Petland Overland Park

The staff I met there today was very nice and informative about products. The puppy I was interested in was very cute and did look well taken care of and I would have loved to buy her and left feeling very disappointed. The company is very cagey about their prices. They won't post them on the website, won't give them over the phone, and they seem to make their employees withhold them until the end of your vist after they give a long spiel to justify them. The company doesn't seem to mind wasting your time. You have to buy the dog and several extra things that add up to about 7,000 dollars. They do offer payment plans and honestly I wouldn't have minded the price so much if they didn't give off the impression they're trying to scam you with a cute baby dog. However the staff was very nice and kind and all their animals from what I saw looked well taken care of and one of their employees helped me find a good healthy option of cat food for my cat.

Seinnon was patient, informative and friendly. We enjoyed visiting with him regarding what Petland offers regarding the quality of their dogs as well as the great programs/services they offer to care for our dog for life

Best Petland in KC hands down. They have kittens for adoption, and have a great section devoted to cats. Joey is knowledgeable, patient and helped educate me about the things my new kitten needed.

If I could give them negative stars I would, The kittens at this location are sick, they can’t even stand on there back legs properly, crust in there eyes, saliva all over there mouth, can’t stop crying, covering in poop, slow moving, and look lethargic, these workers do not care about these animals or about the health of these animals, we told a worker that they are sick and need to be isolated to there own cage and she brushed it off saying that’s how they look when they come in and a friend of mine use to work here and has never seen this happen to a kitten before, they were scrapping poop out of there cages, they should not be allowed to sell or have animals here this is unacceptable behavior, these animals can’t defend themselves or protect themselves especially as babies and the fact that they are getting treated poorly is just beyond me, this experience was really disappointing and it makes me sick.

If I could rate 0 stars I would. It is sad because I actually use to work at this location about a year ago and it was not like it is now. This company has really gone down hill since then. I saw 2 kittens that were visibly sick. One with diarrhea and wouldn’t sit on his bottom and his back legs were in the air. The second one has crusted up eyes, nose, and mouth. I addressed my concerns with an employee and she told me that the kittens just came in and are adjusting to a new environment, but me having worked there before, that was never the case with new kittens. They are making excuses for an unkept kennel and brushing off customers concerns about sick animals. The kittens were not removed and isolated and they are held with 3-4 other kittens, meaning they will get sick too. Just overall disgusting and sickening to see these animals getting so poorly treated now. the kennels for the kittens and puppies were disgusting, with food and poop strewn everywhere. Please do not support this business. Edit: That’s a nice copy and pasted response that you also left on another review. Whether or not it is true that there is a schedule for things to be cleaned every 15 min, your employees are clearly not following it, because poop should not need to be scraped off the kennel if it is cleaned every 15 minutes. When I worked there, it was protocol to inspect every animal for illnesses at the beginning of every shift and isolate the ones that even looked remotely sick. The fact that there was diarrhea matted into the kittens fur, it couldn’t even walk properly, and its eyes and nose were crusted is very disturbing. That does not just happen in 15 minutes. I find it ridiculous how this company will do anything to stay afloat, even while knowing the terrible care that they give their animals. I worked there for around a year and it was not inspected but maybe once, so the regular inspections are false. these employees do not love your animal before you take them home, they abuse and neglect them.
