Welcome to Mayslake

For dog owners across Illinois, providing our beloved canine companions with ample space to run, play, and socialize off-leash is a top priority. This dedicated off-leash area offers a fantastic environment for dogs of all sizes to enjoy freedom and fun, making it a highly valued resource for pet parents throughout the region. Mayslake isn't just a patch of grass; it's a thoughtfully designed facility that has continually improved to meet the needs of its furry visitors and their human companions.

Located within the picturesque Mayslake Forest Preserve, this dog park provides a refreshing escape where dogs can truly be dogs. It's a place where happy barks and wagging tails are the norm, and where both canines and their owners can connect with nature and each other. What makes Mayslake Dog Park particularly appealing to Illinois residents is its commitment to providing separate, secure spaces, ensuring that every dog, from the tiniest Chihuahua to the largest Great Dane, has an appropriate and safe environment for play. This separation, coupled with various amenities, contributes to a positive and harmonious experience for all.

As responsible pet owners, we understand the importance of providing not just space, but also a well-maintained and convenient location. Mayslake Dog Park strives to offer just that, providing practical features that enhance comfort and ease for every visit. From essential waste bag provisions to designated areas for different dog sizes, this park demonstrates a dedication to creating an optimal off-leash experience. This article will delve into all the details that make Mayslake Dog Park a premier destination for dog lovers in Oak Brook and the wider Illinois community, covering its location, facilities, and why it's such a suitable spot for your four-legged family member.

Location and Accessibility

Mayslake Dog Park is conveniently located within the Mayslake Forest Preserve at 3401-3499 St Paschal Drive, Oak Brook, IL 60523, USA. This prime address places it easily accessible for residents throughout Oak Brook and the surrounding DuPage County area. The park's entrance is specifically on the west side of St. Paschal Drive, south of 31st Street and west of Route 83, making it straightforward to navigate to for first-time visitors and regulars alike.

Accessibility to Mayslake Dog Park is generally very good for those traveling by car. There is a dedicated parking lot for the dog park located on the west side of St. Paschal Drive. While customer reviews indicate that "Not a lot of parking spots & they fill quickly on weekends," they also reassuringly note that "cars are always coming & going just be patient." This suggests that while parking can be competitive during peak times, a spot usually becomes available with a little patience, reflecting the park's popularity and steady flow of visitors. This consistent turnover means that even on busy days, you're likely to find a space soon.

For Illinois residents relying on other modes of transport, it’s advisable to plan your route accordingly. While public transportation options in Oak Brook might require a bit of walking from a bus stop, the park’s primary design caters to vehicular access. Being part of the DuPage Forest Preserve District, Mayslake benefits from clear signage and established infrastructure, further enhancing its accessibility. Its location within a larger forest preserve also means visitors can combine a dog park visit with other recreational activities, such as walking trails, providing a more comprehensive outing for both pet and owner.

Promotions or Special Offers

As a public dog park managed by the Forest Preserve District of DuPage County, Mayslake Dog Park typically does not offer commercial promotions, discounts, or special offers in the retail sense. Its primary "offer" is the provision of a well-maintained, accessible, and safe environment for off-leash dog exercise for a nominal permit fee, which supports the park's upkeep.

However, it is crucial for Illinois residents to be aware that a permit is required for each dog to use the off-leash area at Mayslake. This is a standard practice for many Forest Preserve District dog parks in DuPage County. Permits can often be purchased annually or daily, with different rates for DuPage County residents versus non-residents. This system ensures that the facilities are properly maintained and managed for the benefit of all users.

To learn about the most current permit fees and purchase options, including any potential temporary waivers or special events that might impact entry, interested individuals should always consult the official website of the Forest Preserve District of DuPage County or contact them directly. Occasionally, the Forest Preserve District or local pet organizations might host free educational events, dog-friendly festivals, or adoption drives at various preserves, which could include Mayslake. These would be community-focused initiatives rather than commercial promotions, designed to enhance the public's engagement with the preserves and promote responsible pet ownership.

This place has improved so much since they opened several years ago! A good fenced in spot for small dogs up to 25lbs. And the area for large dogs is fantastic! Poop bags are supplied right before you enter the gate. They had a water pump for the dogs too by parking lot, not sure if it's still available. Not a lot of parking spots & they fill quickly on weekends but cars are always coming & going just be patient.

Love it … we come here at least once a day unless it’s closed some … only thing I would change if the water management is slightly better and the walking track at the entrance is slightly higher to avoid the water

This park has a gravel loop to walk, and grass/trees in the middle. It's very open so you can see your dog at all times.

We take our dog to the dog park regularly. You need a pass from the county. They come around occasionally to check for passes. The park is well maintained, they provide bags. A large & separated small dog area. Gravel walk around path, picnic tables (I don't recommend bringing food!!), benches. There is a water pump outside the area. We bring water & bowl and share. There is a Forest outside the dog park. Free parking. The lot is small, however people come & go regularly so be patient and someone will leave.
