Look no further than the John Morroni Memorial Dog Park, a beloved local amenity that consistently receives rave reviews from pet parents. This isn't just any dog park; it's a testament to the community's commitment to providing a safe, enjoyable, and convenient outdoor environment for dogs of all sizes and their human companions. Whether your canine pal needs to burn off some energy, socialize with new friends, or simply enjoy the Florida sunshine, this park offers the perfect setting.
The John Morroni Memorial Dog Park is designed with both functionality and comfort in mind. It stands out for its thoughtful separation of play areas, ensuring that smaller, more timid dogs can frolic without feeling overwhelmed by larger, more boisterous breeds. This attention to detail creates a harmonious environment where all dogs can thrive. Locals frequently praise the park's excellent maintenance, highlighting the well-kept grounds and essential amenities. For those who have recently moved to the area, like some satisfied visitors, having such a fantastic dog park "minutes away from home is so convenient," allowing dogs to get their much-needed exercise and fostering a sense of community among local pet owners. It’s a place where you can relax, knowing your dog is having a blast in a secure and welcoming space.
The John Morroni Memorial Dog Park is conveniently situated at 11650 Capri Cir S, Treasure Island, FL 33706, USA. It is located within Rosselli Park, a well-known recreational area in Treasure Island. Its central location makes it highly accessible for residents across Treasure Island and neighboring communities in Pinellas County.
Accessing the park is straightforward, with clear directions to the Rosselli Park complex. There is ample free parking available nearby, which is a significant advantage for visitors. The park boasts a double-gated entrance, adding an extra layer of security to prevent dogs from accidentally slipping out. The John Morroni Memorial Dog Park is open seven days a week, from 7:00 AM until 7:00 PM daily, providing generous hours for both early morning exercise routines and evening playtime. It's important to note that the park may have scheduled maintenance, typically on Tuesdays from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM, when certain areas might be temporarily unavailable for upkeep. Visitors are encouraged to check the city's official website for any specific maintenance schedules or temporary closures to plan their visit accordingly.
The John Morroni Memorial Dog Park is equipped with a range of services and amenities designed to ensure a comfortable and enjoyable experience for both dogs and their owners:
- Separate Fenced Play Areas: The park features two distinct, fully fenced enclosures. One area is specifically designated for small dogs, providing a safe and calm environment for them to play. The other, larger area is for big dogs, offering ample space for them to run, jump, and socialize freely.
- Water Fountains for Dogs and Humans: Staying hydrated is crucial, especially in Florida's warm climate. The park provides water fountains at a convenient height for dogs, ensuring they have access to fresh drinking water. Human drinking fountains are also available.
- Shaded Seating Areas: Recognizing the importance of shade in Florida, the park offers numerous benches and shaded seating areas under an abundance of trees. This allows owners to relax comfortably while supervising their pets.
- Waste Bag Dispensers: To encourage responsible pet ownership and maintain cleanliness, the park provides readily available dog waste bags, making it easy for owners to pick up after their pets.
- Variety of Ground Surfaces: The park incorporates different ground types within its enclosures. The small dog side is primarily grass, offering a soft surface for smaller paws. The large dog side features a mix of approximately 50% grass and 50% mulch, providing varied textures for play and helping with drainage.
- Wheelchair Accessible: The park is designed to be accessible, ensuring that visitors with mobility needs can comfortably enjoy the facilities with their dogs.
What makes the John Morroni Memorial Dog Park a standout choice for Treasure Island dog owners?
- Dedicated Small and Large Dog Sides: This feature is consistently highlighted by users. The clear separation of play zones based on dog size significantly enhances safety and comfort for all dogs, reducing stress for both pets and their owners.
- Well-Maintained Grounds: Reviewers frequently praise the park's cleanliness and upkeep. The fact that "both sides well maintained" speaks volumes about the city's dedication to providing a high-quality facility.
- Abundant Shade: Florida's sun can be intense. The "plenty of shade thanks to an abundance of trees" is a significant advantage, offering relief from the heat for both dogs and their owners, allowing for longer and more comfortable visits.
- Free Entry: Unlike some parks that charge an entrance fee, John Morroni Memorial Dog Park is free to use, making it an accessible and affordable option for daily visits or spontaneous playdates.
- Community Hub: As noted by a local resident, it's a great place for dogs to "meet other dogs in our area," fostering a sense of community among pet owners and providing valuable socialization opportunities for their dogs.
- Convenient Location: Being "minutes away from home" for many Treasure Island residents adds immense value, making regular visits easy and hassle-free.
- Double-Gated Entrance: This extra safety measure provides peace of mind for owners, particularly those with fast or adventurous dogs, ensuring a secure environment.
As a public community amenity, the John Morroni Memorial Dog Park does not typically offer traditional "promotions" or "special offers" in the commercial sense. However, its greatest "special offer" is its free admission. This means you can enjoy all the benefits of a well-maintained, fully fenced, and amenity-rich dog park without any daily cost. This consistent availability of a high-quality, free resource is a significant advantage for local residents and contributes to the park's popularity.
Any community-wide events or special occasions, such as "Barktoberfest" which has been held at Rosselli Park (where the dog park is located), would be advertised by the City of Treasure Island Parks and Recreation Department. These events, while not direct promotions for the park's daily use, offer additional opportunities for dog owners to engage with the local pet community. May 21, 2025 · Crystal DangeloMy husband and I moved out here at the beginning of the year and we absolutely love it! Having a dog park minutes away from home is so convenient! The dogs get their exercise as well as meeting other dogs in our area!!!
May 21, 2020 · Sherry KowaleskiGreat hidden gem! Fenced in playground with turf grass, dog park, tennis courts, and much more. Our little ones always want to come back here.
Jan 15, 2024 · Tony DustmanAwesome little park for kids and dogs! Little kids, big kids, little dogs, and big dogs! Tennis courts can easily be converted to pickleball courts and a nice playground. A couple of notes to add... the dog parks are in a great location of the park. Both the one for large dogs and the ones for little dogs are well shaded, giving pets and their humans a relaxing place to chill and play ball. Baseball field, courts, and playgrounds are always well cared for. Playground is only about 2 years old.
