Sawgrass Veterinary Cardiology

Our 6 y/o mixed breed dog Ella was recently diagnosed with early stage DCM. Due to lack of knowledge about this disease, we were left feeling helpless and uneasy, not knowing what to expect. We made an apt with Dr. Carpenter for a second opinion and to get more information. Ella’s appointment with Sawgrass Cardiology was this week and we were absolutely blown away by the care we received. We have 6 dogs of our own and foster/rescue. So naturally, we have seen many vets and specialists of all kinds. Never in my life have I walked into a treatment room to be greeted by 3 veterinarians and 2 nurses. Everyone was so nice and friendly and put us at ease. We stayed with our dog the entire time while the team performed several tests, including a complete echocardiogram. After the tests, the team discussed the findings amongst themselves. Afterwards, Dr. Hertzer, who was absolutely amazing, spoke with us at length about the findings. He put our minds at ease by providing an abundant amount of information and educating us about how the heart works so that we could better understand the suspected disease. He answered every question I could think of. No matter how silly the question was, they took their time to provide thorough answers. We left feeling so much better equipped to handle the diagnosis, having so much more information on the disease, what to expect, and what we can do to provide our dog with the best possible care. The following day, we received a 17 page document detailing everything and then some that we went over at the appointment. Only downside is now the bar has really been raised for for all vet care needs. Would give Sawgrass Cardiology 10 stars if I could. We are so grateful to Dr. Carpenter, Dr. Hertzer and the entire team.

Dr. Carpenter and staff were fantastic and gentle, my girl gets very nervous at the vet office and yet she remained calm during her examination and ultrasound. The time they took to explain her condition and the options we had for treatment are really appreciated.

Dr Carpenter and the entire staff our amazing. They took great care of our boxer and of us. Anytime you have to visit a specialist it is a stressful time, but Dr Carpenter and the staff made us feel like family. He explained all of the tests & procedures in detail, then provided us with the treatment the options making sure he laid out all the pro's and cons. He was very candidate yet compassionate, and also ensured we were very well informed in our decision making process. He invited us to be present in all of the testing which made it easier on us and our baby Ginger. There were no gotcha's or hidden surprises when it came to the cost of services. He again explained everything ahead of time and any associated costs. No one ever wants to have to see a Cardiologist, but when you do it is great to know you have someone like Dr Carpenter in your corner who has you and your pets best interest at heart.

DR Hertzer is absolutely amazing. Even though my dog didn't make it (Cancer) if anyone out there has a animal dealing with a cardiac issue MAKE SURE TO VISIT DR HERTZER!! I've never felt so comfortable at such a desperate time. Thanks again Dr Hertzer
