I cannot speak highly enough about my veterinarian's office. The doctors and staff are absolutely wonderful- knowledgeable, professional and genuinely caring about both me and my pets. Their compassion and dedication are evident in every interaction, and I always feel confident my furry friends are in the best hands. Additionally in the office is spotless what gives me a piece of mind knowing they prioritize cleanliness and hygiene. It is welcoming and supportive environment and I'm so grateful for their exceptional care. We recently lost one of our furry family members due to old age and the care and concern for us as a family during this difficult time was extremely helpful. Thanks. Rest in Peace Olive.

This is by far the only vet office my wife and I trust with our paw kids. We have in total eight animals and every single experience has been nothing but exceptional even the really hard ones. We have had all services and the one kitten we adopted Dr.’s saved from death row. We have always been greeted with empathy, excitement, and understanding. They have incorporated Pet Desk which helps us busy moms with keeping up to date on shot, annual, and appointments. This office takes pride in what they do and all we can do is thank them for everything because we wouldn’t know what to do without them.

If you plan to bring your dog to Alafia River Animal Hospital I beg you to please think again. I brought my dog today for an oral cleaning which was scheduled in person 2 weeks ago after he received his annual visit/shot. I was told no food after 10pm the night before and to drop him off between 8am-9am the day of surgery. I followed all procedures that I was told and had him at the vet at 8am when they opened. When dropping him off they asked if he had eaten today, which I said no. I was then told they would call me soon when he was done. At 1:50 I still had not heard anything so I called the office to ask how he was doing. I was told by a lady on the phone that he still was not seen for his procedure but he was up next and they had already given him his pre-operation medication so he was nice and relaxed. She also said it would be about another hour and they would call when he was ready. At 3:07 I received a call from the office asking me if I brought him for a blood test the day before. I said no I was not aware that this was something that needed to be done. The lady informed me that he should have been scheduled for this before any procedures so that they can make sure all of the dog’s organs are working properly before going under surgery. When I told her this was the first I heard of this, she said well we can do the blood test now, keep him overnight and do the surgery tomorrow. I told her no because I had already taken today off work to handle this procedure and cannot take another day off. I then proceeded to ask why I was just now hearing about this when he’s been under there care since 8am. She then informed me that this was the first time today they had looked at his chart. I then decided to cancel the surgery and opted to pick him up instead. When I went to pick him up I was then further informed that the woman who made the original appointment was new and did not know that she had to make 2 appointments for this procedure. My problems with this situation are as follows: 1) I understand as a new worker mistakes can be made, however why did it take 7 hours to figure this out; 2) when I called to ask about an update with my dog I was lied to because he had never actually been given any medications; and 3) my dog spent the entire day going without food or water in preparation for this operation that they clearly dropped the ball on. The incompetence I witnessed today was enough to tell me that I would NEVER trust these people to operate on my dog, even for such a small procedure that he was supposed to receive.

I have brought all of my cats here and every time the staff has been outstanding and very helpful for our animals when in need. I 100% recommend taking your animal here! A big thank you to everyone who works there!!

Like family. As soon as you walk in you’re greeted with friendly faces every time. Vet takes her time doing a thorough evaluation and listens to you and answers all your questions. The techs are all sweet with our dogs. I’ll never go anywhere else for our pups.
