Louisiana Fish Store

Nice selection. Not super friendly if you're a casual. I stopped in looking for a few things, but also don't advice as I'm new to the hobby. They had a great selection. The long haired bearded guy that was working wasn't super friendly. He was a bit stand offish and was overall dismissive. Maybe it was a bad day. Nothing insane that I would hold against them, but I'll probably just go to another store next time.

Very friendly staff both in person and over the phone. I recently got into the hobby to get my girlfriend a fish for her birthday, and the two ladies I talked to here were both very helpful and went out of their way to help me. One easily talked to me for around 20 minutes about the basics of fish care, starting up a new tank, what kinds of fish would thrive best in the tank I had, etc... Everyone here seemed to really enjoy their job, unlike stores like PetCo where the workers simply try to sell you things. Will become a regular here for all my fishy needs!

Best fish store in Baton Rouge hands down. Very knowledgeable. If they don't have it they'll order it. Check out some of my family fish.

The staff at the Louisiana Fish Store are the best! Always helpful with checking water chemical levels, explaining how it works, and making suggestions on how to treat problems. They went above and beyond when my setup stopped cycling water. I noticed on a Monday evening when the store was closed. I reached out on Facebook and got a very fast reply and instructions. They helped get everything back working in no time. Highly recommend for all your aquatic needs!

This is an updated and expanded review as I've now been coming here fairly religiously. I lost my black water stuff to a bacterium illness and the staff here supported and offered all their knowledge at every step to help me cure my tank. They have a pretty killer selection of fish(with shipments that come in wed/thur and are available for sale the day after they arrive) and can find just about anything you want with enough time and patients on our part as the customer. And they carry quality chemicals at prices that beat or meet Amazon without the wait. I have since bought a larger tank from them, hundreds of dollars more in fish and spent an immense amount of time here. This is not petco to pander to you if you wanna cram 10 goldfish in a 10 gallon, there's no judgement but the wonderful staff here won't deliberately set you or your pets up to fail. If you want complacent yes men that will let you kill your purchases with poor husbandry this isn't really the place.(And the negative reviews I think are folks who just want to be told yes or who are used to big box stores) They have a wealth of knowledge and are happy to share and teach! I've learned in leaps and bounds and am now keeping things I long thought out of my ability to manage. I love this shop and all they do. They are always competitively priced and the service is bar none the best in town. John/Fabian/Jaime are my go to for any questions and are always happy to help and or source new fish or items.
