We originally stopped by the Petco on West Valley Parkway in Escondido to pick up a few supplies for our home aquarium—some water conditioner, a few decorative plants, and possibly a new filter. The store was clean and well-organized. On the right hand side, across from the fish section, we noticed some kind of pet training classes happening in-store. It was great to see that Petco offers not just products, but education for pet owners too. While browsing, we were helped by Matilda, who was friendly, helpful and knowledgeable. She answered our questions about keeping our water levels balanced and even recommended a new brand of tropical fish flakes our fish seem to love. As we were heading toward the checkout, our kids noticed the small animal section—and that’s when the adventure took a turn. We ended up falling in love with an adorable hamster. With Matilda’s help, we picked out a starter cage, bedding, food, and a wheel to get everything set up right away. To top it off, we were able to apply a promo code to get us 25% of the entire purchase price. That made a big difference, especially with the spontaneous hamster adoption! Overall, it was one of those visits where we came for one thing and left with so much more—literally and figuratively. Great service, clean store, and a team that clearly loves animals. Escondido’s Petco is definitely our go-to from now on.

I’ve been taking my pitbull to Petco for grooming services (nail clipping & self-wash dog bath area) for the past two years, and I recently added a new pitbull puppy to my family. I can honestly say that the staff has always been fantastic, taking the time to get to know my pets and making sure they’re both comfortable during their visits. Nail Clipping Service: The staff is always patient and caring with my dogs, and it’s clear they’ve built a rapport with them. My older pitbull, who can be a bit nervous, is always handled with such care, and the team knows exactly how to make him feel at ease. They’re quick and efficient, and my dogs don’t seem stressed afterward. The pricing is fair, and I really appreciate how smooth the process is each time. Self-Wash Dog Bathing Area: The self-wash stations are a game-changer. My pitbulls love their baths here, and the setup is really convenient. The tubs are spacious enough for both of my dogs (including the new puppy who’s still growing), and they provide everything you need — shampoo, conditioner, towels, and aprons. The water pressure is perfect for getting them clean without making a mess. Plus, it’s easy to dry them off, thanks to the drying station. It’s the ideal spot for a quick, stress-free bath. Overall, I’m really happy with the grooming and self-wash services. The staff has always been welcoming and attentive, and it’s clear they genuinely care about my pets. It’s been a great experience for both my older pitbull and my new puppy, and I’ll definitely continue bringing them here.

Upon entering the store, I was immediately greeted by Chris. He was very helpful and knowledgeable about helping me find a great choice of food for my dog. Thank you, this customer service was Excellent!!

Cathie is an amazing employee she's extremely smart easy going hard worker friendly and I always pray that before I come in that I see her because she makes my day with her beautiful smile and big heart and her compassion and I can tell she loves her job she's a good worker I believe she deserves a raise

4.4 stars. Not from my experience. My son called me and asked if I could pick up an order for him. So being a good dad I said, no problem. I arrived at store approximately 6:30PM..ten people in line at register, one cashier. Customers walking up behind me. Putting products down and walking out, Petco, your losing sales. A second person finally showed up, now 2 cashiers, I finally I get my turn. Show cashier order number, and he says here you go. Surprise, my son ordered a 50 gal aquarium. So did he help me, no he gave me the cart to load myself. I finally got it in car with a little struggle, then he finally came out to collect his cart, I sarcastically thanked him. He mumbled something under his breath and left. I really can't complain about the customer service here, because there isn't any. And the workers are like zombies. Moving slow,no plesentries, this was not a fun experience, but they did make an impression.
