I had a very disappointing experience at Petco after purchasing live fish. Unfortunately, three of them died shortly after bringing them home to a cycled aquarium. To make matters worse, despite my best efforts, I was only able to locate one of their bodies. I suspect my snails may have scavenged the other two, as they’ve been missing for days. When I returned to the store, I was offered a refund but was told I needed to bring in a water sample for replacements despite this not being listed as a requirement on their website. When I mentioned my missing fish and my suspicion about the snails, the employee dismissively told me that snails only eat algae and do not eat fish, which is simply incorrect. Many snails are opportunistic scavengers and will eat deceased fish. To top it off, I was told that I should only be refunded for the single fish I was able to show proof of, as "anyone could claim their fish had died and get a refund." While I understand the need for policies, the way this was said along with the inaccurate information about the snails, felt like an insinuation that I was being dishonest. As a dedicated fish owner, I found this experience to be extremely unempathetic and frustrating. Mistakes happen, but dismissing customer concerns and implying dishonesty is unacceptable. I expected better, respectful customer service and knowledge from a store that sells live animals. I will not be returning to this Petco for live fish in the future.

Feb 18, 2025 · Xuan DangHad a horrible experience with one of the very rude staff member. He refused to follow refund policy even though I had my receipt and it was within the allotted time. He tried to claim I purchased my item at Petsmart and said he has no proof it was purchased at Petco when I literally showed him the valid receipt and pulled up and read out loud the refund policy terms. He angrily grabbed my phone from my hand without permission. He read the terms and saw the receipt and still refused. I have all of the documentation. The old heavyset Caucasian man with the big beard needs major training or should be terminated immediately. He did not give a greeting, talked rudely, snatched my phone, and out right refused to follow policy without any basis. It was very clear that he is racist the way he treated me. Please guys, take your business elsewhere and go to petsmart a few stores down instead.
Apr 06, 2025 · M JosephI drove all the way to this location for the self-wash station, arriving at 5:40 pm, only to be turned away because they had closed at 5:30. Nowhere on the website does it mention the self-wash closing at 5:30. In fact, there’s a promotion that advertises walk-in grooming from 2 to 6 pm. How is it that grooming—which requires staff—is open, but the self-wash, where pet owners do all the work, is not? It makes no sense. Better communication about operating hours and more logical policies would be greatly appreciated. Very disappointing experience!

Sebastian is a very inexperienced groomer and does not have experience grooming all types of puppies. He told me that he would not provide the grooming service to my puppy because she was too young and her hair was too thin yet she is almost 5 months old! He claims to be sooooo experienced yet he could not perform a basic puppy cut. He blamed it on being too over crowded due to holiday season. However, that is not a valid excuse to turn down my puppy. I took my puppy to PetSmart right after this and she was cut with no issue or problem. Sebastian and the store manager are very rude and inexperienced. NEEED NEW AND MORE PROFESSIONAL STAFF MEMBERS WHO CAN WORK WITH ALL TYPES OF DOGS!!!
