Clean, well-maintained, with access to fresh water on both the large dog and small dog sides of the park until the winter months. Doggy bag dispensers are refilled and trash bins emptied regularly. Very friendly members - both the humans and the dogs. There is parking behind the water treatment plant as well as off the Post Road. Nearest restrooms for the people are located at the village Parks and Recreation offices. It’s great to be able to bring your kids to enjoy the park - e.g., soccer, baseball, tennis, etc. and exercise your dog in the dog park. A limited number of fobs for non-village residents are available this year. I hope they all get taken up so that more fobs will be made available next year!

Welcome to Bark Park - off leash dog park
For dog owners across Westchester County, New York, finding a dedicated and well-appointed space for their furry companions to run, play, and socialize is an essential part of responsible pet ownership. Bark Park, the off-leash dog park situated within the scenic Harbor Island Park in Mamaroneck, NY, has quickly become a beloved destination. Located at Harbor Island Park, Mamaroneck, NY 10543, USA, this facility offers a clean, well-maintained, and vibrant environment where dogs can truly be themselves, and their human counterparts can connect with a friendly, like-minded community. It stands out as a prime example of a community amenity that prioritizes the well-being and happiness of its four-legged residents.
The importance of off-leash dog parks like Bark Park cannot be overstated in a densely populated region like New York. They provide a crucial outlet for dogs to expend energy, practice social skills with their peers, and receive mental stimulation that is often difficult to replicate in a backyard or on a leash walk. Regular visits to a dog park contribute significantly to a dog's physical health, helping to maintain a healthy weight and improve agility, while also fostering good behavior by addressing boredom and excess energy. For locals in Mamaroneck and beyond, Bark Park represents a valuable resource, enhancing the quality of life for both pets and their owners by offering a safe, engaging, and welcoming space for canine recreation.
Bark Park is conveniently located within the expansive and popular Harbor Island Park, situated at Harbor Island Park, Mamaroneck, NY 10543, USA. This prime waterfront location makes it easily accessible for residents of Mamaroneck and neighboring Westchester communities such as Larchmont, Rye, and New Rochelle. Harbor Island Park itself is a well-known landmark, featuring various recreational facilities, which adds to the overall appeal of visiting the dog park.
Accessibility to Bark Park is facilitated by available parking options. Visitors can find parking behind the water treatment plant as well as off the Post Road, offering flexibility and convenience for those driving. While there is an annual fee for dog park access, typically via a key fob system, the presence of parking is a significant advantage. The integration of the dog park within a larger recreational area means that owners can combine a visit to Bark Park with other family activities within Harbor Island Park, such as soccer, baseball, or tennis, making it a versatile destination for the entire household. Nearest restrooms for human visitors are conveniently located at the Village Parks and Recreation offices within the park.
Bark Park provides a range of essential services and amenities designed to ensure a comfortable, safe, and enjoyable experience for all its users:
- Separate Play Areas: The park features distinct, fenced-in sections for both large dogs and small dogs. This crucial separation helps ensure safer play dynamics and caters to the varying energy levels and play styles of different-sized canines.
- Access to Fresh Water: A highly appreciated amenity, fresh water is available on both the large dog and small dog sides of the park. This vital service ensures dogs stay hydrated during playtime, although it's important to note that the water source may be turned off during winter months.
- Regularly Maintained Cleanliness: The park is consistently described as "clean" and "well-maintained," with "doggy bag dispensers" that are regularly refilled and "trash bins emptied regularly." This commitment to cleanliness is paramount for a hygienic and pleasant environment for both pets and humans.
- Fob Access System: Access to Bark Park is managed via a key fob system, which helps regulate usage and ensures that only registered, licensed dogs are entering the facility. This system contributes to the safety and overall management of the park.
Bark Park stands out among dog parks in the region due to several notable features:
- Exceptional Cleanliness and Maintenance: The consistent positive feedback on the park's cleanliness and diligent maintenance, including replenished waste bags and emptied bins, is a major highlight, setting a high standard for canine recreation.
- Thoughtful Separation of Dog Sizes: The provision of dedicated large and small dog sides demonstrates a commitment to safety and appropriate play, allowing dogs to interact with peers of similar size and temperament.
- Convenient Water Access: The availability of fresh water fountains within both sections of the park is a significant convenience, eliminating the need for owners to carry large water bottles, especially during warmer months.
- Welcoming and Responsible Community: The park boasts "very friendly members - both the humans and the dogs," fostering a positive and welcoming social environment that encourages new visitors and strengthens local bonds.
- Integrated Recreational Hub: Being part of the larger Harbor Island Park means owners can combine their dog's exercise with other family activities like soccer, baseball, or tennis, making it a versatile destination for the whole family.
- Controlled Access for Quality Assurance: The fob system, while requiring registration and a fee, helps ensure that dogs using the park are licensed and that owners are generally responsible, contributing to a safer and more enjoyable experience for all.
As a municipal facility operated by the Village of Mamaroneck Parks and Recreation Department, Bark Park does not typically offer traditional commercial promotions or discounts. Its "special offer" is the provision of a high-quality, well-maintained dog park.
However, access to the park does involve an annual fee and a key fob system. For Village of Mamaroneck residents, the annual dog park admission fee (key fob) is $26.00, in addition to dog license fees (e.g., $24.00 for spayed/neutered dogs). For non-residents, access is also available, with an annual key fob fee of $100.00 (as of a recent resolution), and proof of dog license in their respective jurisdictions is required. There is a cap of 75 non-resident key fobs per year. This controlled access helps manage the park's capacity and ensures quality. Lost key fobs may incur a replacement fee of $16.00.
From time to time, the Village of Mamaroneck Parks and Recreation may host community events within Harbor Island Park that are dog-friendly, such as pet adoption drives or park cleanup days. Residents interested in such opportunities should consult the Village of Mamaroneck's official Parks & Recreation website or local community calendars.
