I bought a shark fish and glow fish 2 weeks back and the shark fish started becoming aggressive towards my old gold fish and glow fish so I went back to return the shark fish. Martha “manager” took the shark fish and said “ I wont sell you another glow fish today because you already have a glow fish and gold fish in a 10 gallon tank at home, and if something happens to the new one we don’t want you to come and return it”. I told her that’s I’ll take the risk and will get bigger tank once my gold fish is big enough. She insisted that she won’t sell me a new gold fish until I set up a new tank and rerun in a week. After a long argument and told her that I won’t come back to return it she sold me the fish. She was extremely rude and manipulative. Very bad customer service!

I got Shadow a year ago today after she was passed over for “smaller, cuter” beardies. There a few good employees that were happy to see me take her home. I love this lady. From the day I got her till now in photos. El Cerrito has some actually caring and knowledgeable people who share the knowledge. It took me over a month to get her to eat but when I did… she took off! Also Petco just collard, mustard, and dandelion greens. They care not for fruits till they’re older.

The guy that I picked up my pickup delivery from was great and had great customer service. However, when I went back in the store to purchase treats the young guy that stepped in to help the front had horrible customer service and barely looked up from his phone to acknowledge me.

The tall/skinny male cashier working 1/30/25 at 8:30pm was on the phone taking a call on Bluetooth for several minutes while actively checking out customers, including having a conversation about a previous customer. He seemed unbothered by my suggestion to not be on the phone while helping customers.

I went in last week and saw one dead betta fish and most of the bettas in filthy water, showing signs of stress like clamped fins and no movement. There was a dried mealworm in one of the cups which had likely gone unnoticed because of how little attention these fish seem to receive. I can't imagine how bad the water quality must be. It was heartbreaking to see. I don't blame the staff for this!! Every employee there was busy working with customers and helping other animals. This is a terrible display method for these fish. The store had almost 40 bettas in stock. If they're unable to care for that many fish they need to stock less.
