Recent rains have left 2 areas flooded in some parts, seem pictures. Big dog park for all sizes. Usually it is well stocked with pickup bags but you know sometimes you just have to search around in other play areas. Not a big deal. We come here everyday and my dog loves it. There are some dogs that could be made to behave as far as attacking other dogs when showing dominance is concerned. But I have never seen a big fight too, just keep an eye as always. As season changes the regulars change their timings too.

McInnish Dog Park is celebrated for its generous size, diverse terrain, and comprehensive amenities, all designed to ensure a fun and secure environment. Many local users attest to its consistent availability, often being open even when other dog parks might be closed due to minor weather conditions, a testament to its robust design and maintenance. Conveniently situated in Carrollton, Texas, McInnish Dog Park is easily accessible for residents throughout North Texas. You'll find this fantastic facility at:
1845 Legends Tr, Carrollton, TX 75006, USA
Its location within the larger McInnish Park complex (near the Carrollton Animal Services & Adoption Center) means ample parking is generally available, making visits straightforward. The park boasts extensive hours, typically open from sunrise to 10 p.m. daily, offering flexibility for both early risers and those looking for an evening romp. It's important for local users to be aware that McInnish Dog Park is regularly closed on Friday mornings from 7 a.m. to 10 a.m. for essential cleaning and maintenance. This consistent upkeep is a key factor in the park's reputation for being clean and well-maintained, although recent rains can occasionally lead to flooded areas, as noted by visitors.
McInnish Dog Park is well-equipped with a variety of services to enhance the experience for dogs and their owners:
Separate Play Areas: The park features distinct, fully-fenced sections catering to dogs of different sizes. There are generally three sections: a dedicated area for small dogs (typically under 30 lbs), a large area for big dogs (over 30 lbs), and a "general area" which often includes a swimming pond. This separation is crucial for safety, although users are advised to always supervise their dogs, as some larger dogs might occasionally venture into the small dog area.
Water Stations: Essential for keeping dogs hydrated, especially during Texas's warm months, water fountains are available throughout the park for dogs to drink. Some areas may have hoses for rinsing off muddy paws.
Waste Stations: Promoting responsible pet ownership, numerous waste stations are strategically placed throughout the park, usually well-stocked with complimentary pickup bags for convenient cleanup. While usually well-supplied, a quick search might be needed sometimes.
Shaded Seating: For the comfort of human companions, shaded seating areas and picnic tables are provided, offering spots to relax and observe their dogs.
Swimming Area: A significant highlight, the park includes a large pond within one of its sections, providing a fantastic opportunity for water-loving dogs to swim and cool off. This pond is gently graded, making it safe and easy for dogs to enter and exit.
What sets McInnish Dog Park apart as a premier destination for North Texas dog owners?
Expansive Size: McInnish Dog Park spans approximately four grassy acres, making it one of the larger dog parks in the region. This ample space means dogs have plenty of room to run, play, and explore without feeling confined.
Pond/Swimming Area: The presence of a dedicated pond for dogs to swim in is a major draw, especially during hot Texas summers. It's a popular feature for active dogs and a great way for them to cool down.
Varied Terrain: The park's design includes natural terrain and mature trees, offering stimulating environments for dogs and providing natural shade.
Obstacles/Agility Features: While not a full-fledged agility course, the park may include some obstacles or features that add to the fun and provide mental stimulation for dogs.
Double-Gated Entrances: For added safety and to prevent accidental escapes, the park utilizes double-gated entry systems into the off-leash areas.
Proximity to Animal Services: Being located behind the Carrollton Animal Services & Adoption Center can be a unique highlight for those considering adoption, as it connects the park to the wider animal welfare community.
Resilience to Weather: As noted by a local user, McInnish Dog Park often remains open even after light rain, making it a reliable choice when other parks might be temporarily closed due to mud or standing water, though larger rain events can cause temporary flooding in some areas.
While McInnish Dog Park itself doesn't typically run commercial promotions, it frequently serves as a hub for community-oriented pet events organized by the City of Carrollton or local animal welfare groups. These can include:
Low-Cost Vaccination and Microchipping Clinics: Events like "Paws on the Square" (though the main event might be elsewhere in Carrollton, vaccine clinics often get relocated to or near the Animal Services Center next to McInnish Park) frequently offer affordable veterinary services, making pet care more accessible for local residents.
Adoption Events: Given its proximity to the Animal Services & Adoption Center, the park may be a location or a nearby point of interest for adoption drives, helping connect adoptable pets with loving homes.
Community Gatherings: The park's popularity means it naturally fosters a community of regulars. Informal meet-ups or changes in "regular" timings with the seasons are common, as observed by a customer, demonstrating the park's role as a social nexus for dog owners.
Partnerships with Local Pet Care Services: The mention of DFW Critter Sitter using McInnish as a "base" highlights how local businesses in the pet care industry often recognize and utilize the park, potentially leading to special offers or collaborations for park visitors, though not directly from the park itself.
For information on upcoming events or services near McInnish Dog Park, local Texas residents should consult the City of Carrollton Parks & Recreation Department website or their social media channels, particularly around spring and fall when many pet-focused community events occur.

Jun 08, 2025 · Vik KWhen other dog parks are closed due to a light sprinkle, McInnish will be open. Max prefers this park, especially because it's a base for the best dog caregiver in North Texas, Angie Williamson at DFW Critter Sitter, with her dog flagship Marlo.
Apr 03, 2025 · Russell LipperdThe park is fantastic! Beautiful, and clean! The people have been kind, and pups very friendly. However, today after receiving unsolicited negative comments from a random man I’m hesitant to return. My dogs come here 2-4 times a day, for a little over a month now, and we’ve made many friends—both human and canine. This morning, my 1-year-old German Shepherds were running through the large park, letting out a few barks. We were completely alone on the big dog side. I’ve seen plenty of dogs chase and bark at others from the opposite side of the fence, so I didn’t realize this would be an issue for the people of Carrollton. If you see this, King of the Karen’s, my dogs are allowed to bark. Barking does not make them bad dogs just because they barked at yours from the other side of the fence. This interaction was inappropriate
Mar 19, 2025 · Savannah bell✅ separate fenced Area for small & large dogs. ✅ pond for swimming dogs. ✅ water fountain and tubes for washing off dogs dirt. ✅ shaded area and bench for sitting. Kinda dirty and dusty though. ✅ convenient parking. Came here on Sat morning, easy to find parking. Next to a school campus. Happy to see kids and dogs across the fence running at same time.
Nov 18, 2023 · Xinrui LiAmazing place to take your dogs to! They have 3 different sections of the park, which is extremely convenient. My dog Duke loves coming here to chase after squirrels 🐿 id say it's more clean than most parks (let's keep it that way). Great location right of G Bush. It's very easy to get to straight off the highway. Weekends may get crowded, but a lot of social activities for the doggo 🐶! Highly recommended if you like bringing your pets to the dog park. Large grassy areas for them to rub around. Besides, right now, we have had a lot of rain, so the pond is a bit flooded, but they still love getting into the water. The park has hoses to rinse off your dog 🐕 after getting dirty and a lot of trees 🌳! Great place to visit
