The Terminal 1 Pet Relief Area is located within Minneapolis-Saint Paul International Airport (MSP) at the address: 4300 Glumack Dr, St Paul, MN 55111, USA. MSP is a major hub, making it easily accessible from all directions within the greater Twin Cities metropolitan area via a comprehensive network of highways, including I-494, I-35W, and MN-77. Public transportation, specifically the METRO Blue Line light rail, also offers direct access to Terminal 1 from downtown Minneapolis and Bloomington.

Accessibility for pet owners is carefully considered, with multiple pet relief areas available at Terminal 1, catering to both pre- and post-security needs:

  • Pre-Security Locations:
    • Outside Door 1 on the Baggage Claim Level (lower level), at the north end of the terminal. Signs will direct you to the left from Door 1A. This is a common outdoor, fenced area.
    • Outside Door 4 on the Baggage Claim Level (lower level), at the south end of the terminal.
    • Outside the Silver Parking Ramp, on the ground level of the Rental Car Lobby, near the escalators on the east end of the building.
  • Post-Security (Inside the Terminal) Locations:
    • Near the entrance to Concourse E in the Airport Mall. Look for signs near the Escape Lounge and turn under the stairs, at the end of a hallway. This is an indoor facility.
    • On Concourse F, near Gate F5.
    • On Concourse C, near Gate C13 on the mezzanine level, north of the C/G Connector Skyway.

These strategically placed areas ensure that whether you're just arriving, about to check in, or have already cleared security, a designated relief spot for your pet is within reasonable reach. For travelers with service animals, an escort can be requested from your airline or Travelers Assistance to help navigate to these areas. This thoughtful distribution and clear signage make MSP's pet relief facilities highly accessible and convenient for all travelers with pets.

Features / Highlights

The Terminal 1 Pet Relief Area at MSP Airport stands out for several key features and highlights that enhance the travel experience for Minnesotans with pets:

  • Exceptional Cleanliness: A recurring theme in traveler reviews is the remarkable cleanliness of these areas. Despite being high-traffic facilities, they are consistently noted for being "very clean" and "did not have an odor," which is a significant relief for pet owners accustomed to less pleasant airport pet relief spots.
  • Surprising Spaciousness: Many visitors express pleasant surprise at how "bigger than I expected" the areas are. This generous sizing allows dogs more room to move around and stretch, rather than feeling cramped, which is especially beneficial for larger breeds or after long periods in a carrier.
  • Strategic Locations (Pre and Post-Security): The availability of multiple pet relief areas both before and after security checkpoints is a major highlight. This foresight ensures that dogs can take a necessary break at various points in the travel journey, minimizing stress for both pets and owners and avoiding the need to re-enter security.

Promotions or Special Offers

As an essential amenity provided by the Minneapolis-Saint Paul International Airport (MSP) for the convenience of travelers, the Terminal 1 Pet Relief Area does not typically offer traditional "promotions" or "special offers" in a commercial sense, such as discounts or loyalty programs. Access to these areas is free for all travelers with pets.

However, MSP Airport and its partners do provide valuable services that could be considered "offers" for pet owners:

  • Free Access to Relief Areas: The fundamental "offer" is providing clean, well-maintained, and strategically located pet relief facilities at no charge to passengers.
  • Service Animal Support: For travelers with service animals, the airport offers the "Travelers Assistance" program, which can provide escorts to the pet relief areas, ensuring a smooth and supportive experience.
  • On-Site Pet Boarding (Now Boarding): While a separate paid service, MSP has an on-airport property pet boarding facility called Now Boarding. This offers overnight boarding, doggy daycare, spa treatments, and training services. For Minnesotans with longer layovers or those needing temporary pet care while traveling, this convenience is a significant "offer" that streamlines the travel process. Now Boarding provides complimentary shuttle service to and from the terminals for pets and their owners.

Self cleaning, smell free, classical music playing, sink inside. Cleanest one I’ve seen! It is not well marked (signage wise) but you can find it in Terminal 1 upstairs in between C and G terminals to the left of the bridge. You will see a sign at the top of the escalator.

Well we found the MSP pet relief area in terminal 1. Take the walking sidewalk from G to C, continue walking past the escalator, towards the elevator and you will see it on the right. Once we opened the door the stench was awful! My dog wouldn't even use it and wanted to leave, he kept going towards the exit door. We walked out of there and his feet were wet with who knows what. Immediately we cleaned them off. A huge disappointed with a four hour sit at such a nice airport.
