Open from T-Sun from sunrise to sunset. This is a big park with a common area where you can sit, wash your dog with a hose, and get them some water from the water fountain. It also has 2 adjacent areas - one for dogs with less than 25lbs, and another for dogs above 25lbs. I always go to the “big dog” area - has 5 seating zones for people to rest, lots of running space, stairs and tubes for the doggos, and various trees which provide shade. The small area also has all these amenities, but in a smaller scale. This park is rarely empty (a good thing for your dog to play) as it has a jogging/walking/bicycling path next to the park, and a big area where the Sunday Farmer’s Market takes place. It is closed on Mondays for cleaning and maintenance work.

Gary B. Jones Park for People and Pups stands out with several key features and highlights that make it a favorite among Tamarac locals:
- Optimal Size Separation: The park's intelligent division into two large, distinct areas – "Tam-A-Bark Run" for big dogs and "Wiggley Field" for small dogs – is a paramount highlight. This ensures safe and appropriate play for all sizes, minimizing potential conflicts and maximizing enjoyment.
- Extensive Running Space: Both sections of the park offer considerable open space, allowing dogs to truly stretch their legs, sprint, and engage in vigorous play, which is vital for their physical well-being.
- Engaging Play Structures: The inclusion of agility equipment like stairs and tunnels (or tubes) provides mental stimulation and varied physical activity, keeping dogs entertained and challenged beyond just running.
- Excellent Amenities for Humans: The presence of five dedicated seating zones, numerous benches, and ample natural shade from trees makes the park incredibly comfortable for dog parents, even during extended visits. This encourages longer stays and fosters more social interaction among owners.
- On-Site Dog Wash Station: The convenience of a dedicated dog wash area with a hose is a significant perk, allowing owners to clean off muddy or sandy paws before heading home, which is a common appreciation point for visitors.
- Integration with Larger Recreational Area: The park's proximity to a jogging/walking/bicycling path and the venue for the Sunday Farmer's Market creates a dynamic recreational hub. This allows visitors to combine a dog park outing with other family activities, making it a versatile destination.
- Consistent Maintenance: The park's scheduled closure on Mondays for cleaning and maintenance ensures that the facility remains consistently clean and well-kept, contributing to a pleasant and hygienic environment for all users.

The value provided is in its excellent, free amenities and well-maintained environment.
However, the City of Tamarac Parks and Recreation Department frequently hosts community events and activities, some of which are specifically geared towards pet owners or take place at or near the park. Locals should keep an eye out for:
- "Paws with Claus" Holiday Paw-ty: An annual event held at Gary B. Jones Park, offering festive fun, photos with Santa for dogs, raffles, and holiday contests. This is a popular community gathering for pet lovers.
- Tamarac Community Farmers Market: While not a direct park promotion, the nearby Sunday Farmer's Market (often held at Veterans' Memorial Park, adjacent to Gary B. Jones Park) provides an excellent opportunity to combine a park visit with local shopping for fresh produce and artisanal goods.
- Other City-Sponsored Pet Events: The Parks and Recreation Department may organize various pet-friendly events, workshops on responsible pet ownership, or even adoption drives throughout the year. Checking the official City of Tamarac website or their social media channels for their "Special Events" calendar or "Discovery Newsletter" is the best way to stay informed about these opportunities.

Mar 28, 2021 · Carla CordovesI’m going to say for the most part this park is great for little dogs and big since they each have their respective areas to play. I enjoy the humor in the drama of people watching and dog watching as they chase each other and just be happy. I am an animal person First and tend to trust animals way more than people . So maybe I’m bias.
Oct 19, 2023 · Ronnie BThis is a really nice place for dogs, however it needs to be sprayed for bugs as the grass is full of them and also if somebody can fix the access gates, small dogs can fit through the spaces between the gates with no problems and it is hard to run after them Thank you for providing this space
Apr 15, 2025 · cookiemiamiVery clean. The dogs & their owners were very friendly. I sat with a bunch of seasoned ladies & we both (Aladdin & I) had a nice time. Recommend.
May 18, 2025 · Julian ThomasIt's nice and large with a pagoda and some covered seating and a drinking fountain for humans and dogs. There isn't much in the big dog section as far as obstacles for the dogs. There is one tiny tunnel and 1 A-frame and just open grass. It's busier in the day with more dogs and people, so lots of play time!
