It’s a fenced-in area full of some kind of wood chips. There’s a group of die-hard regulars, all of whom have more-or-less sweet, medium-large sized dogs. Pack mentality can take over sometimes but the owners have decent supervision/control of and accountability for their animals. Dog parks in general can be highly unpredictable and anxiety inducing environments, but this is one of the better ones, where I can feel at ease with my precious babies.

Location and Accessibility

The Fenced Dog Park is located within the larger Rengstorff Park at 2000 California St, Mountain View, CA 94040, USA. This address places it conveniently within Mountain View, making it an accessible spot for residents of the city and neighboring Bay Area communities. However, as noted by some visitors, finding the specific dog park within the expansive Rengstorff Park can sometimes be a bit of a discovery mission. It is "hidden behind the tennis courts, playground and pickleball courts," indicating that while it's part of a popular multi-use park, the dog park itself offers a degree of separation from other recreational activities.

Despite its somewhat tucked-away location, accessibility to Rengstorff Park itself is excellent. The park features ample parking, including a dedicated parking lot, which is a significant advantage for those driving to the facility. Mountain View also boasts a robust public transportation network, with local bus routes likely having stops within walking distance of Rengstorff Park, providing an alternative for those without personal vehicles. Once inside Rengstorff Park, directional signage or familiarity with the layout would guide visitors to the dog park area. The fenced nature of the dog park provides a clear boundary, ensuring dogs remain within the designated off-leash area. This combination of a central location within a well-equipped park and convenient parking makes the Fenced Dog Park at Rengstorff Park a practical and rewarding destination for daily dog outings for local Californians.

The fenced-in dog park here is hard to find, hidden behind the tennis courts, playground and pickle ball courts! But lots of fun things for the kids and family.

My dog(s)had a great time! It's a large park for the pups to run around with plenty of bushes to chase squirrels. Plus next to the park are huge tennis courts so the fly balls come over and are then snagged by the dogs. There's a few benches and chairs but overall a great park :)

I was looking for a quick stop for the pup as I passed through the Bay Area on a somewhat rainy day. I tried several others, which were either not off leash or we’re completely muddy. This park allows you to have your dogs off leash, was heavily covered in wood chips to prevent blood conditions, and had all the amenities of a good dog park, including waste bags, waste, receptacles, extra tennis balls, and sitting areas for owners.

This dog park is clean, has access to cold water (hidden in the bushes half way up) and has friendly people. Unfortunately it's an all wood chip park which I don't care for. It also can lack shade depending on time of day such as a summer afternoon. There's also a path that is next to the tennis courts which you can't see your dog in without going behind it. These are all things that you could overlook though. But having gone to many dog parks, that's what really lowered the score for me. Also bathrooms for humans aren't close by but that's not too uncommon
