We have had the best experience here. Yoan and Monica are truly the best with all their animals. We are new bird owners and started with parakeets. Yoan would see me come every week & I would buy two more birds until my husband made me stop. Now he is just in love with these feathered loves that we went back and bought a pair of cockatiels. Amazingly friendly love attention and are absolutely beautiful!! They are completely spoiled!! I could never go to another pet shop, as we see Monica and Yoan as our extended family now. We appreciate their knowledge, their customer service and overall hospitality and kindness to us and their animals.

Yoan & Son Pet Shop Introduce

Yoan & Son Pet Shop, located at 7746 W Hillsborough Ave in Tampa, FL, serves the local community as a "Pet Store Near Me," offering a selection of live animals and pet-related products. The available customer reviews present contrasting experiences, highlighting both positive interactions and significant concerns regarding animal welfare and health.

One customer shared a highly positive experience with Yoan & Son Pet Shop, describing it as the "best experience" they have had. They specifically praised Yoan and Monica, identifying them as exceptionally caring towards their animals. As new bird owners, this customer started with parakeets and frequented the shop weekly, purchasing additional birds until their husband intervened. This suggests a readily available stock of parakeets and a welcoming atmosphere that encouraged repeat visits. Subsequently, they returned and acquired a pair of cockatiels, which they found to be "amazingly friendly," loving attention, and "absolutely beautiful." The reviewer expressed such satisfaction that they declared they "could never go to another pet shop," viewing Yoan and Monica as "our extended family now." They specifically appreciated their knowledge, customer service, and overall hospitality and kindness towards both the customers and the animals.

Conversely, another customer shared a deeply negative experience and strongly advised others to avoid the store. This reviewer believes their late cockatiel was purchased from Yoan & Son Pet Shop in December 2020 and tragically died just two months later, likely due to an illness, as there were no other apparent causes despite proper care. This raises concerns about the health of the animals sold at the store and the potential for underlying illnesses. Upon a subsequent visit to the store (their first and only time in person), this customer reported observing that "the birds were crowded in small cages." Overcrowding can be a significant stressor for birds and can contribute to the spread of diseases.

Furthermore, this negative review mentioned the purchase of yellow-bellied slider turtles, all of which reportedly died within months. This further compounds the concerns about the health and viability of the animals sold at Yoan & Son Pet Shop. While acknowledging that their current cockatiel, also believed to have been purchased from the same store, has been doing well for the past three years, this positive outcome is overshadowed by the earlier negative experiences and the observation of crowded conditions. The strong concluding statement, "Do not go here. Please," underscores the severity of this customer's negative assessment.

Considering these two diametrically opposed reviews, it is difficult to provide a definitive description of the environment at Yoan & Son Pet Shop. One account suggests a caring environment where birds are hand-fed, while the other describes crowded cages. These conflicting observations could indicate inconsistencies in the store's practices or different conditions at different times. The cleanliness of the cages is not explicitly mentioned in either review.

The services offered at Yoan & Son Pet Shop appear to primarily involve the sale of live animals, specifically birds (parakeets, cockatiels, and potentially other types) and turtles (yellow-bellied sliders). The positive review implies that the staff, particularly Yoan and Monica, offer guidance and support to new pet owners, demonstrating knowledge about the animals they sell. The repeated purchases by the satisfied customer suggest a consistent availability of birds. However, the negative review raises concerns about the quality of care provided to the animals and the potential for selling unhealthy pets.

Features of Yoan & Son Pet Shop, based on the reviews, include its family-run nature (as implied by "Yoan & Son" and the mention of Yoan and Monica). The positive reviewer highlighted the friendly and helpful customer service, as well as the perceived knowledge and care of the owners towards their animals. The variety of birds available also seems to be a feature that attracted at least one customer. However, the negative review points to potential issues with overcrowding and the sale of unhealthy animals as significant negative features.

There is no information regarding any promotional offers or specific products beyond live animals mentioned in the provided reviews. Therefore, it is not possible to comment on any current specials or the range of pet supplies they might stock.

In conclusion, Yoan & Son Pet Shop in Tampa, FL, is a local pet store specializing in the sale of birds and turtles, among other potential animals. The customer reviews present a divided perspective. One customer experienced exceptional service and care, developing a strong positive relationship with the owners and being very satisfied with their purchases. However, another customer reported the loss of two pets shortly after purchase, citing potential illness and observing crowded conditions for the birds. These conflicting accounts suggest that potential customers should exercise caution and consider visiting the store to assess the environment and the health of the animals firsthand before making any decisions. The significant concerns raised in one of the reviews warrant careful consideration.

I believe that this is where my mom bought my late cockatiel back in December of 2020. She died 2 months after we got her, likely from a sickness since there were no signs of anything else, and she had been given proper care. I was devastated. When we came back (my first and only time in person) the birds were crowded in small cages. The yellow-bellied slider turtles we bought also all died within months. My current cockatiel was also bought from here it seems, but luckily he has been doing well for the past 3 years. Do not go here. Please.

Place was very friendly, clean and organized All of the birds were very calm , seemed happy and looked healthy.. another pet store we went to right after actually spoke very highly of this shop and said he and his son take amazing care of their pets and have great prices.. If that doesn't say enough for itself.. would recommend!!

These birds are literally being abused. The cages are so overcrowded it’s sickening. Most birds hanging onto the walls of the cage because there isn’t enough perches. No enrichment. Water is dirty, food just scattered. I wondered in looking for a new friend and the owner was so rude it made the experience worse, answering every question with “I don’t know” .. no way I wasn’t going to leave a review. A literal bird mill. Heartbreaking to me that anyone is supporting this business!!!!!!!!! I hope all of those poor babies find good homes.

The store itself was nice, very clean and organized. I have shopped around for a while trying to find the right place to purchase from, and the reviews for this place made me think this was it. I was very excited to purchase my cockatiel, and things went great while there to make a purchase. The problem started after leaving the store. My sweet bird passed away after 9 days. When I reached out to the owner she mentioned they only have a 24-48 refund policy (I was not even asking for a refund, I was trying to understand how this could happen after only 9 days). She also would not tell me if the birds there are batch tested, she instead accused me of neglect. I am very unhappy with my experience with this pet shop, and I would be VERY CAUTIOUS before purchasing a new friend here.
