Took my little guy to the small dog park for the first time. Nothing but a field with a concrete path. Did have one shaded sitting area and several benches around the park. No dog wash but not really necessary because there is no pond. Do have cooling stations and water fountains. Will I return? Nah... there are others in the area I'm going to check out.

Services Offered

The Beverly Kaufman Dog Park focuses on providing fundamental necessities for an off-leash dog park experience. While it may not offer extensive amenities found in larger, more developed facilities, it covers the basics to ensure a functional space for dogs and their owners.

  • Dedicated Off-Leash Area: The primary service is providing a designated, fenced area where dogs can run freely without a leash, allowing them to expend energy and socialize naturally.
  • Separate Areas for Small and Large Dogs: The park includes distinct sections for different dog sizes. This separation helps ensure that smaller, more timid dogs can play safely without being overwhelmed by larger, more boisterous breeds, and vice-versa.
  • Cooling Stations: Given the warm Texas climate, the park is equipped with cooling stations. These are designed to help dogs stay hydrated and prevent overheating, though the functionality of all stations can vary.
  • Water Fountains: Drinking water is available for dogs via water fountains. These are crucial for keeping pets hydrated during their playtime, although the consistency of water flow and drainage might be variable across all stations.
  • Benches and Seating Areas: For the comfort of human visitors, the park provides several benches and at least one shaded sitting area where owners can relax and observe their dogs.
Features / Highlights

Beverly Kaufman Dog Park offers a series of features designed to facilitate a pleasant, albeit straightforward, dog park experience. These highlights contribute to its function as a community resource for local dog owners.

  • Open Field Layout: The park primarily consists of an open field, providing ample space for dogs to run, chase, and play fetch. This expansive area is ideal for dogs who love to sprint and need a large space to exercise.
  • Concrete Path: A concrete path winds through the park, offering a clean walking surface for owners and a clear boundary for dogs. This can be particularly useful for those who prefer not to walk directly on the grass or dirt.
  • Shaded Sitting Area: Despite general feedback about limited shade, the park does include at least one designated shaded sitting area. This spot offers a crucial respite from the Texas sun for owners.
  • Secure Fencing: The entire park is securely fenced, providing a safe environment for off-leash play. This allows owners peace of mind, knowing their dogs are contained within the designated area.
  • Friendly Community: A consistent highlight mentioned by visitors is the friendly atmosphere, with both pets and people being welcoming and sociable. This fosters a positive environment for dog and owner interactions.
  • No Pond: Unlike some other dog parks, Beverly Kaufman Dog Park does not feature a pond. For owners who prefer to keep their dogs clean and dry, or whose dogs are not keen on swimming, this can be a beneficial feature.

I had hoped this would be a great new spot for my dog. The people and dogs are friendly but there is little if any shade. We went on a cloudy and windy day so it was pleasant but on a normal Texas day it would be unbearable. There are only four water drinking stations for the dogs and one didn't put out more than a small drip of water and the others wouldn't drain so they had filthy standing water that who knows how long it had been there. So sad that I will still have to drive to the other side of town to get to a decent dog park. No dog washing station No adequate drinking water No shade Friendly pets and people

I liked that it was as pretty big for my small pugs but the only thing is that there was no shower station like the other dog parks I’ve seen before and no small dog section in case you see a lot of dogs but when we went we were the only ones there so can’t complain about that

I absolutely love this dog park for my greyhound. We frequent here often, and there's enough room for her to run and interact with the 1 or 2 other humans/their pack of dogs that might show up while we are here. Plenty of open space for her to really run. 1/2 mile paved walking trail for the humans. There are graciously spaced poo bag receptacles & waste bins. Plenty of gazebos w/benches, and several open air benches for relaxing. This is the cleanest, most well maintained dog park I've been to in all of TX/OK/TN. The fence is 6ft, and solid/well maintained. I always bring water with me to avoid the communal drinking fountains/watering bowl combos. Everyone's always friendly, and so are the dogs. Hidden gem for those that don't want to entertain the busier dog parks.

I would NOT recommend this dog park given there is no dog pools or good hydration for your dog. They have these ridiculous cooling showers (see pix) that someone thought would be enjoyable for your dog to sit under. The dog fountains are dismal as well. To help understand my ratings I’m comparing this park to Mary Joe Peckham in Katy Proper.
