The De Pere Dog Park stands as a highly valued local amenity, offering a dynamic environment where dogs can run, play, and socialize off-leash amidst a mix of open fields and natural woodlands. Opened in August 2011, this park has quickly become a favorite, providing "endless pawsobilities" for dogs of all sizes and energy levels.

Whether your dog loves to sprint across open fields, explore winding wooded trails, or tackle agility obstacles, De Pere Dog Park has something to offer. Its welcoming atmosphere, combined with thoughtful amenities, makes it a frequent destination for responsible dog owners. This comprehensive guide will walk you through everything you need to know about this excellent Wisconsin dog park, from its location and features to important operational details.

Introduction / Overview

The De Pere Dog Park is a well-established and highly-regarded off-leash dog exercise area, thoughtfully designed to cater to a variety of canine needs. Spanning six acres of fenced-in space, the park provides ample room for dogs to socialize, explore, and expend energy in a safe and secure environment. It cleverly combines flat, open grassy areas – perfect for throwing a ball for distance – with more natural elements, including wooded trails that invite adventurous sniffing and exploration.

A key aspect that sets this park apart is its dedication to providing options for all dogs. It features distinct areas for large and small dogs, ensuring that more timid or petite pups can play comfortably without feeling overwhelmed. Furthermore, the inclusion of agility and exercise equipment offers stimulating activities for dogs who enjoy a challenge. Reviews from regular visitors often highlight the friendly demeanor of both the dogs and their human companions, contributing to a positive and welcoming community atmosphere that makes every visit a pleasant experience.

Location and Accessibility

The De Pere Dog Park is conveniently located at 1400 Biotech Way, De Pere, WI 54115, USA. This address places it in a accessible area of De Pere, making it easy for residents from various parts of the city and surrounding communities to reach. Ample paved parking is available on-site, which is a significant convenience for visitors, even though it's near what can sometimes be a busy intersection.

The park is open for use from 6:00 AM to 10:00 PM, seven days a week, offering broad flexibility for dog owners' schedules. Whether you're looking for an early morning romp or an evening stroll after work, the extended hours provide plenty of opportunity. It's important to remember that dogs must remain on a leash when entering and exiting the park, only to be unleashed once safely inside the designated fenced areas. This adherence to park rules ensures the safety and enjoyment of all park users.

Services Offered

The De Pere Dog Park is committed to providing a comprehensive off-leash experience, supported by a range of services and amenities:

  • Six Acres of Fenced-in Space: The primary service is a secure, expansive area where dogs can legally and safely roam off-leash.
  • Separate Large Dog Area: A designated section for larger dogs allows them ample space to run and play with peers of similar size and energy.
  • Separate Small Dog Area: A dedicated, fenced-off zone is available for smaller dogs, ensuring a safe and comfortable environment away from more boisterous play.
  • Agility and Exercise Equipment: Various obstacles and equipment are provided, offering stimulating activities for dogs and opportunities for training or just fun.
  • Wooded Trails: The park features scenic wooded trails, perfect for peaceful walks and exploration, adding a diverse natural element to the open fields.
  • Water Access: Water is available for dogs, which is a crucial amenity. However, be aware that the water fountain is typically shut off seasonally (e.g., in October for winter). It's always a good idea to bring your own water, especially during colder months or if the fountain is not operational.
  • Open Air Shelter: A covered shelter provides a place for owners to take a break from the elements.
  • Benches and Picnic Tables: Numerous seating options are scattered throughout the park, allowing owners to rest and observe their dogs.
  • Waste Bag Bins and Disposal Bins: Waste bag dispensers and trash receptacles are provided to encourage and facilitate proper waste disposal, contributing to the park's cleanliness.
  • Portable Restrooms: For human visitors, a portable toilet is located in the parking lot.

Promotions or Special Offers

The De Pere Dog Park operates as a public amenity provided by the City of De Pere and, as such, does not typically offer commercial "promotions" or require paid permits for entry. This makes it a free-to-use resource for all responsible dog owners in Wisconsin, a significant benefit for locals and visitors alike.

While direct fees for park access are not currently stated, it's crucial to understand the responsibilities of dog ownership within the City of De Pere. All dogs over five months of age residing in De Pere are required to have an annual municipal dog license, obtained through the City Clerk's office. This license ensures compliance with local ordinances, including rabies vaccination requirements, and contributes to the overall safety and health of the canine community. Visitors from outside De Pere are generally expected to comply with their home municipality's licensing and vaccination laws.

The park's operation and future improvements are supported partly by community donations. There are opportunities to make voluntary contributions at a "donation box" at the park, or through larger donations for naming rights of amenities. These donations go directly into a fund dedicated to park enhancements, representing a continuous "offer" of community support that helps maintain and improve this valuable public space.

It's a very flat park, which is nice for throwing a ball for distance. I've been told there are trails and a pond on the other side of the small wooded area that is there.

The dogs love this place. They have large and small fields with agility equipment and a beautiful wooded area in the large dog section where they can run on the trails. Free park but please leave a donation. Enjoy!

Great park!! Love the layout how the dogs can follow around or make their own trials thru the woods! While the humans can take a stoll around the outside trail and see ducks in the creek or squirls climbing trees. Prob one the best of the best parks in the area in my opinion. We try and come as much as we can when we have have an or more to kill!? Highly recommend!

Beautiful dog park with variety of play areas for your dog. Sadly the dog owners at the dog park changed since I was here with my last dog a few years ago. I am here currently-9/8/2024 with my 6 month old GR for the first time. 3 big dogs in the small dog area, I couldn’t go in there which would have been perfect for my dogs size & age. We tried the big dog area where I only saw 2 dogs-a friendly GR & medium size pitbull. We went in & the 2 dogs came right over but then the pitball jumped on my dog right away & I kept yelling for the owners to get their dog off mine. Unfortunately they were both deaf & not watching their dog. The owner of the GR was very kind & helpful. I got out of the park as quickly as I could. Very very upsetting for me not to be able to enjoy either side of the areas because of bad owners.
