Gloucester County Dog Park is a well-established and highly regarded off-leash dog park located in the heart of Logan Township, New Jersey. It's renowned for its impressive size, thoughtful design, and a community atmosphere that makes every visit a pleasure. More than just a fenced-in plot of land, this park is a dedicated recreational space where dogs of all breeds and sizes can truly express their natural instincts – running, playing fetch, wrestling with new friends, and enjoying the freedom of being off-leash in a secure environment. The park's commitment to safety and enjoyment is evident in its well-maintained grassy areas and high fencing, providing peace of mind for owners. It serves as a vital resource for the local community, offering an essential outlet for canine exercise and socialization, which are crucial for a dog's overall health and happiness. Its reputation for having friendly people and well-behaved pets further solidifies its status as a premier dog park in New Jersey.
Gloucester County Dog Park is conveniently situated at 2401 County Rd 662, Logan Township, NJ 08085, USA. This central location within Gloucester County makes it highly accessible for residents not only from Logan Township but also from surrounding towns like Woolwich, Swedesboro, Mullica Hill, and even parts of Camden and Salem Counties. The park's address places it directly on a county road, ensuring relatively easy navigation for those traveling by car.
A significant advantage for visitors is the "fairly large parking lot." This ample parking capacity means you typically won't have to worry about finding a spot, even during peak hours, which can be a common frustration at other popular recreational areas. While public transportation options might be limited for this specific location, its direct road access and generous parking make it a very car-friendly destination. The park's hours of operation, "from dust until dawn," provide excellent flexibility for dog owners with varying schedules, allowing for early morning runs or evening play sessions to accommodate busy lifestyles. This accessibility and convenient location are key reasons why it's a favorite among South Jersey locals.
- Separate Fenced-In Areas for Large and Small Dogs: This is a standout feature of Gloucester County Dog Park. The park thoughtfully provides distinct, fully fenced sections. There's a dedicated area for small dogs, allowing them to play safely without being intimidated by larger, more boisterous canines. Conversely, the "big dogs area" is also spacious and features a "nice high fence," ensuring even the most energetic large breeds can run freely and securely.
- Grassy Play Surfaces: Both the large and small dog areas boast expansive grassy terrain. This natural surface is ideal for dogs' paws, provides excellent traction for running and playing, and offers a more comfortable and appealing environment compared to gravel or dirt.
- Ample Parking: As mentioned, the park offers a "fairly large parking lot," providing convenient and stress-free access for visitors. This reduces the hassle of searching for street parking, especially during busy times.
- Extended Operating Hours: The park is accessible "from dust until dawn," offering a wide window for dog owners to visit. This flexibility is particularly beneficial for those with unconventional work schedules or who prefer to visit during quieter times of the day.
- Friendly Community Environment: Reviews consistently highlight "lots of friendly people and pretty well-behaved pets." While not a physical service, this aspect contributes significantly to the overall positive experience, fostering a welcoming atmosphere for new visitors and regulars alike.
- Safety and Security: The presence of a "nice high fence" in the large dog area and the general vigilance of local law enforcement (as noted in one review about police presence ensuring safety) contribute to a secure environment, giving owners peace of mind.
- Dedicated Spaces for All Dog Sizes: The clear separation of play areas for small and large dogs is a major highlight. This design element ensures a safer and more enjoyable experience for all canine visitors, preventing potential conflicts and allowing dogs to play within appropriate size groups.
- Expansive Play Areas: The park boasts "large, fenced-in, grassy areas," providing ample room for dogs to run, sprint, and engage in vigorous play. This generous space is crucial for high-energy dogs and allows for multiple dogs to play simultaneously without feeling crowded.
- High Fencing for Large Dogs: The "nice high fence for the big dogs area" is a particularly valuable feature, providing an added layer of security for larger, more athletic breeds, and reassuring owners that their adventurous pups will remain safely contained.
- Positive Community Atmosphere: The park is celebrated for its "lots of friendly people and pretty well-behaved pets." This welcoming social dynamic encourages interaction among owners and helps ensure a harmonious environment for the dogs.
- Consistent Accessibility: The "dust until dawn" operating hours provide unparalleled flexibility, allowing locals to utilize the park at their convenience, whether for an early morning romp or an evening wind-down.
- Local Law Enforcement Presence (Indirectly Positive): While unexpected for some, the anecdotal review noting police vigilance ("cops in this area do their job") inadvertently highlights a sense of security and oversight, suggesting that the area is generally monitored and safe.
As a public county park facility, Gloucester County Dog Park does not typically run commercial "promotions" or "special offers" in the traditional retail sense. The park's inherent "special offer" is its free and open access to a fantastic, well-maintained, and safe off-leash environment for the community's dogs. This free access represents a significant value to local New Jersey residents, providing an invaluable resource for pet exercise, socialization, and overall well-being without any membership fees or daily charges.
However, the park's popularity and community focus often lead to indirect benefits or opportunities for locals:
- Community Events: Local animal shelters, rescue organizations, or pet-related businesses in Gloucester County might occasionally host adoption events, dog training demonstrations, or pet wellness clinics that are either held at or advertised near the dog park. Keep an eye on local community calendars or social media groups for such announcements.
- Volunteer Opportunities: Sometimes, local groups or the county parks department may organize volunteer clean-up days or improvement projects at the park. Participating in these events is a wonderful way to contribute to the upkeep of a beloved local resource and connect with fellow dog owners.
- Local Business Partnerships: While not direct park promotions, nearby pet supply stores, groomers, or veterinary clinics in Logan Township and surrounding areas may offer discounts or special services to dog owners who frequent the park, often advertised via flyers or local promotions.
For the most up-to-date information on any potential community events or park-related news, it is always best to check the official Gloucester County Parks & Recreation website or local community boards.
Gloucester County Dog Park is managed as part of the broader Gloucester County Parks & Recreation system. Therefore, direct contact for the dog park itself typically falls under the county's general parks administration.

For inquiries regarding park rules, maintenance issues, or general information about Gloucester County parks, the best course of action is to contact the Gloucester County Department of Parks & Recreation. While a specific phone number for the dog park isn't publicly listed, a general number for the county parks department would be the appropriate contact. As of my last update, common public contact numbers for Gloucester County government or parks department would be found on the official Gloucester County website. For example, a search for "Gloucester County Parks & Recreation" often yields numbers like 856-224-6000 (county general line) or specific parks office numbers. Always refer to the official county website for the most accurate and current contact details.
For New Jersey residents, particularly those in Gloucester County and the greater South Jersey area, the Gloucester County Dog Park stands out as an exceptional and indispensable local amenity. Its suitability for locals stems from several key factors that directly address the needs and desires of pet owners.
Firstly, the park's thoughtful design with separate, spacious, and highly fenced areas for both large and small dogs is paramount. This ensures that every dog, regardless of size or energy level, can enjoy a safe and comfortable off-leash experience. This segregation is a significant peace-of-mind factor for owners, knowing their smaller companions are protected, and their larger dogs have ample room to stretch out.
Secondly, the park's generous operating hours ("dust until dawn") and ample parking alleviate common stresses associated with public facilities, making it easy for busy individuals to integrate dog park visits into their daily routines. The large, grassy areas provide an ideal, natural surface for play, promoting healthy exercise and reducing stress on paws.
Finally, the strong sense of community, characterized by friendly people and well-behaved pets, transforms a simple dog park into a social hub. This fosters a welcoming atmosphere where both dogs and their owners can build connections. For New Jersey locals seeking a reliable, safe, and enjoyable environment for their canine companions to thrive, Gloucester County Dog Park is not just a convenience; it's a vital part of a healthy, active, and connected lifestyle. It truly embodies what a premier local dog park should be.

Aug 12, 2023 · Jen SIts a lovely 🐕 park for little and big dogs! It's from dust until dawn. I play Pokemon go here it has one gym and one poke stop. So, one night I stopped to battle the gym right quick, and the cops showed up, they was nice just wondering what I was doing. My point is the cops in this area do their job, the next day I was down the same street at a different Pokemon gym with my hazard lights on and they stopped me to ask me if I needed any help 👍
Apr 13, 2019 · gia turnerGreat park to take your dog. Bags are furnished for your use but not everyone is a responsible pet owner. Local staff keep the park in good order.
Apr 01, 2023 · Mary BeraultGreat free dogpark, smaller area for small dogs and larger area for big dogs. Plenty of benches for seating, no bathrooms or vending machines.
Mar 25, 2021 · Christopher CorsoGreat local dog park. All the owners and dogs in general are very friendly and keen to introduce you to their dogs and get comfortable with the new dogs playing with each other. All dogs have been very well trained so far and people in general bring balls for the dogs to play with and end of leaving them there for the next dog to play with. The environment is very friendly.
