The good: this is a fine dog park, very large with lots of features and friendly people. The bad: there is a large homeless encampment near the river so be cautious going down there. The parking lot was occupied by a few trashy redneck kids blasting awful music.

Welcome to Wiggly Field Dog Park
For dog owners in Washington, finding the perfect spot for your canine companion to run, play, and socialize is a top priority. Look no further than Wiggly Field Dog Park in Monroe, WA, a dedicated off-leash area designed with your furry friend's happiness in mind. This popular park offers a generous space where dogs can enjoy freedom and exercise, making it a beloved destination for local residents and their four-legged family members.
Wiggly Field Dog Park is more than just an open field; it's a community-driven initiative that provides a vital service for the pet-owning population of Monroe and the surrounding areas. Created and built by dedicated volunteers in partnership with the City of Monroe in 2009, this park embodies the spirit of community and canine well-being. It's a place where dogs can truly be dogs, engaging in joyful romps and making new friends, while owners can relax and connect with fellow dog enthusiasts.
The park's mission is to offer a safe, enjoyable, and stimulating environment for dogs of all sizes and energy levels. While it provides ample room for running and playing, it's also important for visitors to be aware of the park's unique fencing design, which is adapted to its location near the Skykomish River. This thoughtful design helps to mitigate potential damage from annual winter flooding, but also means that portions of the park are not fully enclosed, particularly during certain times of the year. This detail underscores the importance of strong recall skills for dogs visiting the park and attentive supervision from their owners.
Wiggly Field Dog Park is a testament to the collective effort to create and maintain high-quality recreational spaces for pets in our community. Its continued existence and positive impact are a direct result of the ongoing collaboration between local residents, volunteers, and the City of Monroe, ensuring that Washington dogs have a fantastic place to call their own.
Wiggly Field Dog Park is conveniently located at 413 Sky River Pkwy, Monroe, WA 98272, USA. Situated at the south end of Skykomish River Park, it is easily accessible for residents of Monroe and surrounding communities within Snohomish County. The park's placement within the larger Sky River Park complex means visitors can often find ample parking, making for a straightforward and stress-free arrival.
The address provides clear directions for navigation, whether you're coming from within Monroe or traveling from nearby towns. Its location along Sky River Parkway makes it a visible and easily identifiable spot. For those who enjoy combining a dog park visit with other outdoor activities, the proximity to Skykomish River Park offers additional opportunities for leashed walks outside the off-leash area, and other park amenities.
While the park is generally very accessible, it's worth noting the natural surroundings. As mentioned in some user reviews, the park's location near the Skykomish River means that during certain seasons, particularly winter, the wire mesh fencing along some sides may be removed to accommodate flooding. This is an important consideration for owners of dogs who may be prone to wandering, emphasizing the need for active supervision. During the summer months, wire mesh is typically added to deter smaller dogs from slipping out. The overall design aims to balance accessibility, flood prevention, and providing an off-leash space.
Wiggly Field Dog Park focuses primarily on providing an open and enriching environment for off-leash dog play. While it doesn't offer structured, paid services in the traditional sense (like training classes or grooming), it facilitates crucial services for dog owners through its very existence as a public dog park:
- Off-Leash Play Area: The core service is the provision of a spacious 2.5-acre area where dogs can run, play, and interact freely without leashes.
- Socialization Opportunities: The park serves as a hub for canine socialization, allowing dogs to develop their social skills by interacting with a variety of other dogs in a controlled yet open environment.
- Exercise and Recreation: It offers a vital space for dogs to get the physical exercise they need, promoting their health and well-being.
- Community Hub: For dog owners, the park acts as a community gathering point, fostering connections among local residents who share a common love for their pets.
Wiggly Field Dog Park boasts several features designed to enhance the experience for both dogs and their owners. These highlights contribute to its reputation as a fine local dog park:
- Large, Expansive Area: The park spans approximately 2.5 acres, providing ample room for dogs to run, fetch, and explore without feeling confined. This generous size is often praised by visitors, allowing for energetic play and less crowded conditions.
- Agility Equipment: For dogs who enjoy a challenge or owners looking to engage their pets in more structured play, the park includes various agility obstacles. This equipment adds an extra layer of fun and mental stimulation for the dogs. While some reviews mention that one obstacle may be broken and unfixed at times, the presence of such features is a significant draw.
- Shade Trees: Offering a welcome respite from the sun, the presence of shade trees helps keep both dogs and their owners comfortable, especially during warmer months.
- Small Covered Shelter: A covered shelter provides a place for dogs and people to cool off or seek refuge from light rain, enhancing the comfort and usability of the park.
- Dog Drinking Fountain: While some reviews suggest bringing your own water, the park is equipped with a dog drinking fountain, a convenient amenity for hydrating thirsty pups after vigorous play.
- Benches and Seating: Benches are available for owners to sit and observe their dogs, fostering a relaxed atmosphere.
- Garbage Cans: Properly placed garbage cans are available for convenient disposal of dog waste, promoting cleanliness and responsible pet ownership.
- Parking Lot: Ample parking is a consistent highlight, making visits convenient for all.
- Volunteer-Built and Maintained: The park's origin as a volunteer-built initiative in partnership with the City of Monroe speaks to the community's dedication to its upkeep.
It is important for visitors to be aware of the fencing situation. The north side has an 8-foot high chain link fence, while the remaining sides feature a 4-foot split rail fence, with wire mesh added during summer months. This design, while mitigating flood damage from the Skykomish River, means the park is not fully fenced in a way that would contain all dogs, especially those prone to wandering or with poor recall. Users have noted this, advising caution and strong supervision, especially during winter months when the wire mesh may be removed. Additionally, there have been occasional reports of a homeless encampment near the river and instances of disruptive behavior in the parking lot, which visitors should be mindful of.
As a public city park, Wiggly Field Dog Park does not typically offer commercial promotions or special offers in the traditional retail sense. Its primary "offer" is free access to a dedicated off-leash dog area for all residents and visitors.
However, the park often serves as a venue for community-organized or city-sponsored events that could be considered "special offers" in a broader sense. These might include:
- Community Dog Walks: Local groups or the city might organize "Wiggly Walks" or similar events that encourage community engagement and exercise for dogs and their owners.
- Pet Adoption Events: Occasionally, animal shelters or rescue organizations might host adoption days or informational events at or near the park, providing opportunities to meet adoptable pets.
- Educational Workshops: There might be free workshops on dog training, responsible pet ownership, or even veterinary wellness clinics, though these would be advertised through city channels or local pet organizations.
To stay informed about any such community events or informal "special offers" happening at or around Wiggly Field Dog Park, residents should check the City of Monroe's official website, local community calendars, or social media groups dedicated to Monroe pet owners. These are the most likely avenues for discovering opportunities beyond the park's daily free use.

Apr 28, 2025 · Brett LemoineNot fully fenced! This dog park is not a safe place for dogs that like to wander. The park is not fully fenced, so it is easy for your dog to get loose and end up in the parking lot or in the street.
Jan 24, 2025 · Allie JonesTried to go here but arrived only to find it is not fully fenced. Fence is all the way around, but is a two bar wooden fence (see other reviews that have pictures) that will not hold all dogs. Disappointed, looks nice but I don’t want my puppy to run away.
Jan 20, 2025 · Lily TWhat a fun park. Wish I could of stayed longer. It is “fully fenced” but this type of fencing dogs large and small can get out VERY easily. Unfortunately my Corgi pups recall isn’t great yet so I was a bit nervous to stay to long. Would love to come back if they can put paneling all around (or when I trust my dogs recall)to keep the pups in. I also encountered several dogs free roaming (with no owner in site the dirt parking lot.
Nov 23, 2022 · Regan SteeleLarge dog park. A small gazebo offers shelter from the rain. Fenced, but dogs can get out during the rainy season because the City removes the wire screening from the wooden fence due to flooding.
