Great place to bring your dog to play with off leash. Not many people and dogs whenever I went. 2 to 6 dogs avg. 3. Very clean. The only downside is there is no grass in the fenced off dog park, it's just dirt.

Welcome to Kimber Dog Park
For dog owners navigating the beautiful and active lifestyle of California, discovering a dedicated and reliable outdoor space where our furry friends can truly be themselves is always a high priority. We're consistently seeking environments where our dogs can run, play, and socialize freely, unencumbered by leashes. In the scenic community of Thousand Oaks, a city celebrated for its natural beauty and family-friendly amenities, lies Kimber Dog Park. This beloved off-leash area offers a clean, secure, and friendly environment that caters specifically to the needs of local pups and their human companions. It’s a place where canine energy finds a healthy outlet, and dog lovers can connect over their shared passion.
The core philosophy behind a well-designed dog park is to provide a controlled, safe setting where dogs can engage in their natural behaviors – from energetic sprints and playful wrestling to crucial sniffing and social interactions with their peers. This freedom is vital not only for a dog's physical health, helping them burn energy and maintain a healthy weight, but also for their mental stimulation and positive social development, ultimately contributing to a more balanced and happier pet. For us, as owners, these parks offer a valuable opportunity to relax, observe our beloved companions thriving, and build connections within a community of fellow dog enthusiasts. Kimber Dog Park embodies these principles, striving to offer a consistently positive experience through its accessible design and community-driven atmosphere, making it a valued asset to the Thousand Oaks area.
Kimber Dog Park is conveniently located at 153 S Wendy Dr, Thousand Oaks, CA 91320, USA. This address places it within easy reach for residents of Thousand Oaks and surrounding communities within Ventura County, such as Newbury Park, Agoura Hills, and Westlake Village. Its location on South Wendy Drive, a local street, makes it identifiable and accessible within the suburban landscape.
Accessibility is a key factor for any local amenity, and Kimber Dog Park benefits from its placement in a residential yet accessible part of Thousand Oaks. While the reviews don't explicitly detail parking, being located on a local street suggests that street parking might be available, or dedicated spots within the park's immediate vicinity. As with any popular local spot, it's always advisable to anticipate that parking might be more competitive during peak hours, particularly in the evenings when most people tend to show up.
For those relying on public transportation, Thousand Oaks is served by the Thousand Oaks Transit (TOT) bus system. While direct routes specifically to the park's entrance might vary, major bus lines likely operate within reasonable walking distance of South Wendy Drive, offering options for access without a personal vehicle. The park’s integration into the local neighborhood also means that many nearby residents can enjoy a pleasant walk with their dogs to and from the park, further enhancing its community appeal and reducing reliance on driving. Its residential setting contributes to its reputation as a "great spot to take our dogs while we were staying in the area."
Kimber Dog Park is designed with a focus on core functionality and user convenience, ensuring a positive experience for both dogs and their owners. Based on user reviews, here’s a look at the services and amenities you can expect:
-
Off-Leash Play Area: The primary service is a securely fenced area where dogs can "run free" and "play with off leash." This dedicated space is fundamental for canine exercise and socialization.
-
Plenty of Space for Running Around: The park is described as a "nice area for dogs to run around," indicating sufficient room for energetic play and movement.
-
Clean Environment: A consistent highlight from visitors is that the park is "Very clean." This speaks to diligent maintenance and responsible use by the community, ensuring a hygienic space.
-
Availability of Toys: User reviews mention "Some toys" are present, suggesting that visitors sometimes leave communal toys, which adds an extra element of fun and convenience if you forget your own.
-
Seating Options: The park provides "chairs, and a couple tables," offering comfortable spots for owners to sit, relax, and supervise their dogs.
-
Waste Management: While specific details like bag dispensers aren't noted, the "Very clean" status implies adequate trash receptacles for proper waste disposal.
Beyond the basic services, Kimber Dog Park offers several key features that contribute to its popularity and overall positive experience for many visitors:
-
Friendly Dogs and People: A significant highlight is the positive social dynamic: "All the people and pups that we encountered were friendly." This fosters a welcoming and enjoyable atmosphere for both canines and their human companions, encouraging positive interactions and reducing stress.
-
Well-Utilized Space: The park is "mostly dirt, but that is only because it is used so often." This indicates its popularity and the frequency with which dogs are enjoying the space, suggesting a vibrant and active dog community.
-
Secure Fenced Area: The park is explicitly described as "fenced off," providing a safe and contained environment for off-leash play, giving owners peace of mind.
-
Consistent Evening Activity: "It seems like most people show up in the evenings." This is a valuable insight for visitors, allowing them to plan their visits based on their preference for a more active social environment or a quieter experience. It also provides a great after-work outlet for many local dog owners.
-
Compact and Manageable Size: While it may not be sprawling, its more contained nature allows for easier supervision of dogs, especially when the number of dogs is lower (e.g., "2 to 6 dogs avg. 3"). This can be ideal for owners of less social dogs or those who prefer a more intimate setting.
-
Local "Hidden Gem" Vibe: Its location "tucked into a condo/apt complex" and its description as a "great spot to take our dogs while we were staying in the area" give it the feel of a cherished local secret, often preferred by those in the know.
As a public amenity, Kimber Dog Park, likely managed by the Conejo Recreation & Park District (CRPD) which serves Thousand Oaks, generally does not offer commercial promotions or retail-style special offers. Its primary "promotion" is the free and accessible space it provides to the local community for dog recreation.
However, public park districts often engage in various community-focused initiatives or events that can be considered beneficial "offers" to residents and their pets:
-
District-Wide Pet Events: The CRPD might periodically host larger pet-themed events, such as pet expos, low-cost vaccination clinics, or pet adoption fairs at various parks within their jurisdiction. Information on these events would typically be found on their official website.
-
Responsible Pet Ownership Workshops: Occasionally, free workshops on topics like dog obedience, park etiquette, or pet health might be offered to promote responsible pet ownership within the community.
-
Volunteer Opportunities: Opportunities for community members to participate in park clean-up drives or beautification projects are often available, allowing residents to contribute to the upkeep of this valuable resource.
To stay informed about any potential events, temporary closures for maintenance, or specific park rules, residents are encouraged to consult the official channels.

While a specific direct phone number for Kimber Dog Park itself is not available, using the CRPD's main line or visiting their official website (crpd.org) is the best approach. Its primary appeal lies in its reliable offering of a clean, secure, and friendly off-leash environment for dogs, which is essential for their physical and mental well-being in a suburban setting. The consistent praise for its cleanliness and the reported friendliness of both dogs and owners create a welcoming atmosphere that encourages regular visits and positive social interactions.
While the park is predominantly dirt rather than grass, this is understood by locals as a consequence of its frequent use, indicating its popularity and how much it is valued by the community. The presence of shared toys and basic seating adds a thoughtful touch of convenience for visitors. Furthermore, the knowledge that "most people show up in the evenings" provides valuable insight for locals to plan their visits based on whether they seek a more bustling social scene or a quieter playtime. For California residents prioritizing a safe and community-oriented space for their dogs to exercise and socialize, Kimber Dog Park offers a straightforward, well-maintained, and genuinely friendly option, making it a true local staple in Thousand Oaks.

Feb 22, 2021 · Susan BeyerI am not sure how to rate this dog but being my first dog park I just it would look different. A little on the older side and for being a park...dirty. EL Camino Real in Ventura looks to be maybe ☆☆☆ and this is just a glance while jogging past.
Sep 23, 2020 · Lucky SIt was ok, needs more shade trees, has plenty of water and dishes and dirt. Roomy for dogs to run, a few balls to play with.
Jan 30, 2019 · Marilyn KolanderNice walking track and huge grassy area. The dog park is tucked away down by the parking lot.
