Gomez Pet Shop Introduce
Gomez Pet Shop, located at 4025 W Waters Ave in Tampa, FL, presents itself as a family-owned pet shop catering to the local community. Operating under the platform category "Pet Store Near Me," Gomez Pet Shop offers a selection of live animals and pet-related supplies. Based on the available customer reviews, experiences appear to vary significantly, offering contrasting perspectives on the store's environment and animal care.
One customer described Gomez Pet Shop as "berry friendly and helpful," highlighting the family-owned nature of the business. This reviewer noted a "very large selection of beautiful bites asst affordable prices," suggesting a potentially wide array of pet food options available at competitive prices. The same customer also mentioned being shown birds that were being hand-fed and trained, indicating a level of interaction and care provided to some of the animals. The variety of birds observed ranged from finches to parrots and exotic lovebirds. Additionally, the store reportedly had young and adult chickens, as well as other small animals such as chinchillas and rabbits. This reviewer specifically commented on the cleanliness of the cages, stating, "All three cages were clean. It was clear that they care about their pets." This positive experience led the customer to feel comfortable making a purchase from Gomez Pet Shop and recommending a visit, noting the "large selection of foods also" and deeming it "Worth the visit :-)."
However, a starkly contrasting review paints a concerning picture of the store's conditions. This customer stated they "just was stopped and walked into this pet store and this is not a place for pets to be kept their all malnourished and look half dead." This is a serious accusation regarding the basic welfare of the animals housed at Gomez Pet Shop. The reviewer further elaborated on the conditions of the birds, describing them as "so over packed into each cages stacked an stacked everywhere." Overcrowding can lead to stress, disease, and a poor quality of life for animals.
The most distressing part of this negative review involves a leopard gecko. The customer reported seeing a gecko that was "litterally on his last leg" and appeared "so malnourished not fed and dehydrated it was disgusted." When this was brought to the attention of a staff member, the response was allegedly to ask for $70 for the severely ill animal. The reviewer expressed shock and disgust at the attempt to sell such a compromised animal for that price. The interaction reportedly ended with the staff member taking the gecko out and handling it roughly, further alarming the customer who felt the animal was "so skin and bone" and could have been harmed. This account raises significant concerns about the level of care and ethical practices at Gomez Pet Shop.
Considering these two very different accounts, it is challenging to form a definitive objective picture of Gomez Pet Shop. The positive review suggests a family-run business with a good selection, friendly service, and attention to cleanliness, at least in some areas of the store. The negative review, however, presents serious allegations of animal neglect, overcrowding, and potentially unethical sales practices. It is possible that the conditions within the store are inconsistent, or that different customers have had varying experiences based on the specific animals they observed or their interactions with different staff members.
Based on the information available, it is not possible to accurately describe the overall environment of Gomez Pet Shop. One review indicates clean cages and a caring attitude towards the animals, while the other describes malnourished and overcrowded conditions. Similarly, the services offered are only partially revealed. The store sells live animals, including a variety of birds (finches, parrots, exotic lovebirds), young and adult chickens, chinchillas, and rabbits. They also offer a "very large selection of foods" for various types of pets. The staff is described by one reviewer as "berry friendly and helpful" and "extreamly knowlagable," while the other reviewer's interaction was negative and concerning.
Features of Gomez Pet Shop, as suggested by the reviews, include its family-owned status and a potentially large selection of animals and pet food. The presence of hand-fed and trained birds could be considered a unique feature, suggesting a level of interaction and care beyond basic maintenance for some of their animals. However, the alleged mistreatment and attempt to sell a severely ill animal, if accurate, would be a significant negative feature.
There is no promotional information available in the provided reviews. Therefore, it is not possible to comment on any special offers or discounts that Gomez Pet Shop might be running.
In conclusion, Gomez Pet Shop in Tampa, FL, appears to be a pet store with a family-owned operation and a variety of animals for sale, including birds, chickens, and small mammals, along with a large selection of pet foods. However, the stark contrast in customer reviews presents a mixed picture. While one customer experienced friendly service, a good selection, and clean animal enclosures, another reported severe concerns about animal welfare, including malnourishment, overcrowding, and unethical treatment. Potential customers should be aware of these conflicting reports and may wish to visit the store in person to assess the conditions and the health of the animals before making any purchases. It would be prudent to carefully observe the animals, their living conditions, and interact with the staff to form their own informed opinion about Gomez Pet Shop.

Aug 01, 2024 · Levi AbneyI have driven over from Lake Placid several times and have bought Lovebirds and Conures. The prices are incredible and the birds healthy. I don't speak Spanish but have no problems communicating with the staff. Everyone was pleasant. It is a working, breeding pet store and can look it, but I would never call it dirty!
Jul 20, 2024 · Joe TyraAll kinds of Birds. Beautiful Birds. Lots of different color singing Canaries!
Sep 22, 2024 · Alida QuinonesI'm very pleased with the purchase of two budgies. The staff is very knowledgeable and they helped us to select a young couple to possibly have babies in the future. They have low prices and a wide variety of birds to choose from.
