Visited today with my 7 month old puppy. Only ran into one other dog. Speaking with owner(s) that frequent regularly, seems to be a decent dog park. A nearby neighbor brings water daily with bowls for dogs to drink, there's also ample poop bags. Did see some random poop but you'd see the same thing, if you walked your dog. Will visit again!

Welcome to Woodview Off-Leash Dog Area
For dog owners across Minnesota, finding the perfect spot for your canine companion to stretch their legs and socialize is always a top priority. In the heart of Roseville, a true gem awaits: the Woodview Off-Leash Dog Area. This beloved park offers a fantastic environment for dogs of all sizes to enjoy off-leash freedom, surrounded by the natural beauty of our Minnesota landscape. Whether you're a long-time resident or new to the area, Woodview provides a welcoming and vibrant space for both pets and their people.
The Woodview Off-Leash Dog Area is more than just a patch of grass; it's a community hub where dogs can play, explore, and make new friends, all while their owners connect with fellow dog lovers. The park is a testament to the dedication of local residents and the City of Roseville, transforming what was once a less-utilized space into a cherished recreation area. Its thoughtful design and commitment to cleanliness make it a standout choice for dog owners seeking a safe and enjoyable outing.
Conveniently situated in Roseville, the Woodview Off-Leash Dog Area is easily accessible for residents throughout the Twin Cities metro area. You can find this welcoming park at Larpenteur Ave W, Roseville, MN 55113, USA. Its central location makes it a prime destination for a quick visit or a dedicated afternoon of play.
When it comes to getting there, Woodview offers practical accessibility. Free parking is available near the entrance, though during peak hours, it can get busy. Some visitors also note that alternative street parking might be an option on nearby Mackubin Street. The park is nestled within Reservoir Woods Park, an expansive natural area that adds to the overall appeal and offers additional trails for leashed walks outside of the off-leash boundaries.
The Woodview Off-Leash Dog Area is designed to cater to the needs of both dogs and their owners, offering several key services and conveniences:
Separated Dog Areas: The park features distinct areas for different dog sizes. There is a primary large, open area for bigger dogs to roam freely, which is accessed by a path. Additionally, a smaller, fully fenced enclosure is available, specifically suitable for smaller dogs or those who prefer a less boisterous environment. This separation helps ensure a safer and more comfortable experience for all.
Waste Management: Understanding the importance of cleanliness, the park provides ample dog waste bags and trash containers. This encourages all visitors to diligently clean up after their pets, contributing to a tidy and pleasant environment for everyone.
Water Access: While there isn't a permanent water fountain for dogs, reviews mention that some considerate neighbors who frequent the park often bring communal water bowls and water for thirsty pups, especially during warmer months. It's always a good idea to bring your own water bottle and bowl for your dog, just in case.
Seating Areas: For owners who want to relax while their dogs play, there are shaded seating areas available within the park.
Woodview Off-Leash Dog Area boasts several features that make it a standout choice for Minnesota dog owners:
Fully Fenced Enclosures: Both the large and small dog areas are fully fenced, providing a secure environment where dogs can safely run and play without concern for wandering off. The double-gated entrance further enhances safety, preventing accidental escapes.
Natural and Wooded Terrain: The park incorporates natural elements, including wooded areas and some open spaces. This provides diverse environments for dogs to explore, sniff, and enjoy. The presence of trees offers welcome shade on sunny days.
Walking Paths: Within the off-leash area, you’ll find soft trails that encourage both dogs and their owners to walk and explore the space. While reviews indicate that the primary large dog area is mostly open, these paths add another dimension to your visit.
Community Atmosphere: Many visitors highlight the friendly and welcoming community at Woodview. It’s common for owners to chat and socialize while their dogs interact, fostering a sense of camaraderie among local dog enthusiasts.
Adaptive Reuse of Space: Interestingly, the Woodview Off-Leash Dog Area has a unique history, having been transformed from a former dump site into a vibrant park. This transformation showcases a commitment to revitalizing local spaces for public benefit.
As a public park, the Woodview Off-Leash Dog Area typically does not offer specific promotions or special offers in the traditional sense. Access to the park is generally free for visitors and their dogs, making it an accessible option for all local residents. However, its value lies in the free, expansive, and secure environment it provides for dogs to exercise and socialize.
The “special offer” here is the daily opportunity for your dog to experience off-leash freedom in a well-maintained setting, without any membership fees or daily passes required, which sets it apart from some other private or regional dog park facilities.

The Woodview Off-Leash Dog Area is an ideal destination for dog owners throughout Minnesota, particularly those in the Roseville and surrounding Twin Cities communities. Its suitability stems from several key factors that directly benefit local users and their furry companions. For starters, the fully fenced design provides a crucial layer of security, allowing dogs to run and play freely, and giving owners peace of mind that their pets are contained in a safe environment. This is especially valuable for puppies or dogs still working on their recall.
The thoughtful separation of space into areas for both large and small dogs ensures that every canine, regardless of size or temperament, can enjoy their visit. This inclusive approach fosters a more harmonious and less intimidating atmosphere for all park-goers. Furthermore, the provision of waste bags and ample disposal bins highlights a commitment to cleanliness, a feature highly appreciated by responsible dog owners who value a well-maintained public space. The fact that local community members often contribute by bringing water for dogs during visits further exemplifies the supportive and considerate atmosphere you'll find here.
Beyond the practical amenities, Woodview offers a vital social outlet for both dogs and their humans. It’s a place where puppies can learn social cues from older, well-adjusted dogs, and where owners can connect with like-minded individuals, sharing tips and experiences. The park's natural setting, with its wooded sections and open spaces, provides a stimulating environment for dogs to explore and engage their senses, going beyond just a flat, open field. While it's noted to be "pretty small" by some, its effective use of space and features ensures a rewarding experience. The convenient Roseville location also means less travel time and more play time for busy Minnesotans. In essence, Woodview Off-Leash Dog Area isn't just a dog park; it's a community asset that promotes responsible pet ownership, encourages outdoor activity, and strengthens the bonds between pets and their families right here in Minnesota.

Jan 04, 2025 · Kristin MartinPretty small, mostly just an open area for the larger dogs that you need to go down a path to get to. The small dog area is tiny. Nicely wooded and well kept though.
Aug 03, 2024 · Alicia LaBrosseA highly recommended and undiscovered piece of heaven. This 2.5 mile hiking area is mostly paved and provides a smallish fenced in area for smallish dogs and down the path, a larger partially fenced in area for bigger dogs. But, it's ok if you wanna mix things up a bit. The larger fenced area runs along side a marshy area that is accessible to your dog, so if your dog likes water, bring towels. This park is connected to many other hiking areas as shown in the pic. June 2019
Jun 05, 2019 · Tracy BUpper smaller area is now for small dogs only. Temporary signage is up until permanent signage is ready. Fully fenced off leash area for all dog sizes is down the hill. Has shade which is nice. Porta bathroom available. Make sure and lock vehicle and don't leave anything of value in plain site to invite thieves. I have seen broken window glass in the parking lot on numerous occasions.
May 30, 2020 · Dave BorgmanWe use the upper smaller area because our 70lbs dog can be dog reactive. We like going here but find that folks don’t always pick up after their animals. We have picked up many poop piles while being there. It’s bizarre to us because they have literal bags of bags. Why would you NOT pick up after your dog? It’s disrespectful of the area and just gross. That’s our only issue. Otherwise, it’s a nice space and our dog loves it! Here’s a picture of him happy as a clam while being there!
