Welcome to Amery Dog Park
For dog owners across Wisconsin, the quest for a fantastic spot where their furry friends can freely roam, socialize, and burn off energy is a constant pursuit. In the charming city of Amery, local residents are fortunate to have the Amery Dog Park, a dedicated off-leash area that serves as a valuable resource for both canines and their human companions. This park, while not sprawling in size, is thoughtfully designed to provide a safe and enjoyable environment for dogs of all breeds and temperaments.
The Amery Dog Park represents a wonderful community amenity, offering a designated space where dogs can engage in natural behaviors, from playful romps to sniffing expeditions, all within a secure, fenced perimeter. Its existence highlights Amery's commitment to providing recreational opportunities for its pet-owning population, fostering a more pet-friendly community overall. For those living in or visiting the Amery area, this dog park is a practical and welcoming destination for daily exercise and social interaction.
The Amery Dog Park boasts a convenient in-town location, making it easily accessible for residents of Amery and nearby Wisconsin communities. You'll find it at:
Amery, WI 54001, USA
More specifically, the park is situated on the northeast corner of Minneapolis Avenue and Griffin Street East. Its central positioning means that a trip to the dog park is a quick and simple affair, minimizing travel time for you and maximizing play time for your dog. While specific parking details aren't always highlighted, its in-town location generally suggests convenient access and nearby parking options, making it a hassle-free visit for most locals. The park is open year-round from dawn until dusk, providing ample opportunity for socialization and exercise in all seasons, weather permitting.
The Amery Dog Park focuses on providing fundamental amenities that enhance the off-leash experience for dogs and their owners. While it operates as a self-service public park rather than offering commercial services, the available facilities are designed to meet essential needs for a comfortable visit. Here’s a breakdown of what you can expect:
Separated Fenced Areas: A key feature for safety and comfort, the park offers distinct, fenced-off areas for both small dogs and large dogs. This separation allows smaller or more timid dogs to play without intimidation from larger, more energetic canines, and vice versa.
Dog Waste Cleanup Supplies: To promote a clean and hygienic environment, the park is equipped with dog waste stations, typically including bags and disposal bins. This encourages all visitors to immediately clean up after their pets.
Benches and Picnic Tables: For the comfort of human companions, the park provides benches and picnic tables. These seating options offer a place to rest, observe, and socialize while your dog enjoys its playtime.
Porta Potty: A portable restroom is available on-site, providing convenience for visitors during their stay at the park.
Free Access: As a community park, there are typically no fees required for entry, making it an accessible recreational option for all dog owners in the area.
The Amery Dog Park may be compact, but it packs in several important features that contribute to its functionality and appeal among local dog owners. These highlights make it a well-regarded spot for canine recreation:
Dedicated Small and Large Dog Areas: This is a standout feature, frequently praised by users. The "fenced off small dog and large dog areas" ensure that dogs of different sizes and play styles can interact safely and comfortably, reducing potential conflicts and enhancing the overall experience for all.
Essential Amenities: The provision of "dog waste clean up supplies, picnic tables, benches and a porta potty" covers the basic needs for a pleasant visit. These amenities, while seemingly simple, are crucial for the convenience and cleanliness of the park.
Community Investment: The very existence of the Amery Dog Park is a highlight, as it signifies a thoughtful "great addition to the community!" It reflects the City of Amery's understanding of the importance of pet-friendly spaces for its residents.
Natural Setting (with a caveat): While specific shade trees might be limited (as noted in some reviews), the park offers an open-air environment for dogs to enjoy. The openness allows for good visibility, which is important for owners supervising their pets.
No Fee Access: The fact that the park is free to use is a significant advantage, making it an accessible and affordable option for regular dog outings for all Amery residents.
One notable feedback point from visitors is the wish for "running water for the dogs" and more "shade (trees)." While these are areas for potential future enhancement, the current setup still provides a valuable space for off-leash activity.
As a public municipal park maintained by the City of Amery, the Amery Dog Park does not engage in commercial promotions, discounts, or special offers. Its primary purpose is to serve as a free, accessible recreational amenity for the community. Any costs associated with its upkeep, such as maintenance of fencing, waste stations, and the porta potty, are typically covered by city funds. Visitors can generally expect consistent access to the park's facilities without any entry fees or membership requirements. For any rare updates on park policies or operational changes, consulting the official City of Amery website or their Parks and Recreation department would be the most reliable source.
For more information about the Amery Dog Park, or for general inquiries regarding Amery's parks and recreation facilities, you can typically direct your questions to the City of Amery's main offices or their dedicated departments. While a specific direct line for the dog park itself is not commonly provided, the City Hall or Parks and Recreation department would be the appropriate contact points.
Address: Amery, WI 54001, USA (The park is located at Minneapolis Avenue and Griffin Street East)
General City of Amery Phone: (715) 268-7486 (This number connects to Amery City Hall, which can direct inquiries to the relevant department for park information.)
It is always recommended to check the official website of the City of Amery (amerywi.gov) for the most current information, rules, and any announcements related to the dog park or other city amenities.
For residents of Amery, Wisconsin, and the surrounding communities, the Amery Dog Park is a fantastic local amenity that significantly enhances the quality of life for dog owners. Its clear delineation of small and large dog areas provides a critical safety feature, allowing all dogs to play comfortably and confidently. The provision of essential amenities like waste stations, seating, and a portable restroom demonstrates a commitment to visitor comfort and park cleanliness, even if running water and more shade are desired improvements.
This park offers a much-needed space for dogs to exercise, socialize, and relieve pent-up energy in an off-leash environment – something crucial for their well-being in an urbanized area. Beyond just canine enjoyment, it also serves as a social hub for human companions, fostering connections among local dog lovers. The Amery Dog Park stands as a testament to the community's dedication to its furry residents, making it an invaluable and highly suitable destination for any local looking to give their dog a fun, safe, and active outing in Wisconsin.

Oct 02, 2022 · Kiara PedersonSmaller area for small dogs and separate larger area for the large dogs. Most dog parks we've been to have water and water bowls available for the dogs, but this park did not have any water available or shade (trees). It did have benches to sit down on though.
Aug 12, 2023 · Timothy FruhwirthI love bringing my puppy there, and we meet up with a family member that has the same breed of dog we have, and our dogs have an amazing time. I really appreciate what Amery has done to help people out that has dogs. I think that they should keep the location of the dog park, cause it's very wide, and enough room for everyone.
Jul 14, 2022 · Jill MarieReally enjoy bringing my dog there!! Don't have a fenced in back yard so it is great to have the dog park!!
