I really did not like this store at all. Everything was so overpriced. But what really upset me is when I saw the betta fish. They were in a little glass cup with a plant, so they couldn't even move around. That was honestly heartbreaking. If you want to pay for overpriced things, then this is your store .. but I highly recommend driving 5 minutes down the road to petco! If i could give this a zero plus stars, I definitely would! So sad.

Welcome to Pet Supermarket
For residents of Knoxville, Tennessee, seeking a "Pet Store Near Me" for their animal companions, Pet Supermarket, located at 9294 Kingston Pike, Knoxville, TN 37922, USA, represents one of several options available for purchasing pet supplies and certain types of pets. As a general pet retail establishment, it aims to cater to a broad spectrum of pet owner needs, offering a variety of goods and services commonly found in larger chain pet stores. Prospective customers often look for a comprehensive introduction to such stores, covering aspects like the environment, services, key features, and any notable promotions.
The environment within Pet Supermarket, based on customer feedback, presents a mixed picture. One review expresses significant concern regarding the conditions of the betta fish, noting they were housed in "a little glass cup with a plant, so they couldn't even move around," which was described as "heartbreaking." This observation suggests that the aquatic animal welfare practices at this particular location may be a point of concern for some visitors. In contrast, other aspects of the store's environment, while not explicitly detailed, are implied to be sufficient for general shopping, allowing customers to browse for various pet necessities. It's typical for such stores to have aisles stocked with different categories of pet products, and the overall cleanliness and organization can vary. The diverse nature of feedback indicates that individual experiences regarding the store's environment may differ, with specific attention drawn to the conditions of certain animals.
Regarding services and goods for sale, Pet Supermarket aims to provide a wide array of products consistent with a general "Pet Store Near Me" offering. While specific inventory details are not exhaustive in the provided reviews, it can be inferred that the store carries pet food, treats, toys, and accessories for common household pets. A particularly positive highlight from a customer review points to expertise in specialized animal care, specifically mentioning "the things it takes to take care of my sulcata tortoise." This suggests that the store, or at least certain staff members, possess knowledge in reptile care, which is a valuable service for owners of less common pets. This specific interaction underscores the potential for finding informed assistance for particular animal needs. However, the first review indicates that general pricing might be a concern for some customers, describing items as "overpriced." This suggests that while a range of goods is available, the perceived value may vary depending on individual consumer expectations and comparisons with competing pet supply outlets.
Key features of Pet Supermarket, drawn from the customer reviews, include both areas of strength and areas that receive criticism. A significant positive feature highlighted is the **knowledgeability and helpfulness of certain staff members**, specifically "the manager MK," who was praised for expertise concerning **sulcata tortoise care**. This indicates that the store can be a valuable resource for specific pet information, particularly for reptiles. The phrase "I would definitely recommend this place to anyone that has any kind of reptile or any other animal because they are very knowledgeable and very helpful" strongly suggests that customer service, at least in certain departments, is a strong point, providing valuable guidance to pet owners. However, a contrasting feature, as noted by another customer, is the **perceived high pricing** of products. The strong sentiment of "Everything was so overpriced" and the recommendation to visit a competitor "5 minutes down the road to Petco" for better value indicate that price competitiveness might be a fluctuating aspect of the store's feature set. Furthermore, the concern over the **welfare of the betta fish** points to a potentially critical feature regarding animal care practices, which can significantly influence customer perception and loyalty.
As for promotional information, no explicit marketing or promotional offers are detailed within the provided customer reviews. Therefore, an objective introduction must rely on the indirect promotional impact of the customer experiences themselves. The strong positive review highlighting helpful and knowledgeable staff, particularly for specialized pet care like reptiles, serves as an organic promotion for that aspect of the store's service. The manager MK's specific expertise in sulcata tortoise care would likely attract owners of such pets, acting as a direct, if unadvertised, promotional draw for that niche. Conversely, the highly negative review concerning overpriced items and the perceived poor conditions for betta fish acts as a significant counter-promotion, potentially deterring customers who prioritize animal welfare and competitive pricing. The recommendation to a competitor suggests that, for some consumers, alternative "Pet Store Near Me" options might offer more appealing value propositions. In the absence of formal promotions, the reputation of Pet Supermarket in Knoxville is thus largely shaped by these contrasting customer experiences, influencing how local users perceive its overall value and ethical standing.
In conclusion, Pet Supermarket at 9294 Kingston Pike, Knoxville, TN 37922, USA, and reachable at (865) 690-2951, serves as a general "Pet Store Near Me" for pet owners in the area. It offers a range of pet supplies and, based on some experiences, can provide knowledgeable assistance, particularly in areas like reptile care. However, customer perceptions regarding pricing and certain animal welfare practices, specifically concerning betta fish, vary significantly. For local users, weighing these diverse experiences is crucial when considering Pet Supermarket for their pet supply needs. While some may find the staff helpful for specific inquiries, others might find the pricing and animal care conditions to be points of concern, leading them to explore alternative options in the Knoxville area.

Feb 24, 2025 · Terry PraterMK is a marvelous employee and always has the best of knowledge about the things that I need help with. It’s a bummer that the store now closes two hours earlier than it had before, as I tried to stop in today to shop and was informed of the hour change and it doesn’t fit my schedule anymore.
Apr 07, 2025 · Saree LouiseCustomer service is okay, they were out of catnip which is why I came. I should have called so I headed over to PetSmart. She said they had ordered catnip this week but it didn't come in the delivery. So I should try next week. But it goes to show that they're inventory and delivery service doesn't work very well. Recommend call ahead if it's a special item.
Jul 24, 2023 · Leesa KatherinePet Supermarket is a great place to get reasonably priced pet supplies! The guy who sold me my sweet Bunlee was very nice and professional. The only thing I wish is that rabbits came with some kind of paperwork. After going back to pick it up I was told they only do paperwork on ferrets.
