Welcome to Hurst Dog Park

For dog owners across the vibrant North Texas region, particularly those in the city of Hurst, finding a comfortable, engaging, and well-maintained spot for their canine companions to enjoy off-leash freedom is a true gem. Hurst Dog Park stands out as a consistently praised destination, celebrated by local users for its excellent amenities, inviting atmosphere, and perhaps most notably, its abundant natural shade. This thoughtfully designed park provides a secure and stimulating environment where dogs can run, play, and socialize, making it a beloved fixture in the Hurst community.

Hurst Dog Park goes beyond the basics, offering a variety of features that enhance the experience for both pups and their human companions. From its dedicated play areas to its unique "play equipment" and natural elements like boulders, the park encourages active and joyful engagement. While like any outdoor space, it faces occasional maintenance challenges (such as the reported "oil from coming up out of the ground"), the overall consensus from visitors is one of appreciation for its fine details and the consistent effort put into its design and upkeep. For Texas dog owners seeking a large, shady, and amenity-rich environment for their furry friends, Hurst Dog Park is undoubtedly a top choice.

Location and Accessibility

Conveniently located in Hurst, Texas, Hurst Dog Park is easily accessible for residents throughout the city and the wider Tarrant County area. You'll find this well-regarded facility at:

900 TCC Rd, Hurst, TX 76054, USA

The park's location, described by users as being "next to TCC" (Tarrant County College) and "hidden behind a city building," makes the Hurst water tower a helpful landmark for first-time visitors. There is plenty of parking available, ensuring a hassle-free arrival. Hurst Dog Park offers extensive operating hours, generally open daily from 7:00 AM to 9:00 PM. However, it's essential for local users to be aware of the specific maintenance schedule: the park is regularly closed on Wednesdays from 7:00 AM to 12:00 PM for routine upkeep, though some sources state a full closure until 9:00 PM for Wednesday maintenance. Additionally, as a natural grass park, it's advisable to avoid visiting immediately after heavy rains, as some areas can become muddy. The park does feature concrete pathways and a turf area, which might offer drier alternatives. It’s always a good idea to check for any official city updates regarding park closures or conditions, especially during inclement weather.

Services Offered

Hurst Dog Park is equipped with a comprehensive range of services and amenities designed to make your visit comfortable and convenient for both you and your dog:

  • Three Fenced-In Runs: The park features three distinct, completely fenced-in runs to accommodate dogs of different sizes and play styles. There's a dedicated run for small dogs, one for large dogs, and a third area designated for dogs of all sizes. This thoughtful segregation helps ensure a safer and more comfortable play experience for all canine visitors.

  • Water Stations with Dog Bowls & Bottle Fillers: Each run is equipped with a water station, providing fresh drinking water for dogs via attached bowls. Additionally, these stations often include bottle fillers for human companions, ensuring everyone stays hydrated.

  • Dog Wash Hoses: A highly valued amenity, especially after muddy play, the park provides dog wash hoses. These allow owners to rinse off their pups before heading home, keeping vehicles cleaner.

  • Pet Waste Stations: Strategically located throughout each run, "nice poop stations" are readily available and typically well-stocked with bags, encouraging and facilitating responsible pet waste disposal by owners.

  • Benches and Seating: Plenty of benches and natural boulders provide comfortable seating options for owners to relax and supervise their dogs, particularly in the shaded areas.

  • Cement Pathways and Turf Area: The inclusion of cement pathways and a turf area offers alternative surfaces for walking and playing, providing relief from potential dirt or mud, especially after rain.

As a public municipal park operated by the City of Hurst, Hurst Dog Park does not typically offer commercial promotions or sales. However, the City of Hurst Parks & Recreation Department is very active in hosting community-focused, pet-friendly events that provide excellent opportunities for local Texas residents to engage with their community and enjoy special activities with their furry companions:

These events often include streaming sports games (like Rangers vs. Red Sox), local food vendors, yard games for humans and pups, and opportunities to enjoy refreshing drinks from local breweries. These events are typically free to enter, though food and beverages are available for purchase.

  • "Doggone Egg Hunt": This annual spring event offers "egg-citing fun for every pup," featuring egg hunts for both large and small dogs, crafts for owners and pups, "pup cups" (dog-friendly treats), obstacle courses, giveaways, and even photo opportunities with Mr. Bunny. This is also typically a free-entry event, making it a fantastic family and pet outing.

  • Community Pet Awareness Campaigns: The City of Hurst Parks & Recreation actively communicates with park users about responsible pet ownership, such as reminders about picking up waste and preventing digging (which can create safety hazards). While not a "promotion," these efforts contribute to a better park experience for everyone.

Thanks Google for letting me know of this place, it’s not close to me but I’m willing to make the drive. It’s next to TCC and hidden behind a city building. My landmark is the Hurst water tower lol. It is big and my large doodle loves to get her zoomies out! Lots of trees, play equipment, boulders to sit on, benches, nice poop stations, even cement pathways, turf area, it has it all! Plenty of parking. Grass is well maintained. Only downside for me is all the dirt up front, I would avoid if it rains but they do have a wash stations. Thank you Hurst for all the fine details that went into the design!

First time here with my dog. It was a lovely, nice size park with decent amount of shades, some branches, and dog tunnels. It will be better if it could have another water fountain at the other side of the park. I will go more often if it’s closer to my house!

I’ve always had bad experiences with dog parks but I decided to take my dog to this dog park and this was the first time she ever went to one. I wasn’t sure how my dog was gonna behave but she did very well! Every dog was friendly for the most part and she seemed not so scared. Will definitely be coming back to this park

It's cute, not as big as I would have thought hurst would have done. There is more walking area than grass area in the small side at least. People were nice dogs played well, no issues. The owners were paying attention to their dogs' behaviors, which is always a plus! People need to pick up after their pets more, though. Other than that, we had a good time. Will visit again
