I was in the area and stumbled on this adorable pup and kid park. Hidden off of McNab Road this park is next to Pinewood Elementary School. The park once attracted litter and beer bottles. By adding the city's only dog park, the city was able to transform the park from an eyesore into a community asset. The park has two areas, one for small dogs and one for larger dogs. The dog areas have obstacles and agility training to make it fun for the pups. On the day I visited both areas were filled with canines living their best lives. In addition to the dog areas the park also has a small playground, restrooms, and benches. Woodville Park is kitty corner to the large Hampton Pines Park which has a lot more people centered amenities. This park is for the dogs.

Look no further than Woodville Dog Park, a true community asset that has transformed a local area into a vibrant hub for canine recreation. This "adorable pup and kid park," as one visitor affectionately called it, offers a fantastic environment for dogs of all sizes to live their best lives, providing a much-needed off-leash outlet in a secure setting.
Woodville Dog Park is more than just a fenced-in area; it's a testament to urban renewal and community spirit. What was once an overlooked spot has been revitalized into a clean, engaging, and welcoming space. It perfectly caters to the needs of local dog owners who appreciate a quiet, convenient spot for a quick stop or an extended playdate. With its thoughtful design, including specialized areas for different dog sizes and engaging agility obstacles, Woodville Dog Park ensures that every canine visitor finds their happy place. It’s a prime example of how local amenities can significantly enhance the quality of life for both human and animal residents in our sunny Florida communities.
Woodville Dog Park is conveniently situated at 1500 SW 83rd Ave, North Lauderdale, FL 33068, USA. Its location, tucked away "off of McNab Road," makes it a somewhat "hidden" gem, but once discovered, its accessibility is a major draw for local residents. The park's position next to Pinewood Elementary School provides a recognizable landmark, making it easy to find for first-time visitors.
For residents of North Lauderdale and neighboring cities in Broward County, the park's central location ensures it's an easy trip, whether it's for a dedicated outing or a quick stop "in between errands." One of the key advantages of Woodville Dog Park is the availability of "plenty of free parking adjacent to the dog park," with a "paved concrete path from the parking lot to the dog park," as noted by visitors. This eliminates the common stress of finding a spot, allowing for a smooth and immediate transition to playtime. The park is generally open daily from "7:00 AM - 8:00 PM" with a closure on Tuesdays for maintenance, providing ample hours for visits throughout the week. While it's a "simple place," its quiet nature and easy access contribute significantly to its appeal as a convenient and enjoyable destination for dog owners in the area.
Woodville Dog Park, while a public, unsupervised facility, is equipped with several thoughtful features that enhance the experience for both canine and human visitors, acting as essential "services" for the community.
Separated Dog Play Areas: A key feature is the provision of two distinct, securely fenced areas: one specifically for small dogs and another for larger dogs. This separation is crucial for ensuring safe and comfortable play for all canines, allowing smaller breeds to feel secure and larger dogs to romp freely without intimidation.
Agility and Obstacle Course Equipment: Both dog areas are outfitted with "obstacles and agility training" equipment. These structures, such as tunnels, ramps, and hurdles, provide mental and physical stimulation for dogs, making playtime more engaging and offering opportunities for skill-building.
Ample Shade: Recognizing Florida's sunny climate, the park boasts "plenty of shade" from mature trees. This is a significant amenity, offering cool spots for dogs and owners to rest and escape the heat, making visits more comfortable, especially during warmer parts of the day.
Water Stations: The park includes "water fountains" and "water stations for both dogs and their owners," ensuring that hydration is readily available for all visitors, which is vital in the Florida climate.
Waste Stations: To maintain cleanliness, "doggie bags are available at the entrance to this dog park, and garbage cans can be found scattered around the park." This encourages and facilitates responsible waste disposal, contributing to the park's well-maintained status.
Restrooms: For the convenience of human visitors, restrooms are available on-site within the broader Woodville Park area, ensuring a comfortable experience during longer visits.
Benches and Seating: Throughout the dog areas and surrounding the park, there are "benches" and "seating areas for owners," allowing pet parents to relax while supervising their dogs.
Designated Parking: As mentioned, there is "plenty of free parking adjacent to the dog park," making access hassle-free for visitors.
Woodville Dog Park is celebrated by its visitors for several unique features and highlights that set it apart as a valuable community space for North Lauderdale dog owners. These aspects contribute to its reputation as a pleasant and functional environment for canine recreation.
Community Transformation Success Story: One of its most significant highlights is its remarkable transformation. Once an "eyesore" that "attracted litter and beer bottles," the addition of the city's only dog park has revitalized it into a "community asset." This positive evolution makes it a point of local pride.
Dedicated Space for Different Dog Sizes with Agility: The thoughtful design featuring "two areas, one for small dogs and one for larger dogs," is a major draw. What's more, both sections are equipped with "obstacles and agility training," making playtime fun and stimulating for pups of all sizes. This ensures a safe and engaging environment tailored to specific needs.
Abundant Shade: A consistent highlight, especially important in Florida, is the "plenty of shade" available. This natural canopy provides crucial relief from the intense sun, ensuring that both dogs and their owners can enjoy the park comfortably, even during warmer parts of the day. As one reviewer noted, "Its a simple place but the plus side is there's plenty of shade."
Quiet and Relaxed Atmosphere: Many visitors appreciate the park's "nice and quiet spot" ambiance. Unlike some larger, busier dog parks, Woodville offers a more serene environment, perfect for a "quick stop" or for dogs who might be overwhelmed by larger crowds. This makes it ideal for a calm run-around, as experienced by a first-time visitor with their dog, Luna.
Well-Maintained and Clean: Despite its past, the park is now noted for being clean and well-maintained, indicating regular upkeep by the city and responsible patronage by its users.
Integrated with a Family Park: The proximity to a "small playground" and restrooms within the broader Woodville Park area means it caters to families with both canine and human children, offering amenities for all members of the household.
Convenient Parking: The "easy peasy" parking situation is a frequently praised practical highlight, removing a common hurdle associated with public park visits.
As a public dog park managed by the City of North Lauderdale, Woodville Dog Park does not typically offer commercial promotions, discounts, or loyalty programs similar to private businesses. Access to the park is generally free for all visitors, which serves as its primary "special offer" to the community.
However, public parks often serve as venues for community-driven initiatives and events that can indirectly benefit local dog owners. While specific, regular promotions for Woodville Dog Park are not widely advertised, residents should consider looking out for announcements from the City of North Lauderdale Parks and Recreation department, local community groups, or pet-focused social media channels. These platforms are the most likely places to find information about:
Community Pet Events: Occasionally, the city or local animal welfare organizations might host events such as low-cost vaccination clinics, pet adoption days, or pet-themed festivals at public parks.
Park Clean-up Days: While not a "promotion," participating in volunteer park clean-up days can be a rewarding way to engage with the community and help maintain the beautiful space, fostering a sense of shared ownership.
Informal Meet-ups: The "friendly dog owners" atmosphere often leads to informal gatherings or playdates organized by regulars, creating a spontaneous "offer" of socialization for both dogs and their humans.
The core value proposition of Woodville Dog Park remains its consistent provision of a free, safe, and engaging environment for off-leash dog play. This access to quality outdoor space for exercise and socialization is a significant and ongoing benefit to North Lauderdale residents and their furry companions.

There was plenty of shade and only 1 other dog there. Easy peasy for her to run around for 15 min in between errands. Again, Its a simple place but the plus side is there's plenty of shade 😎.
Oct 13, 2023 · CENTURY ApplianceIt's a great dog park, however, it starting to get run down.. gates are broken, one section has been closed for a year,a few of the dog obstacle things are slowly falling apart,I don't understand why they have a sign in the front entrance that says they are closed two days a week but I don't see any improvements..kinda sad 😢 .
Mar 27, 2025 · Kapt KoolThe park has made some new additions to both the large and small dog area. My dogs love it. There's water fountains hoses and tons of doggie bags. A few spots of poop from people too lazy to clean up after their dogs but all in all a good park to bring your pup
Aug 26, 2020 · D'Andra FrancisAlways a nice park with friendly dogs and people. Google does not have accurate times for when the park is open or closed.
