It is a good space for dogs, it is a little small but it is functional. There is a small area for small dogs and a larger area for other dogs. The floor is made of small pebbles, there is a water drinker for people and dogs, in winter they close it, so make sure you bring your own water. There are cans with bags for your dog’s waste.

Services Offered

First Creek Dog Park is designed to make your visit as enjoyable and convenient as possible. While primarily an open space for dogs to play, it offers several essential services and amenities:

  • Designated Off-Leash Areas: The park provides distinct, fenced-off sections for dogs, separating smaller breeds from larger ones. This thoughtful layout ensures that all dogs, regardless of size or temperament, can play comfortably and safely with peers of similar stature.
  • Waste Stations: Throughout the park, you’ll find conveniently placed cans with bags for dog waste. This encourages responsible pet ownership and helps maintain the cleanliness of the park for everyone.
  • Seating Areas: For the comfort of human companions, the park includes seating options, such as benches and picnic tables. These areas allow owners to relax and supervise their dogs while they play.
  • Water Access (Seasonal): There is a water drinker available for both people and dogs. However, it's important to note that the water fountain is often shut off, particularly during the colder winter months (September to May). It's always a good idea to bring your own water, especially during these periods, to ensure your dog stays hydrated.
Features / Highlights

First Creek Dog Park boasts several features that make it a standout choice for dog owners in Colorado:

  • Spacious Environment: Despite some feedback suggesting it might be considered small by some, the consensus from many visitors is that it’s a very large dog park with plenty of room for pooches to expend energy and explore. The open field allows for extensive running and play.
  • Secure Fencing: The entire park is fully fenced, offering peace of mind to owners. This complete enclosure means you can confidently let your dog off-leash without concerns about them wandering off.
  • Dedicated Areas for Different Sizes: The separation of small and large dog areas is a key highlight, addressing a common need among dog owners. This feature prevents potential intimidation or accidental injuries that can occur when dogs of vastly different sizes play together.
  • Gravel Surface: The ground is primarily made of small pebbles or gravel. While this might not appeal to every dog or owner, it provides a unique surface that helps prevent muddy paws, even after rain or snowmelt, unlike traditional grassy parks. This also means no creek or water features within the park itself for dogs to get muddy in.
  • Shaded Areas: While the overall park is largely open, one corner of the large dog area benefits from the shade of tall trees. This offers a welcome reprieve from the sun, especially during warmer Colorado days.
  • Quiet Mornings: For those who prefer a less crowded experience, the park can be completely empty early in the morning, making it an ideal time for a peaceful play session.
  • Play Tunnels: Some sources indicate the presence of play tunnels, which can add an extra element of fun and engagement for dogs, encouraging active play and exploration.
Promotions or Special Offers

As a public park, First Creek Dog Park typically does not offer specific promotions or special offers in the way a commercial business might. Access to the park is generally free for all visitors. However, local pet supply stores or community organizations occasionally host events or provide special offers in conjunction with local parks. It's always a good idea to check local community boards, pet store announcements, or social media groups for Colorado dog owners to see if any such events or special deals are happening in the area that might coincide with a visit to First Creek Dog Park.

This is a very large dog park and has plenty of places for your pooches to explore. We had just adopted a new puppy and wanted to let him expend some energy. This was a great place for that. Was completely empty early in the morning. Will be back! I appreciate that it is fenced entirely and has no creek or water for the pups to get muddy in.

Not a very good dog park the fence is folded in half in some places so your dog can easily jump over if they’re a medium or large size dog there’s no place for your dog to get a drink. The pond that they talk about or the creek is fenced off, so your dog can’t even get at it. I don’t know why they show pictures of a dog standing in water Because there is none and the whole grounds are covered in gravel rock which get in between my dogs toes and he doesn’t like it I’m sure it’s uncomfortable for all large dogs probably even worse for the small dogs. Why would they cover it and gravel like that I don’t know There’s no grass anywhere. It’s just gravel and concrete sidewalk. Whoever gave it a five stars hasn’t really seen any good dog parks yet there’s excellent one in Colorado Springs called Bear Creek dog park that one I give 100 stars it’s totally fenced in with big hills you can climb with your dog trails. There is a running stream and river and a little beach area for your dog as well. There’s regular bathrooms on the property not out houses check it out for yourself. I give this dog part one star it’s just the basic with the unstable fence around it.

This park is just ok. I took our dogs here because the reviews were saying it was the best park and it was amazing etc and it's just ok. The park is all gravel which does make it easier to pick up dog poop but makes it very difficult to walk in. Also if it's very hot out it can burn your dogs feet. A lot of the photos showed water so we thought that the dogs would be able to swim but there was no water today (9/4) and didn't see a way to even access to water. On the plus side, there is a lot of shade and trees and benches to sit. There are also a lot of dog poop bag stations, as well as a porta potty.

This dog park is amazing!! Gigantic space with lots of covered benches, water, fountain, and doggy bags! The surface is all Pete gravel so just be aware that if your dog has sensitive feet or bad hips that they might get tired very quickly. There is always sun and shade here, and a nice big parking lot with outhouse.
