Welcome to Marvin & Marie Schweers Dog Park
For dog owners across Wisconsin, finding a dedicated space where their furry companions can run free, socialize, and truly be themselves is a top priority. In the heart of DeForest, you’ll find just such a place: the Marvin & Marie Schweers Dog Park. This well-maintained and welcoming park offers a fantastic environment for dogs of all sizes and their human companions to enjoy the outdoors. It's more than just a fenced-in area; it's a community hub where tails wag, friendships form, and energy is happily expended.
The Marvin & Marie Schweers Dog Park stands out as a prime destination for pet owners in the greater DeForest area. Designed with both canine and human needs in mind, it provides a safe and stimulating environment that encourages healthy activity and positive interactions. Whether your dog is a social butterfly or needs a little space to explore, this park offers the amenities and atmosphere to make every visit a pleasant one. Locals consistently praise its upkeep and the thoughtful additions that enhance the dog park experience, making it a true asset to the Wisconsin pet community.
The Marvin & Marie Schweers Dog Park is conveniently located at 700 Stevenson St, DeForest, WI 53532, USA. This central location in DeForest makes it easily accessible for residents within the village and those in surrounding communities across Wisconsin. Its placement allows for straightforward navigation, whether you're coming from nearby neighborhoods or planning a special trip.
For those driving, ample free parking is available nearby, ensuring a hassle-free arrival. It's worth noting, however, that some users have mentioned that Google directions might not always lead directly to the parking area, so keeping an eye out as you approach the address is a good idea. The park features double-gated entrances, a crucial safety measure that prevents dogs from accidentally slipping out while others are entering or exiting. While the park is well-maintained, users should be aware that it currently does not have a water fountain for dogs, so bringing your own water is highly recommended, especially on warmer days. Similarly, while accessible for most, the park may not be fully wheelchair accessible in all areas.
The Marvin & Marie Schweers Dog Park focuses on providing a core set of services and facilities designed to enhance the dog park experience for all visitors. While it doesn't offer commercial services like grooming or training on-site, it provides essential amenities that contribute to a safe and enjoyable outing for you and your dog.
-
Off-Leash Recreation Space: The primary service is a spacious, fully fenced area where dogs can run, play, and socialize off-leash. This freedom is invaluable for dogs to get the exercise they need. The park features large off-leash areas, including approximately 5 acres with a .75 acre section specifically for timid or smaller dogs. This separation helps ensure a comfortable and safe experience for all canines, regardless of their size or play style.
-
Waste Stations: To maintain cleanliness and hygiene, the park provides conveniently located waste bags and disposal bins. This encourages responsible pet ownership and helps keep the grounds tidy for everyone.
-
Designated Parking: A dedicated dog park parking lot makes visiting easy and convenient.
-
Access and Fees: For DeForest residents, an annual dog park tag is typically included with their annual dog license, making access seamless. Non-residents have the option of purchasing a daily park pass for $3.00 or an annual park pass for $20.00. For non-residents bringing additional dogs from the same household, there's a charge of $5.00 per extra dog. This fee structure helps support the park's maintenance and ensures its continued quality for all users.
What truly sets Marvin & Marie Schweers Dog Park apart are its thoughtful features and highlights, designed to enhance both canine and human enjoyment. These elements contribute to the park's reputation as a top-notch dog park in Wisconsin.
-
Separate Large and Small Dog Areas: One of the most praised features is the provision of distinct fenced-in areas for large and small dogs. This separation is crucial for ensuring the safety and comfort of all dogs, allowing smaller or more timid pups to play without being overwhelmed, while larger dogs have ample space to romp.
-
Agility Structures: To keep your furry friend mentally and physically stimulated, the park has recently added dog agility structures. These obstacles provide an excellent opportunity for dogs to practice their skills, burn off energy, and engage in fun, challenging activities with their owners.
-
Shelter with Picnic Table: For the comfort of human visitors, a new shelter with a picnic table has been installed. This provides a shaded area to relax, supervise your dog, and even enjoy a snack or connect with other dog owners, regardless of the weather. Previous reviews mentioned only a small shade structure and trees, so this is a welcome improvement.
-
Well-Maintained Grounds: Visitors consistently highlight the "excellent grounds" and how "nicely maintained" the dog park is. The dedication to keeping the park clean and orderly ensures a pleasant experience for everyone. Although some users have noted that certain areas of the park might flood and a ramp can be a bit slick, the overall positive feedback on maintenance remains strong.
-
Community Focus: Named after Marvin and Marie Schweers, a local couple passionate about creating a safe space for dogs, the park embodies a strong community spirit. Their vision has created a place that fosters healthy activity and socialization, truly enhancing the vibrant culture of DeForest for pet owners.
The Marvin & Marie Schweers Dog Park offers a clear and straightforward approach to access, making it accessible to both local residents and visitors. Instead of traditional "promotions" in the commercial sense, the park provides a value-driven access model that benefits its most frequent users.
-
Included Annual Tag for DeForest Residents: A significant benefit for locals is that the annual dog park tag is included with the purchase of their annual dog license. This streamlines the process for DeForest residents and provides cost-effective, year-round access to the park.
-
Affordable Non-Resident Passes: For those visiting from outside DeForest, the park offers highly affordable daily and annual passes. A daily pass costs just $3.00, perfect for occasional visits or trying out the park. For more frequent use, an annual park pass is available for $20.00, offering excellent value. If you have multiple dogs from the same non-resident household, an additional $5.00 is charged per extra dog for the annual pass, still keeping it an economical option for multi-dog families.
-
Replacement Tags: Should a DeForest resident need a replacement dog park tag, they can obtain one for a nominal fee of $3.00, ensuring continuous access without significant expense.
These structured access options ensure that the park remains a sustainable and well-maintained resource for the entire Wisconsin dog-owning community.
For any inquiries, questions about park rules, or information regarding passes, you can easily get in touch with the park's management.

Excellent grounds! Really nicely maintained dog park.
Apr 20, 2025 · Lauren BrandtMy dogs 🐕🦺🐕 give this place 5 out of 5 🐾's! They appreciate the socialization and exercise. New amenities were recently added: shelter with picnic table and dog agility structures.
Apr 30, 2023 · A LWe moved to the area this past, and our little guy needed a place to get out and run around with some friends. This dog park is perfect. A great size space, with a smaller section divided off for timid dogs. We usually enjoy the entire park with maybe another dog or two, but you can also run into a full parking lot and have 10-15 dogs running around. Definitely worth checking out!
May 01, 2023 · clayguyryBest place in town to take your dog for a walk or run
May 16, 2023 · Gene smithGreat space and lots of room to run. Also a nice spot for humans to get a good walk in while their dogs play. There is a nice area for timid dogs. It’s not huge but sufficient. Overall a really nice park!
