Drove 3 hours for the visit. No regrets. Kind and calm. Not in a rush. Maybe I am comparing it with human doctor visits as we don’t visit the vet much (nor the human doctor for that matter), but even still, the principle is the same… Treat people and animals well, and that vibe was felt during our visit. 😊

Environment and Philosophy

Family Pets Veterinary Care and Acupuncture prides itself on fostering a kind, calm, and welcoming environment for both pets and their owners. The philosophy here is deeply rooted in treating every animal as a member of the family, ensuring that each visit is as comfortable and stress-free as possible. This empathetic approach is consistently highlighted in client testimonials, with many noting the unhurried nature of appointments and the genuine care extended by the staff. One satisfied customer, who drove three hours for a visit, expressed "No regrets. Kind and calm. Not in a rush... Treat people and animals well, and that vibe was felt during our visit." This sentiment underscores the clinic's commitment to creating a positive experience, recognizing that a pet’s comfort is just as important as the medical treatment they receive. The atmosphere is designed to be relaxing, with the goal of making pets, even those who might typically be anxious, feel at ease. Many pets, like "Bubba" in a glowing review, are noted to be "relaxed in the office," often taking naps during treatments like acupuncture.

Comprehensive Services Offered

As a leading pet hospital in Fayetteville, Family Pets Veterinary Care and Acupuncture offers a wide array of services designed to meet the diverse health needs of your pets. Their offerings encompass both conventional and alternative treatments, providing a well-rounded approach to animal wellness:

  • Diagnostic & Internal Medicine: Utilizing state-of-the-art equipment, the clinic can diagnose a full range of potential medical needs. They offer in-house lab services for fast results, including chemistry profiles, Parvo, Pancreatitis, Tick-borne diseases, and Feline leukemia testing. Most illnesses can be treated as out-patient cases, with detailed treatment plans and medications provided for home care.
  • Comprehensive Wellness Exams: Recognizing that pets cannot verbally communicate discomfort, annual full-body exams are highly recommended. These thorough check-ups include examination of eyes, ears, nose, throat, teeth and gums, lymph nodes, heart and lungs, abdomen, temperature, and overall body condition, including weight, coat, and skin.
  • Preventative Medicine: A strong emphasis is placed on long-term health through preventative care. This includes:
    • Puppy Exams: Ensuring a healthy start for young pets with overall health assessments.
    • Vaccinations: Offering both annual and 3-year vaccination protocols tailored to individual pet needs.
    • Dental Hygiene: Providing dental chews and Oravet, a plaque barrier applied after professional cleanings, to maintain oral health.
    • Parasite Program: A systematic approach to tackling fleas, ticks, heartworm, and other parasites.
    • Nutritional Counseling: Expert advice and solutions for pets with weight concerns, special medical needs, or requiring temporary food replacements.
  • Acupuncture & Herbal Medicine: A cornerstone of their holistic offerings, acupuncture is frequently used for conditions such as arthritis, IVDD, degenerative myelopathy, allergies, and Cushing's disease. Dr. Cyphers, a highly experienced veterinarian, customizes treatment protocols, often complemented by herbal medications for continuous home care. A typical first acupuncture appointment lasts about an hour, including a detailed history discussion, with needles remaining in place for about 20 minutes, during which many pets relax and nap. Sessions are usually weekly for 4-8 weeks, then tapered to seasonal maintenance.
  • Acute Medical Care: For sudden illnesses or injuries, Family Pets Veterinary Care provides immediate attention with rapid in-house diagnostics and treatment.
  • Surgery: The clinic performs various surgical procedures, ranging from eye surgeries (Cherry eye, enucleation, entropian) and ear surgeries (Aural Hematoma, Lateral Ear Resection, Ear Canal Ablation) to wound treatments, laceration repairs, abscesses, biopsies, intestinal and stomach procedures, urinary tract surgeries (stone removal, urethral obstruction), and trauma care.
  • Allergy Testing & Solutions: Addressing skin issues like excessive scratching, chewing, or licking, which can indicate underlying allergies, infections, or metabolic problems.
  • Pain Control & Treatment: Dedicated to improving pets' quality of life by identifying and managing pain, offering both short-term comfort and long-term relief strategies.
  • Drop-Off Appointments: Understanding busy schedules, the clinic offers drop-off appointments, allowing owners to leave their pets for scheduled care and pick them up later the same day, with prior arrangement.
  • End of Life Care: The clinic also provides humane options for end-of-life care, including euthanasia services.

Dr. Cyphers and her staff are wonderful, very caring and thorough. The treatment plan with acupuncture for Bubba (our older dog) has helped his mobility and he seems happier and more enthusiastic about going for walks. Bubba likes everyone there and is very relaxed in the office.

I am so grateful that we found Family Pets Veterinary Care! Our pup has a history of abuse before we were lucky enough to adopt him. Every staff member here always approaches him with kindness and understanding as he is always fearful with vet visits. I have not found another practice in the area that treats its patients so well! Thank you for everything you do for my peace of mind and for Clark’s well being!

If it would let me give zero stars I would. I would not recommend them to anyone. My dog went into the office pretty happy and by the time they brought him back to me he wouldn’t get off of the floor. I had to carry him to the car and I had to rush him to the emergency hospital immediately. I had to have him put to sleep the same day. He was our baby for 11 years and they made his problem much worse and ruptured his spleen while he was in their care. Budget friendly is not always best. They should stick to grooming.

I wouldn’t take my precious baby anywhere else. Dr. Cyphers and her entire staff are kind, empathetic and supportive. We absolutely adore them and I’m extremely grateful for their caring attitude towards my fur baby. Licorice loves Dr. Cyphers ❤️
