Welcome to Maywood Dog Park
For dog owners in Illinois, especially those living in the western suburb of Maywood, finding a dedicated and well-maintained space for their canine companions to run freely and socialize is a true blessing. That's where **Maywood Dog Park** comes into play. Situated conveniently within the community, this park offers a vital haven for pups of all sizes to enjoy off-leash exercise and interaction. It’s a place designed with the needs of both dogs and their owners in mind, providing a secure environment for play, training, and community building. Maywood Dog Park is a key local amenity, enabling furry friends to burn off energy and make new pals, contributing to a happier and healthier lifestyle for pets and their parents in the 60153 area.
---**Maywood Dog Park** is located at **1305 S 9th Ave, Maywood, IL 60153, USA**. This central Maywood address makes it highly accessible for residents throughout the village and neighboring communities. Its placement ensures that a short drive or even a walk can get you and your canine companion to the park with ease. One of the convenient aspects highlighted by visitors is the availability of parking: there is a row of parking located right in front of the park, which simplifies arrival and departure, especially when juggling leashes and excited dogs. The straightforward access means that integrating regular visits to Maywood Dog Park into your routine is practical, providing your dog with consistent opportunities for exercise and socialization.
---**Maywood Dog Park** is designed to facilitate safe and enjoyable off-leash play, offering practical services and amenities to support a positive experience for both dogs and their human companions:
- **Divided Off-Leash Areas:** The park is thoughtfully designed with two distinct sides: a larger area specifically for big dogs, offering ample space for expansive play, and a separate, smaller area for small dogs, providing a safer and less intimidating environment for them to play.
- **Fenced Enclosures:** Both sections of the park are securely fenced, ensuring that dogs can roam freely off-leash within a contained environment, providing peace of mind for owners.
- **Waste Bag Dispensers & Receptacles:** While reviews mention some need for supply stocking, the presence of these facilities is intended to promote cleanliness and responsible pet waste disposal, which is crucial for public health and park enjoyment.
- **Space for Off-Leash Training:** The open and secure nature of the park makes it an ideal spot for practicing off-leash obedience and recall commands in a real-world, yet controlled, setting.
**Maywood Dog Park** offers several key features that make it a valuable resource for local dog owners:
- **Separate Play Zones:** The distinct areas for large and small dogs are a significant highlight, catering to the varying play styles and safety needs of different breeds and sizes. This helps prevent accidental injuries and ensures a more comfortable experience for all.
- **Convenient On-Site Parking:** The presence of a dedicated parking row directly in front of the park is a major convenience, eliminating the stress of searching for street parking and making visits hassle-free.
- **Well-Maintained Grounds (Generally):** Reviewers have noted the park is generally "really well maintained," indicating that the grounds are kept clean and functional for dog use.
- **Opportunity for Recall Practice:** The secure fencing and open space provide an excellent environment for owners to work on their dog's recall and other off-leash training commands, essential for responsible dog ownership.
- **Community Building Potential:** Like many local dog parks, Maywood Dog Park offers a setting for dog owners to meet, share tips, and build connections within their community.
As a public dog park, likely managed by the Village of Maywood or a local park district, **Maywood Dog Park** operates on a system designed for public access rather than commercial promotions. The primary "offer" is the provision of a dedicated off-leash space for the community's dogs.
**Permit System (Recent Change):** Recent reviews indicate that the park has implemented a code-based entry system, suggesting a transition to a permit-required model. While specific details on the permit process (fees, residency requirements, necessary documentation like vaccinations) are not immediately available from the provided text, a permit system is common for well-managed public dog parks. This ensures that users are registered, and often, that their dogs meet health and vaccination standards, contributing to a safer environment for all. A previous ordinance for a Maywood dog park (from a different Maywood location, possibly a historical reference or another town with the same name, but indicating a typical structure) listed annual fees as $3 for residents and $7 for non-residents, along with requirements for current shots, spaying/neutering, and licensing. It is highly probable that the current system for Maywood, IL, operates on a similar, albeit updated, basis.
**Crucial Action for Users:** Given the reported change to a coded gate, it is **essential** for prospective and returning users to contact the relevant Maywood municipal department (likely the Village of Maywood or a Parks & Recreation department if one exists) to inquire about how to obtain the necessary access code or permit. Without this information, access to the park will be restricted, as noted by a frustrated reviewer. Any "special offers" would likely be the annual fee for a permit, which provides year-round access to this valuable community resource.
---For the most accurate and up-to-date information regarding **Maywood Dog Park**, particularly concerning the new access code system, permits, rules, and operational hours, you should contact the relevant municipal authority in Maywood, Illinois. While a specific phone number for the dog park itself isn't provided, it would fall under the Village of Maywood's services.
**Address:** 1305 S 9th Ave, Maywood, IL 60153, USA
**General Village of Maywood Contact:** To inquire about the dog park, including how to obtain the access code/permit, it is best to contact the Village of Maywood's main administrative offices or their public works/parks department (if applicable). While a direct phone number for the dog park wasn't explicitly provided in the initial data, general inquiries to the Village of Maywood might be directed to their main line, which is commonly found on the official Village of Maywood website. Unfortunately, specific contact numbers for the Maywood, IL village hall or parks department are not directly available in the provided snippets, but a quick search on the official Village of Maywood, IL website (e.g., maywood-il.org) would be the best first step. Look for departments like "Parks & Recreation," "Public Works," or "Village Hall/Administration."
It is highly recommended to proactively seek this information before your visit to ensure smooth entry and compliance with any new regulations.
---For dog owners residing in Illinois, particularly those in the village of Maywood, **Maywood Dog Park** stands as a highly suitable and essential local amenity. Its very existence provides a dedicated and safe outdoor space, which is invaluable for dogs living in a suburban environment where private yard space might be limited. The thoughtful division into separate large and small dog areas is a significant advantage, promoting safer and more comfortable interactions for all canine visitors, regardless of their size or temperament.
The convenience of on-site parking further enhances its appeal, making it an easy destination for daily visits and consistent exercise. For owners looking to refine their dog's behavior, the secure environment offers an excellent opportunity to practice off-leash training and recall, skills that are crucial for responsible pet ownership. While the recent implementation of an access code system requires users to obtain a permit, this mechanism, common in well-managed dog parks, often ensures that the park is used by responsible owners whose dogs meet health and vaccination standards, ultimately contributing to a safer and more enjoyable experience for the entire community.
In essence, **Maywood Dog Park** is more than just a place for dogs to run; it’s a vital part of the local fabric. It supports the physical and mental well-being of Maywood’s canine population and fosters a sense of community among pet parents. Despite the minor inconvenience of an unannounced code change, which will undoubtedly be resolved with proper communication from the local authorities, the park's fundamental offerings make it an indispensable resource. For Illinois locals seeking a dedicated, secure, and thoughtfully designed space for their beloved dogs, **Maywood Dog Park** is a suitable and promising addition to their daily lives.

Dec 07, 2024 · Addy LoveI was taking my mini poodle twice a week. Now they have codes on the gate. Haven’t seen any dogs in there for 2 months. And no information given to why it is locked posted anywhere.
Jun 06, 2025 · R CI will changing my rating to 5 stars when Maywood reinforce the bottom of the gate that's divides the small dog park from the big dog park. My dog was able to get under it. Reinforcement wire might have been there because it's everywhere else in the park and someone took it maybe. Other than that no complaints. Glad Maywood finally got a dog park.
