Piermont Community Dog Run offers several essential services designed to ensure a well-maintained, engaging, and safe experience for dogs and their owners.

  • Separated Play Areas: The park features distinct "sections for small and large dogs." This crucial service allows dogs of different sizes and play styles to interact safely and comfortably with their appropriate peers. Small dogs can play without intimidation from larger, more boisterous canines, while big dogs have ample space for energetic romping. This thoughtful division enhances safety and contributes to a more harmonious environment for all.

  • Fenced-in Security: The dog run is a "fenced run and play area," providing a secure environment for off-leash play. This essential service offers peace of mind for owners, knowing their dogs are safely contained while enjoying freedom and exercise without the risk of wandering off or encountering hazards outside the designated play zone.

  • Well-Maintained Grounds: Visitors consistently describe the park as "well-maintained." This suggests ongoing efforts by volunteers and the community to keep the facility clean and functional. This includes landscaping, and the addition of "fresh wood chips," which help manage the ground cover and contribute to a pleasant aesthetic. A well-kept park enhances the overall user experience and promotes responsible waste disposal.

  • Tick Deterrence Efforts: In response to user feedback, the park has actively implemented measures to combat ticks, including the use of "organic cedar spray." This proactive approach to pest management demonstrates a commitment to visitor and pet safety, making the park a more comfortable and less worrisome environment for off-leash play.

  • Community Support and Membership: The dog run operates as a "community-supported membership club, open to all." While there's a suggested "one-time $25 payment on the honor system to join," guests are always welcome. This structure ensures that the park is sustained through local engagement, fostering a sense of shared ownership and collective responsibility for its upkeep.

  • Dog-Friendly Trail Access: Beyond the enclosed dog run, the broader Piermont area offers a "dog-friendly trail." This provides an opportunity for leashed walks before or after off-leash playtime, allowing for extended outdoor activity and enjoyment of the scenic surroundings.

These services collectively ensure that Piermont Community Dog Run functions as a responsible, engaging, and enjoyable venue for the unique needs of a dog park, prioritizing safety and a positive community experience.

Dog run is nice but both dogs covered in ticks including many nymphs when we left. Without exaggeration, dogs must have had 70-80 ticks on each of them and days later, despite flea/tick protection and vigilance, found one engorged on my dog. I’ve never seen so many ticks. Another reviewer mentioned this too, last year. I would steer clear- it’s not worth it. For reference, we visited in mid June.
