Only GOD forgives you faster than a SOG! #ReflectDogs Love & Forgiveness When you realize you're in the middle of a desert you also realize that this is an awesome dog park, especially if you compare it to the rancho del Lago dog park. This park has some very very sturdy fencing as well as a very nicely done double-gated entry area the entry area actually has a concrete path so that if you are in a wheelchair you can wheel right in and wheel right over to the very specific handicap seating area!! How awesome is that! This park is well thought out and has everything a dog park needs. As you enter you will notice the concrete path leads all the way out into the park and makes a nice complete walking path circle. They have multiple shaded areas, the one in the back actually has a nice picnic table as well as seating places it looks like a dog walked on the concrete wall when they were building it! More than enough room for your dog to run and you park right next to the dog park. This clearly explains why there were so many people here and there was no one but an old cantankerous man that didn't like other dogs around his at rancho del lago! So if you love your pup bring it here

## Introduction / Overview
For dog owners across Arizona, finding a safe, engaging, and well-maintained space for their beloved canines to play is paramount. Look no further than Ivan's Spot Dog Park, a beloved local destination in Tucson, Arizona. Named in honor of Ivan, a dedicated TPD police dog who tragically lost his life in the line of duty, this one-acre facility stands as a testament to the community's love for its four-legged residents and the heroes who serve. More than just a patch of open land, Ivan's Spot is a thoughtfully designed haven where dogs can run, play, and socialize freely in an off-leash environment.
This park has quickly become a favorite among local dog owners, often praised for its superior design and amenities compared to other dog parks in the region. It offers a dedicated space where dogs can expend energy, interact with other pups, and enjoy the Arizona outdoors, all while providing comfort and convenience for their human companions. Whether you have a high-energy retriever, a playful terrier, or a mellow senior dog, Ivan's Spot caters to all, ensuring a pleasant and secure experience for everyone.
## Location and Accessibility
Ivan's Spot Dog Park is conveniently located within the broader Purple Heart Park, offering easy access for residents throughout the Tucson area. You'll find this fantastic dog park at 9820 Rees Loop, Tucson, AZ 85747, USA. Its placement allows for straightforward arrival, making it a regular stop for many local dog owners. One of the standout features of Ivan's Spot is its commitment to accessibility for all visitors.
The park boasts a very nicely done double-gated entry area, a crucial safety feature for any off-leash dog park, ensuring no accidental escapes as people enter or exit. What truly sets this entry apart is its concrete path, specifically designed to accommodate wheelchairs. This thoughtful detail extends further into the park, as the concrete path creates a complete walking circle, making it easy for individuals with mobility challenges to navigate the area and enjoy their time with their pets. Parking is also readily available right next to the dog park, adding to the overall convenience for visitors.
## Services Offered
Ivan's Spot Dog Park provides a range of services and amenities designed to enhance the experience for both dogs and their owners. While it's primarily an off-leash play area, the park's design incorporates several thoughtful elements to ensure comfort and safety. Here's what you can expect:
- Dedicated Areas for Large and Small Dogs: To ensure safe and appropriate play, Ivan's Spot features two separate, fenced areas: one for larger dogs and another, slightly smaller, for their smaller counterparts. This separation helps prevent accidental rough play and allows dogs to socialize with others of similar size and energy levels.
- Water Fountains: Staying hydrated in the Arizona heat is crucial for both pets and their owners. The park is equipped with dog-friendly drinking fountains, ensuring that fresh water is readily available for thirsty pups after a good run.
- Waste Disposal Stations: Maintaining a clean and hygienic environment is a priority. Ivan's Spot provides multiple trash cans along with readily available poop bags, encouraging responsible pet ownership and making it easy for visitors to clean up after their dogs.
## Features / Highlights
Ivan's Spot Dog Park is packed with features that make it a truly exceptional place for canine recreation in Tucson. These highlights contribute to its reputation as a well-thought-out and highly enjoyable dog park:
- Sturdy Fencing and Double-Gated Entry: Safety is paramount, and the park's very sturdy fencing, combined with a double-gated entry system, provides peace of mind for owners. This design minimizes the risk of dogs slipping out when new visitors arrive or depart.
- Accessible Concrete Walking Path: As mentioned, the concrete path leading from the entry area extends into a complete walking circle within the park. This feature is not only excellent for wheelchair accessibility but also provides a clean, well-defined route for those who prefer not to walk on the decomposed granite surface.
- Ample Shaded Areas: Given Arizona's climate, shade is a critical amenity. Ivan's Spot offers multiple shaded areas, providing much-needed relief from the sun for both dogs and their owners. One of these areas even includes a nice picnic table and additional seating, perfect for a relaxing break.
- Picnic Table and Seating: Beyond basic benches, the park offers a picnic table in one of the shaded areas, allowing owners to comfortably sit, relax, and watch their dogs play. There are also charming "bone benches" scattered throughout the park, adding a unique and playful touch.
- Decomposed Granite Surface: The main play areas are covered with decomposed granite, a popular and durable surface for dog parks that provides good drainage and is relatively easy on paws.
- Solar Lights: The park is equipped with solar lights, extending its usability into the evening hours and enhancing safety for those visiting after sunset.
- Unique Touches: Keep an eye out for fun details, like the concrete wall that looks like a dog walked on it during construction – a playful nod to our furry friends!

Mar 16, 2025 · Young LadyNice little park, it's a bit hidden off the parking lot and the pavement gets hot on the way in, so just be prepared. Had a water fountain, shade and cute bone benches! Also section for large and small dogs, both similar in what was in the area, small dog area just a bit smaller. My dog's had a nice visit on our way through town. Will visit again.
Aug 24, 2019 · Dawn AnkromIt's located on the east side of the Purple Heart Park. The dog park is all sand,no grass. The small dog area is small. Water is available. If you're in the area, it's fine. Don't go out of your way to come, though.
