As a public park operated by the City of Sun Prairie Parks and Recreation Department, the Sun Prairie Pet Exercise Area does not typically run commercial "promotions" in the retail sense. However, its use is governed by a permit system that offers significant value to local dog owners.
To utilize the Sun Prairie Pet Exercise Area, a valid dog park permit is required, in addition to a current dog license. The annual permit fees (valid from January 1 to December 31) are $43 for the first dog. Discounted rates are available, with permits costing $20 for a second and third dog, $20 for seniors (65+) and disabled individuals, and a new $20 option for military/veterans. Daily permits are also available for $5 per dog per day, which can be purchased on a self-registration basis on site. A major benefit for Wisconsin residents is that this Sun Prairie permit is valid for use in all Dane County dog parks, as well as in designated dog parks in the City of Madison and City of Middleton under the Cooperative Dog Park Program. This broad access makes the annual permit a highly cost-effective choice for those who frequent various dog parks in the greater Dane County area. Permits can be purchased online or in person at the City Clerk's Office in City Hall (300 East Main Street, Sun Prairie). For up-to-date information on permit fees and purchasing procedures, it is always best to consult the official City of Sun Prairie website or contact the Parks and Recreation Department directly.

Oct 12, 2024 · Laura PalmgrenI love bringing my dogs here. It's a beautiful area. I haven't experienced owners not cleaning up after their dogs. My dogs love it. We recently relocated from Arizona. We had our own house and a backyard. We moved into the apartment, not that the apartment is super small or anything. Although it is, they have no yard to run in.So we try to bring them every weekend.
Oct 03, 2024 · Regina GonzalesThere is a fun trail through the woods at the bottom of the hill that not many people seem to know about/go through--it is our dog's favorite place here-they love to go racing through the woods on a narrow trail and eventually come out the other end.
Dec 31, 2024 · David YeazelOur dogs really enjoy going out to the dog park to run around. We walk the trail around the outside of the park while they run around and meet other dogs or follow us. Good spot to let your dogs get some extra exercise. They also have several doggy bag dispensers near the entrance.
Jan 18, 2025 · Haley NeisingerNice little dog park, not much else to say, it's got a track around the outside, pavilion in the middle, some swampy wooded area if you want your dogs covered in mud 😆. There is a little dog section separate from the rest. Also some agility equipment. The pictures are from before I took Dexter to get euthanized. His last off leash moments were here.
