Small park, peastone and astroturf Decent for a city park. Looks like there would be water during non freezing seasons. Agility equipment in place, separate small dog section. Bags and trash present. ...but no parking. Street parking for meters, taken on weekends. Overall, a good park for residents, but not so much for visitors.

The park is fully fenced, providing a secure environment that gives pet parents peace of mind while their dogs explore and play freely. This enclosed setting is essential for safety, especially in a bustling urban neighborhood like Harbor Point.

Beyond simply being a place for dogs to run, Harbor Point Dog Park is a hub of canine activity and community. Its compact yet efficient design includes features that encourage both physical exertion and mental stimulation. Location and Accessibility

Harbor Point Dog Park is ideally situated at 804 Atlantic St, Stamford, CT 06902, USA, placing it firmly within the dynamic and redeveloped Harbor Point neighborhood of Stamford. This location is a key aspect of its suitability for local residents, as it's often within walking distance for many who live in the surrounding apartments and condominiums.

While the park itself is a fantastic amenity, visitors should be aware of the parking situation. As a city park, "no parking" is directly allocated to the dog park. Instead, parking typically involves "street parking for meters," which can be "taken on weekends." This means that while convenient for local residents, visitors driving in may need to search for available metered street parking or utilize nearby public garages within the Harbor Point area. Some sources for the broader Harbor Point area mention "garage parking available on Pacific Street," which might be a viable option, though it typically involves a fee. The park's integration into the Harbor Point development also means it's accessible via the complimentary Harbor Point trolley service, connecting various residential and office buildings to the Stamford Transportation Center and downtown, offering a convenient alternative for those living in the broader Harbor Point community.

The park generally operates from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. daily, "weather permitting," providing ample hours for both early morning and late evening visits. This extended schedule makes it flexible for various routines and lifestyles, solidifying its role as a practical and accessible resource for Stamford's dog owners.

Features / Highlights

Harbor Point Dog Park boasts several key features that make it a compelling choice for dog owners in Stamford:

  • Comprehensive Agility Course: A significant highlight is the robust collection of eight agility equipment pieces, all reported to be "in good shape." This offers an excellent opportunity for dogs to engage in stimulating and challenging physical activity.
  • Dual Surface Play Area: The park uniquely features both "pea stone" and "astroturf" surfaces. This variety provides different textures for play and potentially helps with drainage and cleanliness in an urban setting.
  • Size-Specific Enclosures: The clear separation of "small dog section" and a larger general area (implied for large dogs) is a crucial safety feature, allowing dogs to play with appropriate companions and reducing potential stress.
  • Convenient Hydration Access: The presence of a "water tap and bowl" ensures that dogs can easily get a drink, which is especially important after vigorous exercise. Reviews suggest this is available during "non freezing seasons."
  • Proactive Waste Management: The readily available "Dogi Pot waste bags and trash can" highlight the park's commitment to maintaining a clean and hygienic environment for all users.
  • Central Urban Location: Its placement within the vibrant Harbor Point neighborhood makes it easily accessible for local residents, fitting seamlessly into an urban lifestyle.
  • Community Amenity: Described as "decent for a city park" and a "nice small dog park," it effectively serves its purpose as a dedicated and valuable community resource.
Promotions or Special Offers

As a public dog park managed as part of the broader Harbor Point development, Harbor Point Dog Park typically does not offer commercial promotions or discount specials in the traditional retail sense. Its primary "offer" is providing a free, accessible, and well-maintained public space for the community's dogs.

However, the Harbor Point neighborhood itself, which encompasses the dog park, is known for fostering a vibrant community through various events and partnerships. These events can often be considered informal "offers" that enhance the dog park experience for locals:

  • "Yappy Hour" Events: Harbor Point frequently hosts "Yappy Hour" gatherings at or near the dog park. These events often feature "pupsicles from Harbor Pets and wine samples from Harbor Point Wines & Spirits," creating a social atmosphere for both dogs and their owners. These are often complimentary, though RSVPs may be requested.
  • Harbor Point Advantage Card: Residents and visitors to Harbor Point may be able to access the "Harbor Point Advantage Card," which provides discounts at various local businesses within the neighborhood. While not directly for the dog park, these could include pet-related businesses or food and beverage establishments nearby for a post-park treat.
  • Community-Organized Pet Events: Local animal welfare organizations, pet stores, or community groups within Stamford might occasionally use the park for events such as adoption days, pet first aid workshops, or breed-specific meet-ups.
  • Seasonal Activities: The Harbor Point development regularly schedules a comprehensive calendar of events, including live music, outdoor exercise classes, and festivals, many of which are dog-friendly or implicitly encourage dog owners to attend with their leashed pets in surrounding park areas.

To stay informed about these kinds of community events and any potential indirect "offers" that enhance the dog park experience, locals are encouraged to visit the official Harbor Point website (harborpt.com/happenings), check their social media channels (@HarborPointStamford), and consult local Stamford community calendars or pet-focused event listings.

A nice small dog park. Half of the park is grass with the other part gravel. There are 8 dog agility equipment: A-frame, dogwalk, teeter-totter, weave poles, jump, a couple pause tables, and a short tunnel. All of the equipment is in good shape. Dogi Pot waste bags and trash can are provided along with a water tap and bowl. The park also has a couple of benches for the humans 😉

Smaller than the Stamford Dog Park but super great for pups that like to run around and play. There's also a smaller fenced in area across the street that has just grass instead of gravel like this one.

We had such a lovely experience here. So many sweet puppies and their people. Candy had a great time. We will be back

Looks like a lot of fun for small and medium size dogs who know what to do on the equipment. Not sure that equipment is big enough for 80lb dog. Has a clever little foyer/ double gate / mini courtyard to facilitate getting in and out with your dog. The space has a rounded gravel surface a good choice I think.
