Only GOD forgives you faster than a DOG! #ReflectDogs love & Forgiveness This is the nicest dog park I have been to in this area so far. It actually has grass which seems to be lacking in most? Make a nice shaded seating structure in both the big and small dog park. The fencing is very secure and there is a double-gated entry area separate for the big and small dog parks. They also have water and it appears misters for the dogs. The parking lot is right next to the dog park and there is plenty of room to walk around the interior of the fence line

Location and Accessibility

Wagging Tails Dog Park is conveniently located at 8330 E Escalante Rd, Tucson, AZ 85730, USA, as an integral part of the expansive Lincoln Regional Park. This address places it squarely on the east side of Tucson, making it exceptionally accessible for residents in surrounding neighborhoods like Rita Ranch, Civano, and other eastern communities, as well as those traveling from other parts of the city via major roadways such as Houghton Road and Kolb Road.

Being situated within a regional park means the dog park benefits from substantial infrastructure. Visitors will find a dedicated parking lot right next to the dog park itself, ensuring plenty of room and easy access from your vehicle to the play area. This immediate proximity is a significant convenience, especially when dealing with excited dogs. Lincoln Regional Park is a large, multi-use recreational area, offering additional amenities like walking paths, sports fields, and even a swimming pool. This allows for a comprehensive outing where you can combine your dog's playtime with other outdoor activities, making Wagging Tails Dog Park a versatile and highly accessible destination for all Tucson dog owners.

Services Offered

Wagging Tails Dog Park provides a comprehensive suite of services and amenities, designed to offer a superior off-leash experience for dogs and their owners. As a state-of-the-art facility, its offerings go beyond the basics:

  • Three Separate Areas for Turf Maintenance and Use: Uniquely, the park includes three separate, fully fenced areas. This innovative design allows the City of Tucson Parks and Recreation to rotate the use of the turf fields, giving the grass time to recover and stay healthy, which is a significant advantage in Arizona's climate. One of these areas is specifically for small dogs, ensuring a safe play environment for all sizes.

  • Actual Grass Surfaces: A standout feature highlighted by many visitors is the presence of real grass, a rarity in Tucson dog parks. This soft and natural surface is preferred by many dogs and owners alike.

  • Water Misters: Essential for comfort during Tucson's hot months, the park is equipped with water misters. These help to cool down the environment, making it more enjoyable and safer for dogs to play even when temperatures rise.

  • Shade Structures and Benches: Ample shade is provided by purpose-built structures (ramadas) with benches. These areas offer a comfortable respite from the sun for human companions to relax and observe their pets.

  • Secure, Double-Gated Entry: The park features a very secure, double-gated entry system for both the large and small dog sides. This airlock design is crucial for preventing accidental escapes as dogs and people enter and exit.

  • Dog Agility Equipment: For active dogs who enjoy a challenge, the park includes various agility equipment, providing mental and physical stimulation beyond just running.

  • Dog Playground Elements: Beyond agility, there are general "dog playground" elements designed to engage dogs in playful activities.

  • Dog Drinking Fountains: Easily accessible dog-friendly water fountains ensure that pets stay hydrated throughout their visit.

  • Pet Waste Stations: Strategically placed pet waste stations with disposal bags are provided, encouraging all users to maintain a clean and sanitary environment.

Features / Highlights

Wagging Tails Dog Park distinguishes itself with several key highlights that firmly establish it as one of Tucson's premier dog park destinations:

  • Real Grass Surfaces: This is arguably the most celebrated feature. In an area where many dog parks have dirt, gravel, or decomposed granite surfaces, the lush green grass at Wagging Tails provides a much softer, cooler, and more enjoyable play surface for dogs and a more aesthetically pleasing environment for owners. The system of rotating three fields for turf maintenance ensures the grass stays as healthy as possible.

  • Water Misters: A true blessing in the Arizona heat, the installed water misters help keep the ambient temperature down, making the park usable and comfortable even during warmer parts of the day. This thoughtful amenity prioritizes the dogs' well-being.

  • Superior Shade Provision: Unlike some parks with minimal or developing shade, Wagging Tails offers significant, well-placed shaded seating structures in both the large and small dog areas. This allows owners to relax comfortably while supervising their pets.

  • State-of-the-Art Design: The park is described as a "state-of-the-art facility," reflecting a modern approach to dog park design that incorporates advanced amenities like agility equipment and a "dog playground" beyond just an open field.

  • Secure and Thoughtful Layout: The secure, high fencing, combined with the double-gated entry for each separate dog area, demonstrates a strong commitment to safety, preventing escapes and ensuring controlled access.

  • Ample Parking: The convenient parking lot directly adjacent to the dog park makes for easy and quick access, a practical benefit for all visitors.

These features collectively make Wagging Tails Dog Park a top-tier choice for dog owners seeking a high-quality, comfortable, and engaging off-leash experience in Tucson.

Promotions or Special Offers

As a public dog park managed by the City of Tucson Parks and Recreation Department, Wagging Tails Dog Park does not engage in commercial "promotions" or "special offers" in the traditional sense, such as discounts, coupons, or paid memberships. The park is free for all members of the public to use, making it an incredibly valuable and accessible community resource.

However, the City of Tucson Parks and Recreation Department frequently organizes or supports various community events that may be of interest to pet owners. These can include pet adoption days, responsible pet ownership workshops, or other family-friendly activities held within city parks. While these events may not always take place directly at Wagging Tails Dog Park, they represent opportunities for local residents to engage with the broader pet community and city-sponsored initiatives.

Furthermore, as part of Lincoln Regional Park, the dog park benefits from overall park improvements funded by initiatives like Proposition 407, which voters approved to invest in Tucson's parks and natural spaces. These investments, while not "promotions," lead to enhanced amenities and a better experience for all users. Beautiful dog park with actual grass, shade and even misters. The small dog side is much nicer with big trees, and the large dog side is circulated between two fields daily to try to keep the grass alive.

So much open space with grass!! Our dogs absolutely loved it. We enjoyed the drinking fountains for fresh water, misting stations, benches, picnic tables and the play equipment was a nice touch for our dog who likes to climb around on things/ practice agility. I appreciated the shaded benches. The only things that were a little disappointing were the distance of the bathrooms. I didn’t realize they had bathrooms until we left. It seems like there were previous people who did not pick up after their dog’s waste. And near the watering bowl there was a mud hole filled with water and our dogs enjoyed that but we didn’t haha

Pug approved park! Lots of room to chase your tail or other dogs. Sophie loved the dog mister and her buddy Louey loved the club house.
