Stars because of the huge mud holes (My dog doesn't complain, but I DO! lol) I go everyday with my Cooper and he loves it! Great area for high energy dogs to go and blow off some steam. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!
