Welcome to Fillmore Dog Park
For dog owners across California, finding a dedicated space where their canine companions can freely run, play, and socialize is a valuable part of pet ownership. In the charming city of Fillmore, nestled in Ventura County, residents have access to the Fillmore Dog Park. This park aims to provide an off-leash environment for dogs, offering a place for exercise and interaction within the local community. This article will provide an overview of Fillmore Dog Park, detailing its location, what it offers, and important considerations for a safe and enjoyable experience for all California dog lovers.
Fillmore Dog Park serves as a designated area for dogs to be off-leash, allowing them to burn energy and engage with other dogs. As part of the broader recreational offerings in Fillmore, it provides a fenced space designed for canine activity. The park is often viewed as a convenient option for local residents, providing a nearby spot for daily dog walks and play sessions.
However, based on recent customer reviews, prospective visitors should be aware of some important considerations. Feedback indicates that while the park provides a basic fenced area, its overall aesthetic and perceived safety might vary. Some users describe it as a "dusty lot with a fence around it," noting a lack of inviting features or a vibrant atmosphere. There have also been mentions of safety concerns due to the presence of homeless individuals and a general sense of unease when visiting alone. This highlights the critical importance of situational awareness and personal judgment for visitors. Despite these challenges, the park offers the fundamental infrastructure of an off-leash area, and for those living very close by, its proximity can be a convenience. The City of Fillmore does manage local parks, and ongoing improvements to public spaces are always a possibility, reflecting a community's evolving needs.
Fillmore Dog Park is located in Fillmore, CA 93015, USA. While the provided address is a general city and zip code, local public records and community information indicate that Fillmore Dog Park is part of the city's overall park system. Some sources suggest it is associated with or near Two Rivers Park or other community green spaces.
Accessibility to Fillmore Dog Park for vehicles may involve street parking, as dedicated, large parking lots are not consistently highlighted in available information. Visitors should be prepared to find parking along adjacent streets or in public parking areas if the dog park is part of a larger complex. For residents of Fillmore, its location within the city means it is likely easily reachable by car, and possibly by foot or bicycle for those living in nearby neighborhoods. As a local city park, it is intended to serve the immediate community, making convenience a key aspect for those living within Fillmore. However, given some of the comments from reviews, visitors should be mindful of their surroundings and plan their visit during times when they feel most comfortable and safe. The simplicity of its location, being directly within Fillmore, offers a distinct advantage for locals seeking a quick and convenient spot for their dogs.
- Fenced Off-Leash Area: The primary service offered is a designated, fenced-in area where dogs are permitted to run and play freely without a leash, allowing for exercise and interaction.
- Space for Canine Play: The park provides an open ground area for dogs to run, chase, and engage in various forms of play.
- Kid-Friendly Proximity: While not a service of the dog park itself, some reviews mention a children's play area or a swimming spot ("kids love to swim behind the dog park") nearby, suggesting it's part of a larger family-friendly recreational zone.
- Basic Fencing: The presence of a fence around the area helps contain dogs, which is a fundamental safety feature for an off-leash park.
- Fenced Enclosure: The park's main feature is its perimeter fence, which provides a defined and (in principle) secure area for off-leash dog activities.
- Local Convenience: For residents living in Fillmore, the park's location within the city offers a convenient nearby option for dog exercise without needing to travel far.
- Potential for Future Improvement: The expressed desire from locals for the park to be "better, inviting, and prettier" highlights its potential for future enhancements and a community interest in its development.
- Proximity to Other Amenities: The mention of children swimming behind the park suggests it might be situated near other recreational facilities, making it a possible stop within a broader family outing.
- Open Space for Running: Despite descriptions of its condition, the park still offers an open area where dogs can stretch their legs and run freely.
As a public park managed by the City of Fillmore's Parks and Recreation Department, Fillmore Dog Park does not typically offer commercial promotions or special discounts for entry, as access is generally free to the public. The primary "offer" is the provision of a free, designated off-leash area for dogs in the community.
However, the City of Fillmore's Parks and Recreation Department often organizes various community events, programs, or initiatives that might be relevant to dog owners or take place in local parks. These could include pet-friendly community gatherings, local festivals, or clean-up days where volunteers are encouraged. While these are not direct promotions for the dog park itself, they contribute to the overall vibrancy and resources available to the community. To stay informed about any such city-sponsored activities, temporary park closures for maintenance, or other relevant announcements, it is advisable for locals to check the official City of Fillmore website's Parks & Recreation section or their community event calendars. Any improvements to the park's aesthetics or amenities would also be considered a beneficial "offer" to the community.

The kids love to swim behind the dog park. I like to watch all the pups!
May 21, 2025 · DianaNo one and no dogs were there except a homeless person. Did not feel safe as I was alone with my two year old.. it’s also just a dusty lot with a fence around it. Very eerie and very depressing. I was so bummed because it’s so close to where I live and I would come here so much if it was better, inviting, and prettier!
Feb 14, 2024 · Courtney FerranteStopped on the way through to give the dogs a break. Easy access, large area, and fully furnished. All dirt though, so the pups tracked dirt into the car.
Nov 16, 2020 · Mike BetzerIt says 24 hours, but I showed up at about 10am and it was closed
Aug 30, 2024 · eliborio camachoRubble pit... I agree with Alfred waste of funding for an inappropriate facility. No shade, no grass or even a softer area of dirt...
