Large mostly grassy space. Water fountains are available in the non-freezing seasons. Bags and trash available. There is also a water-spray feature for the warmer months. The small dog side has a long, narrow entrance "chute". Technically there is a requirement to get a park permit from animal control (separate sign from the rules sign), but everyone told me that it's mostly ignored. People and dogs were all very friendly.

Promotions or Special Offers

As a public facility, Newtown Park & Bark typically does not run ongoing promotional offers in the traditional sense, such as discounts or loyalty programs. Its primary "offer" is the consistent provision of a well-maintained, free-to-use, and engaging environment for dogs and their owners. However, it's worth noting that the park operates with the understanding that while a permit from animal control is technically required, this requirement is often overlooked by the majority of visitors, making it accessible to a broader audience without additional fees for entry. This can be seen as an ongoing benefit for users, as it simplifies access to this valuable community resource. Any specific events or community gatherings at the park are usually communicated through local town announcements or community boards rather than formal promotions. It's always a good idea to check local Newtown community pages or the town's official website for any announcements regarding special events or park updates.

One of the nicest dog parks I’ve been to in CT! It’s a massive, fenced off park that features a paved section with fountains and sprinklers. It also has a large grassy area with ramps, hoops and tires for your pooch to play with and in. If you’ve got a smaller pup, they also have a separate fenced off area specifically for small dogs. Enjoy!

Permit required so it's not a good fit if you're passing through, as we were. That said, it looks very well maintained and clean. The adjacent wildlife refuge DOES allow leashed dogs and has lovely walking trails. You can reach it by continuing past the dog park on a narrow blacktop road to a small gravel parking area.

This dog park is beautiful and clean! It's a large fenced-in area with a little spray area and a little plastic pool to encourage water play. Plastic bags are provided to clean up after your pup, and mostly everyone who goes there is courteous and respectful towards others. There is a little roofed over area where one can sit in the shade but otherwise, its whole area is in the full sun. There is also a secluded play zone for tiny pups that is fenced in, that borders besides the regular dog play area. Dog treats aren't allowed there to avoid fights over food but also due to food allergies. I have seen that on occasion people break that rule, but if your dog is sensitive, I suggest you scan the area before you let your pup play... You will need a permit to bring your dog here! I am a non resident since I don't live in Newtown and it costs $150 for the whole year.
