This dog park is fantastic! The trail is great—well-maintained and perfect for walking with your dog. There are plenty of spots to stop and let them explore. I’m always a bit cautious about dog parks because of the horror stories you hear, but everyone here seems to take great care of their dogs, and the play is always friendly and well-managed. If you don't mind paying for the park... I highly recommend.

Welcome to Mary Warner Mack Dog Park (private)

For discerning dog owners across South Carolina, finding a safe, expansive, and well-managed environment where their furry friends can truly thrive is paramount. The Mary Warner Mack Dog Park, located within the beautiful Anne Springs Close Greenway in Fort Mill, SC, stands out as a premier destination. This isn't a casual, open-to-all public park; it's a membership-based, meticulously maintained facility designed to offer an exceptional experience for dogs and their responsible owners.

The Mary Warner Mack Dog Park provides a fantastic opportunity for dogs to run, explore, and socialize in a secure and natural setting. Spanning over 12 acres of enclosed natural space, it offers more than just open fields. Here, dogs can navigate well-maintained trails, explore wooded areas, and even enjoy lakefront access for swimming. It’s an impressive setup that caters to a dog's natural instincts, encouraging vigorous exercise and stimulating exploration.

What truly sets this park apart, as consistently noted by its members, is the strong emphasis on safety, responsible dog ownership, and the overall quality of the experience. While membership is required and veterinary records are a prerequisite, these measures contribute to a community where dogs typically engage in "friendly and well-managed" play. For South Carolina dog owners who prioritize a secure and high-quality environment for their pets, the investment in a Mary Warner Mack Dog Park membership is often considered "worth it."

Location and Accessibility

The Mary Warner Mack Dog Park is conveniently located at 148 Adventure Road, Fort Mill, SC 29715, USA. This address places it within the vast Anne Springs Close Greenway, a well-known natural preserve that offers a multitude of outdoor activities. Its location in Fort Mill makes it easily accessible for residents of surrounding South Carolina communities such as Rock Hill, Tega Cay, and even parts of the greater Charlotte metropolitan area in North Carolina.

Access to the dog park requires an Anne Springs Close Greenway membership, with the dog park membership being an additional add-on. Members gain access through the Adventure Road Entrance, which is designed for convenient entry. While the overall Greenway operates with varying hours for its different entrances, the dog park itself generally opens daily from 7:00 AM until sunset, providing ample opportunity for morning, afternoon, or evening visits.

It's important to note that access to the trails within the dog park may be temporarily closed "after a little bit of rain or snow" to protect the natural surfaces from damage and prevent excessive muddiness. Users are advised to check the Greenway's website or contact them directly for the most current trail conditions before visiting, ensuring a smooth experience.

Services Offered

Mary Warner Mack Dog Park, as a premium membership facility, offers a range of dedicated services and amenities focused on creating a secure, comfortable, and engaging environment for dogs and their owners:

  • Over 12 Acres of Enclosed Off-Leash Space: The primary service is providing a vast, fully fenced natural area where dogs can run, play, and explore off-leash with minimal restriction, fostering their physical and mental well-being.

  • Designated Small Dog Area: The park includes a specific fenced area for small dogs (under 30 lbs.), ensuring safer and more comfortable play interactions for smaller or more timid breeds.

  • Mile-Long Off-Leash Trail: A unique highlight, a mile-long off-leash trail leads dogs through mature hardwood forests and young longleaf pine stands, providing varied terrain and stimulating scents for an enriched hiking experience.

  • Lakefront Access for Dogs: The trail leads to lakefront access, allowing water-loving dogs to swim and cool off, a feature not commonly found in many dog parks.

  • Dog Washing Station: A convenient dog washing station is available, enabling owners to rinse off their muddy or wet pups before leaving, helping to keep vehicles and homes clean.

  • Hydration Stations: The park provides hydration stations, ensuring dogs have access to fresh water throughout their visit.

  • Dog Waste Collection Stations: Readily available waste collection stations with bags are provided, promoting cleanliness and responsible pet ownership within the park.

  • Benches and Seating: Numerous benches and seating areas are strategically placed throughout the park, allowing owners to relax and supervise their pets comfortably.

Features / Highlights

Mary Warner Mack Dog Park stands out due to its unique features and high standards:

  • Expansive Natural Setting: With over 12 acres of "enclosed natural space," including mature hardwood forests and pine stands, the park offers a much more immersive and stimulating experience than typical open field dog parks.

  • Dedicated Off-Leash Hiking Trail: The mile-long off-leash trail is a significant highlight, providing a rare opportunity for dogs to "go for the hiking trails" and explore varied terrain in a secure environment.

  • Lake Access for Swimming: The ability for dogs to access the lake and swim freely is a major draw, especially during South Carolina's warmer months, offering a unique and refreshing activity.

  • Membership-Based Security and Quality: The membership requirement, including submission of vet records (proof of current rabies, Bordetella, DHPP/Parvo vaccinations, and spay/neuter status), contributes to a highly managed and safer environment. This "strict vaccination policy" and vetting of members often leads to "friendly and well-managed" play among dogs.

  • Community of Responsible Owners: Reviews frequently praise the park's atmosphere, noting that "everyone here seems to take great care of their dogs," fostering a community of vigilant and courteous pet parents.

  • Dog Wash Station: The convenience of an onsite dog wash station is a practical and highly appreciated feature, especially after muddy trail adventures or swims.

  • Quiet Mornings for Trail Users: For those who prefer a less busy environment, the park is "not busy" when visiting "around 6:45-7am," making it ideal for peaceful trail walks before work.

Promotions or Special Offers

Mary Warner Mack Dog Park operates on a membership model, which itself can be seen as a "special offer" compared to daily fees, rewarding consistent use and commitment to the park's standards. All dog park members must first be members of the Anne Springs Close Greenway.

  • Greenway Membership Required: An individual Greenway membership costs $75 annually, or a family membership is $135 annually. Daily admission to the Greenway for non-members is $14 per adult and $7 for children ages 5-12.

  • Dog Park Add-on Fee: Once a Greenway member, the dog park membership is an additional $13 per month (added to monthly Greenway membership bank drafts) or $144 annually. This effectively makes the dog park a premium add-on to the overall Greenway experience.

While the reviews mention a monthly cost of "$25 spent a month," this likely reflects the combined cost of a monthly Greenway membership and the dog park add-on, or an older pricing structure. The most current information from the Anne Springs Close Greenway's official website indicates the $13/month or $144/year for the dog park add-on. These structured membership options cater to different usage levels, providing value for frequent visitors. Those interested should visit the Member and Guest Services Desk at the Greenway Headquarters during specified hours (Monday-Saturday: 8:30 am–5:30 pm, Sunday: 1–5:30 pm) to inquire about membership and registration, which requires proof of vaccinations and spay/neuter status.

Conclusion: Why this place is suitable for locals

The Mary Warner Mack Dog Park is an exceptionally suitable and highly recommended destination for discerning dog owners in Fort Mill and across the wider South Carolina region. Its membership-based model, far from being a deterrent, is a key factor in its appeal, ensuring a community of responsible owners and a consistently well-maintained, safe environment. The strict requirements for vet records and spay/neuter status, combined with attentive supervision by members, contribute to the "friendly and well-managed" play that minimizes the "horror stories" sometimes associated with dog parks.

The sheer scale of the park, offering over 12 acres of natural, enclosed space, including a mile-long off-leash trail and lake access, provides unparalleled opportunities for canine exercise and enrichment. This goes far beyond what most public dog parks can offer, making it ideal for high-energy dogs or those who thrive on exploration. While the "only complaint" mentioned by some is the occasional closure of hiking trails after rain or snow, this is a minor inconvenience compared to the consistent quality and unique features available when open.

For South Carolina locals who are willing to invest in a premium, secure, and natural setting for their dogs, and who appreciate a community that prioritizes safety and responsible ownership, the Mary Warner Mack Dog Park offers an experience that is truly "fantastic" and "worth it." It's not just a place for dogs to run; it's a dedicated haven for canine well-being within one of South Carolina's cherished natural preserves.

You have to be a member to use and they need your vet records for your dogs but it’s worth it. Best $25 spent a month. Love this place. We go every morning to tire out the pup before work. We pull in around 6:45-7am and it not busy. We go for the hiking trails. If looking to have dog socialization I’d go later in the day. Only complaint is that after a little bit of rain or snow the dog hiking trails are closed for a few days. Sometimes the website will say it’s open and they will be locked or sometimes they will be unlocked, but the website says they’re closed.

Pros: - Access to the entire greenway with membership (since you have to add the dog park to a greenway membership), which is access to their events at member cost - Water access within the park for the dogs - Separate area for dogs under 30lbs - Off leash trails (which are separated from the main park, so don’t worry your dog won’t be swimming without your permission) - Friendly people and pups! We love the friends we’ve made here! 🥰 - Dogs in park SHOULD have all of their vaccinations and the greenway has a right to revoke membership if a dog has been reported as violent, etc (not sure if this has actually happened tbh). Cons: - No human bathrooms close by, you have to walk or drive from the dog park down a ways. Only inconvenient if you’re having a gotta run situation though. Tips— - Get on the waitlist, it didn’t take long for me to get a membership. You can do annual or 3-month commitment monthly. - Trails can get muddy even after they’re reopened, so be prepared shoe wise. - Similar note for your pup! It isn’t too bad, but prepare to clean your pup. Bring a towel and shampoo if you want. There is a hose outside the park to wash your pup.

This dog park is well worth the fee! There’s a nice typical grassy dog park area, which is big, and good by itself - the big bonus is the huge wooded portion, with trails. This is separated from the grassy area by a fence. It’s so great to let Abby run free, knowing the area is contained. In addition to that, there are openings in the fence that allow the dogs to get to the lake & swim freely! We can spend hours here, and Abby’s thoroughly tired out after. Even when there are lots of dogs here, the *12 acres* of space mean it doesn’t feel crowded. There was a waitlist to join; I submitted our application & waited about 2 months. We prioritize our membership here; the money goes to a wonderful organization, actively bettering their corner of the world.

Membership only dog park. We love it here! We always meet wonderful and responsible dog owners and friendly canines here. The reason we joined this particular park, was the off-leash hiking trail that leads along the little lake, ravines and the plentiful forested area. Worth every penny! Plus you get to hose off your dog before getting back to your car.
