Please avoid this place if you care about animals. I wish I could give this place less than one star. Feel free to go here if you want to see animals living in horrible conditions. The birds are stressed/have dirty cages, the reptiles claw on their packed enclosures (I also noticed 2 20ft boas piled on each other with no room to move which deeply saddened me), and their guinea pigs are living in soiled bedding that you can smell from outside of the store. I’m all for independent pet stores that supply goods for exotic animals but this place really seems negligent and inhumane!

Burbank Scales 'N' Tails Introduce

Welcome to Burbank Scales 'N' Tails, a pet store located at 1701 W Magnolia Blvd in Burbank, California. We aim to provide supplies for exotic animals to the Burbank community and surrounding Los Angeles areas. However, it is important to note that customer reviews raise serious concerns about the welfare of the animals housed in this store.

The environment within Burbank Scales 'N' Tails is described negatively by multiple reviewers, who report animals living in what they consider to be horrible conditions. Specific observations include stressed birds in dirty cages, reptiles, such as boas, clawing on packed enclosures with limited space, and guinea pigs housed in soiled bedding with a noticeable smell emanating from outside the store. The overall impression is one of potential neglect and inhumane treatment of the animals.

Burbank Scales 'N' Tails appears to offer a variety of exotic animals, including birds, reptiles (such as boas, an Argus monitor, and a white tegu), guinea pigs, corn snakes, and aquatic turtles, as well as presumably the supplies needed for their care. However, the conditions in which these animals are kept are a major point of concern. Reviews detail instances of reptiles in enclosures too small for them to stretch out, overcrowding of snakes in single enclosures, and aquatic turtles housed in what is described as an inadequate space with multiple species together. The bioactive tanks are reported to be in poor condition, and even the enclosures for more delicate animals like dart frogs were allegedly obscured due to lack of cleaning. The store's policy of 'no photos allowed' is interpreted by one reviewer as an attempt to hide these conditions.

A significant feature, based on customer reviews, is the concerning living conditions of the animals at Burbank Scales 'N' Tails. Multiple independent accounts describe stressed animals, dirty and cramped enclosures, overcrowding, and a lack of basic hygiene in some habitats. This raises serious questions about the store's standards of animal care and welfare. Potential customers who prioritize the ethical treatment of animals are strongly advised to consider these reports.

Currently, there is no information available regarding any promotions. However, given the serious concerns raised by multiple customers about the welfare of the animals, any potential promotions would likely be overshadowed by these critical issues. Local users who care about animals are urged to consider the reported conditions before visiting or purchasing from Burbank Scales 'N' Tails.

This place needs to be shut down. Any reptile store that says no photos allowed only do that because they know that they’re animals aren’t being kept in great conditions. Walked in and saw an Argus monitor and a white tegu both being kept in 30 gallon tanks. Even if it is temporary the tegu couldn’t even fully stretch out its body and looked miserable. Many snakes were being cohabited and just way too many snakes per enclosure. One small 5 gallon had to have at least 10 young corn snakes all crawling over each other. The bioactive tanks were all super gross looking. The dart frog enclosures I’m sure were nice but I literally couldn’t even see through the glass through all the algae and hard water spots. I have multiple bioactive setups and it doesn’t take much to just clean the doors. Do proper research before adopting a reptile. Lots of people say this stores amazing but they themselves don’t even realize what horrible condition they’re being kept in. They even had like 10 to 15 aquatic turtles all about 3 to 5 inches in shell length in an another 30 gallon tank of multiple different species. Insanely disappointed

Wow, this place is great. I wish I had more room to put in some more tanks. They have so many cool reptiles and great fish options. The tanks are amazingly clean, the fish and animals look super healthy, and you can tell they love what they do. They even board reptiles! Added to my list.

Came in today with 3 friends checking out the birds. One of my friends had a camcorder and apparently they don’t allow recording any of the animals. The employee with brown hair was incredibly rude and had the grumpiest way of asking my friend to stop filming. I said that he didn’t have to ask so rudely and the employee huffed and puffed that there are signs all over saying no filming. Ok, we’re sorry we missed them, and are happy to stop filming, just don’t be so mean about it? It’s our first time in, we didn’t know. Then, when I pushed back on what he said, he exploded about how if we didn’t like it we could leave. Ok we’ll leave your store, I just hope the caged animals can escape the horrible vibes of your store sooner rather than later…

This place is like the puppy mill of reptiles. Some of their reptiles are very sickly and still being cohabited. Pretty sure that Uromastyx is dead. Also, according to one of the employees the cages with receipts are animals being boarded, so I’m guessing they’re boarding people’s pets with their own stock? My stomach really sank when I saw a baby bearded dragon being cohabited with an entirely different species. DO NOT support this place PLEASE.
