Potso is the usual for my dog, Mister and I! We've been coming here for years and absolutely love the free range of space. It's away from busy streets and businesses, so it's the perfect spot for dogs of all sizes. The two-park separation is great for puppies and small pups. In the wet months, this park becomes a mud bath, so be prepared! There are many spaces to sit and enjoy the park yourself, as well as several covered areas for the sunny days. There is a dog wash station, portable toilet (for humans, of course), as well as hose inside the park for our thirsty companions. I will say, the park is always stocked with extra balls and water jugs to bring to the many water bowl throughout. Of course, every dog park sometimes has a trouble maker. Do not let that deter you! This park is well maintained, full of wonderful humans and puppers and is great for those looking for a nice walk, or a field for fetch.

This comprehensive guide will delve into what makes Potso Dog Park a top choice for local dog lovers, exploring its features, accessibility, and the community spirit it fosters.

Introduction / Overview

Potso Dog Park, located in Tigard, Oregon, is much more than just an off-leash area; it's a vibrant community hub where dogs of all sizes can thrive. Described by long-time visitors as their "usual" spot, it’s celebrated for its generous "free range of space" that allows for expansive play. What truly sets Potso apart is its thoughtful design, featuring two distinct, fully fenced sections: one dedicated to smaller dogs and puppies, and another expansive area for larger breeds. This separation ensures a comfortable and safe environment for all, preventing overwhelming interactions and promoting positive socialization experiences.

Beyond its spacious layout, Potso Dog Park is lauded for its excellent maintenance and a plethora of amenities that enhance every visit. Despite the common challenge of muddy conditions in Oregon during wetter months, the park provides solutions like a convenient dog wash station, allowing owners to clean up their pups before heading home. Reviewers consistently highlight the friendly atmosphere, noting that it's "full of wonderful humans and puppers." Whether you're looking for an energetic game of fetch or a leisurely stroll while your dog explores, Potso Dog Park offers a clean, well-maintained, and secure environment that has earned its reputation as one of the best dog parks in the region.

Its location makes it highly accessible for residents of Tigard and neighboring communities within the Portland metropolitan area.

For those traveling by car, parking is rarely an issue. Users consistently praise the "plenty of parking" available, which is a significant convenience often lacking at other popular dog parks. This ample parking ensures that visitors can easily find a spot, making trips to Potso stress-free.

While specific public transportation routes directly to the park's entrance might vary, Tigard is well-connected within the TriMet system. Bus stops along major roads like SW Hall Blvd or SW Pacific Hwy (OR-99W) are typically within a reasonable distance, allowing for access via public transit followed by a short walk or bike ride. The park's relatively secluded yet accessible location strikes a perfect balance, providing a peaceful escape for dogs and owners while remaining easy to reach for the local community. This combination contributes significantly to its status as a highly favored daily destination for dog outings.

  • Water Availability for Dogs: Hoses are available inside the park, along with numerous water bowls (often stocked with extra jugs), ensuring that all "thirsty companions" have access to fresh drinking water throughout their visit.
  • Covered Seating Areas: Several covered areas with tables and benches are strategically placed throughout the park. These provide much-needed shade on sunny days and shelter from the rain during Oregon's wetter seasons, allowing owners to relax comfortably.
  • Human Restroom Facilities: A portable toilet is provided for human visitors, adding to the convenience of longer park visits.
  • Waste Management: The park is consistently "stocked with extra balls" for play and, crucially, provides dog waste bags and waste receptacles, actively promoting cleanliness and responsible pet ownership.

This is a great dog park. Well gated and fenced. Drinking water available for your best friend. Water hoses available to wash off your 4 legged friend or your footwear. Several covered areas with tables for shade or if it's raining. Please be a responsible human and pick up after your dog. Bags and waste receptacles are provided. I have met many wonderful people here and my Australian Shepherd Bella just loves going there. Many other dogs for her to play with. It's especially nice during the wet months as I can clean Bella off before she gets in my vehicle. I highly recommend this dog park as it is the best park I have ever been to. There is always plenty of parking. 4/15/23 went there today, Bella and I had so much fun. Lots of friendly dogs and their humans.

Potso is my go to dog park in the Tigard/Beaverton area! The park is maintained pretty well and theres a small dog and mixed community areas which is great since I have a small dog. Most of the dog owners are super responsible. There was one pitty owner whose dog bit another dog and he dogs owner and she got upset at the other people which was ridiculous. If you have an aggressive dog you shouldn't take your dog to an off leash dog park! Overall though, I love potso and recommend it!

Great dog park that’s very big and very fun for the dogs to run around. In addition to the normal dog park, there is also a dog park for little dogs. Such a great idea, and it’s in a great place. I wish it was a little closer to home but that really is no big deal.
