Welcome to Jurgens Dog Park
For dog owners in Tualatin and surrounding areas of Oregon, finding a quiet, dedicated space where their canine companions can truly stretch their legs and enjoy some off-leash freedom is a cherished pursuit. Jurgens Dog Park, often described as a "secluded dog park," offers just such an environment. Nestled within the larger Jurgens Park, this specific off-leash area provides a secure, fenced space primarily covered in grass, ideal for games of fetch and energetic romps. While the experience can vary with the weather, its intimate neighborhood feel and ample running room make it a valued resource for local dog lovers. This article aims to provide a clear, engaging, and factual overview of Jurgens Dog Park, guiding local users through its location, available amenities, distinctive features, and why it's a suitable choice for your next dog outing in the Tualatin area.
Jurgens Dog Park is located at 10435 SW Jurgens Ln, Tualatin, OR 97062, USA. This address places it within the broader Jurgens Park, a community green space in Tualatin. The park's location on SW Jurgens Lane contributes to its "secluded" feel, often making it less crowded than some other major dog parks in the region. For those driving, Jurgens Park offers parking facilities. While reviews do not specify the size of the lot, its presence indicates a designated and generally convenient parking solution for visitors. Public transportation options in this more suburban area might be less direct than in downtown Portland, but consulting TriMet bus routes serving Tualatin and the vicinity of SW Jurgens Lane would provide the most accurate information for those without private vehicles. The dog park itself is described as an "enclosed gated dog area for all sizes," which is a significant feature for owners seeking a secure, fenced environment for off-leash play. It is primarily a "grass" area, which is great on dry days but can become quite wet and muddy during Oregon's rainy season.
While a smaller, neighborhood-focused dog park, Jurgens Dog Park provides essential services to facilitate a positive experience for its users:
- Water Access: Reviews indicate that "there are jugs of water hanging on the fence" and "water fountains" are available in the broader park. This community-driven or general park provision for water is a welcome amenity, though bringing your own water and a bowl is always a good practice, especially given the varying nature of community contributions.
- Waste Disposal: The park makes it easy for owners to be responsible, as "bags to pick up after your dog all around" are reportedly available. Coupled with waste receptacles, this encourages cleanliness and respectful use of the park.
- Fenced Enclosure: A critical service offered is the "enclosed gated dog area," providing a secure space where dogs can play off-leash without concerns of wandering. This is a significant advantage for many dog owners.
- Seating: While specific details about seating within the fenced dog park are limited, Jurgens Park overall has "picnic benches along the way," offering places for owners to rest.
Jurgens Dog Park, despite its relatively smaller scale compared to some regional parks, offers several appealing features and highlights:
- Secure Fenced Area: The main highlight is the "enclosed gated dog area for all sizes." This provides a safe environment for dogs to run and play without a leash, giving owners peace of mind.
- Grassy Surface: The dog park is primarily a "grass" area. On dry days, this offers a soft and natural surface for running and playing fetch, making it very comfortable for canine paws.
- Good Space for Running: Even if smaller than some mega-parks, it offers "Good space for your dogs to run and fetch balls," fulfilling the core need for off-leash exercise.
- Small Walking Area: Within the larger Jurgens Park, there's "a small walk area around the whole park easy for anyone to do at any level." This provides an option for a short leashed stroll before or after the off-leash session.
- Secluded Neighborhood Feel: Described as a "secluded dog park" and "Nice little neighborhood park," it offers a quieter, less overwhelming experience compared to larger, more crowded facilities. This can be ideal for dogs (and owners) who prefer a calmer environment.
- Multi-Use Park: The broader Jurgens Park is quite versatile, featuring "different sections for kids to play," "one ballfield," "two open grassy areas," a "unique forest-themed playground," "sand play," "picnic areas," "wetlands restoration area," and "tennis and basketball courts." This means families can enjoy various activities simultaneously.
- Well-Kept: Reviews note the park is "well kept," indicating a level of maintenance that enhances the user experience.
As a public park amenity managed by the City of Tualatin Parks & Recreation, Jurgens Dog Park does not offer commercial promotions or special offers. Its value lies in its consistent availability as a free, publicly accessible space for dog recreation. The City of Tualatin provides information regarding park rules and responsible pet ownership guidelines, which are often posted at park entrances. Dog owners are encouraged to consult the official City of Tualatin website for the most current information regarding park hours (typically 6:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. for Jurgens Park), specific rules, and any temporary closures or maintenance schedules. Adhering to these guidelines, such as cleaning up after pets and supervising dogs, is the best "promotion" for keeping this valuable community asset open and enjoyable for all.

Jurgens Dog Park is a particularly suitable choice for locals in Tualatin and surrounding communities, especially those seeking a "secluded dog park" with a strong emphasis on dedicated off-leash play. Its key strength is the "enclosed gated dog area," which provides an essential layer of security for owners, allowing their dogs to truly relax and run freely without constant worry. For dogs that love to "run and fetch balls," the grassy expanse within the enclosure is ideal. While the "grass" surface might be challenging on "very wet day," turning "muddy and puddly," this is a common seasonal reality in Oregon, and the park still offers a usable space year-round, unlike some that might close off entirely.
The overall setting as a "nice little neighborhood park" creates a less overwhelming environment than larger, more bustling dog parks, making it perfect for dogs (and owners) who prefer a calmer atmosphere for their outings. The convenience of readily available water jugs and waste bags, whether community-supplied or part of park provisions, further enhances the user experience. Furthermore, its integration into the larger Jurgens Park, with its "small walk area" and other recreational facilities, means that a visit can be tailored to various needs, from a quick off-leash romp to a longer family outing. For Tualatin residents, Jurgens Dog Park is a reliable, secure, and enjoyable local spot that consistently provides the freedom and space their canine companions need to be happy and active.

Apr 29, 2025 · Takahiro NiwaNice little neighborhood park. Unfortunately we went on a very wet day. Not much here on a rainy day, but if the weather was nicer it could’ve been more enjoyable. There’s a small walk area around the whole park easy for anyone to do at any level it was fine for my little dogs, there’s an enclosed gated dog area for all sizes but it’s grass so that’s not good on rainy days. there’s different sections for kids to play and one ballfield There’s two open grassy areas that would’ve been nice to play on for the babies if it wasn’t so wet out. Personally, we like more walking paths for longer walks but if that’s not important for you I would definitely recommend it here.
Dec 10, 2022 · J “ZoeChloe” GIt’s a really nice park especially for kids with 3 different playground choices. The park also has huge fields that you can practice some soccer or really anything on. The dog park is pretty good size also, but it is hard to find if you have never been here before. It’s a good dog park if you are looking for something more away from other dogs considering not a lot of people come here with their dogs.
Jul 13, 2023 · LexisNice, quiet and few dogs here. I think the area is great for dogs, it's tucked back from the rest of the park very close to the river. I recommend.
