Unleashed by Petco

I'd never written a Google review before today, but the clerk gave me the absolute worst check out sales experience I have ever had. The workers here are young, arrogant, and intermittently helpful - it's always a crap shoot of being helped or getting an eyeroll. Today one of the sales people (female, pale, long brown hair) at checkout simply would not take no for an answer while trying to hard sell me on VitalCare. Extremely tone deaf, since I'd just asked her to make sure the food I was buying was Clearance and a smarter associate would've realized I was trying to save money, not add to my bills. She pitched that getting less than 20% off of purchases would be worth spending an extra $25/month per animal for Vitalcare. When she started pushing, I told her I already had pet insurance. She said there was a difference between preventative & emergency care. I said I knew, but my cats are healthy. I explained the cost and that I didn't need it. She tried again, then tried to push me to buy it for at least one of my cats. I refused over and over, as she seemed more and more fed up with my refusal. At one point she condescendigly asked, "You do know there's a difference between preventative and emergency care?" Finally, the system finished and I could leave. I thanked her and told her I didn't know why she was mad at me. She immediately denied it and said, "We're just talking." This is a convenient enough Petco, and I've been going there for pet supplies for at least 4 years, but this may be the final straw. I've heard their manager is just as disrespecful as this clerk, so while I hope this review improves their sales training, I'm not going to hold my breath.

The staff is always helpful. The selections and variety of different foods, supplements, attire, and treats is always ample. I often find new and improved products when I’m there. The store is dog-friendly (on-leash, of course) and it’s very too crowded. Again, I have to mention how great the staff is. I have always received top notch customer service and support by knowledgeable and friendly staff members.

I take my silly Willow up there for her monthly baths and they always say she's a sweetie, which is she is! They take good care of my doggo and make she sure she's comfortable, clean, and soft as ever. Thanks, everyone!

I would highly recommend going to any other pet store. We have gone to this Unleashed location a couple of times and the whole store smells horrible. I know pet stores don't smell the best, but this is way beyond your average pet store smell. We went for the self-wash. The first time was alright... my five-year-old had fun but the wash sinks were filthy and there was water everywhere. I understand that this is a public wash... but it looked like it had not been attended to or cleaned all day. But it was bearable. But today will be the last time we ever go to this store. My five-year-old and I showed up at 6:20 PM. The store closes at 7:00 PM. We literally said we stopped by to give our dog a quick bath. And we are told the baths close at 6:30 PM. I point out that nowhere is that posted in store, online, or on their website. I said I can give my dog a bath in 10 minutes... but they still said no... Saying the water shits off at 6:30 PM. I asked to talked to the manager. Amanda (the store manager) came out and told me they close the baths at 6:00 PM. I pointed out that nowehere is that posted and that the other employee told me 6:30. She said they already cleaned the bath area for the night... but there were other people still bathing their dogs (and by this time it was after 6:30 PM and the water was not shut off). I explained that we drove all the way over and really could give our dog a bath very quickly and asked if she could make an exception. And she said no. She made my five-year-old cry. He cried all the way out the store and all the way home. Even if they did clean the area... she could have easily just said "Sure. Go ahead. No problem. We are open for 40 more mins. In fact, I will clean it myself when you are done." Honestly, that was how I was raised and exactly what I would have done. But she said no. Because she didn't care. She made my kid cry because she didn't care. And it would have been so easy to care just a little bit and do the right thing. I really don't blame Amanda. Unleashed is a PetCo product and this is sadly what we have all come to expect from PetCo and their employees... Corporate employers and employees who just don't care. I will be taking my busy local. There are plenty of great local pet shops that would be happy to have the business... even if their stores were closing in 40 minutes.

Love this place. I live around the corner and I’m sooo thankful this is our local spot bc it’s so convenient. The employees are friendly and have listened to my needs and recommended products. The self wash station for dogs is only $20 and you get a secure bath area + a brush, shampoo, conditioner, towels, and use of the industrial blow dryers. My experience with the Vetco techs for my dog’s shots was a breeze. They were so kind and supportive. Asked me lots of questions about my dog but were also super efficient. They all had a great attitude. The dog grooming for my large dog starts around $50, which is significantly cheaper than the local groomers. My dog always wants to stop in when we walk past. That’s a green flag in my book! He obviously has good associations with this place and wants to go back. I never really had an opinion about big box pet stores before but this specific location is great.
