I LOVE this store, I can’t say enough great things about TCR. I am a pretty regular customer and all the employees are so knowledgeable and happy to help answer any questions or provide recommendations. The gal who often works at the checkout (sorry— I don’t know her name!) is my favorite— so kind and wonderful with the animals! You can tell they really care a lot about all the creatures they keep. I can’t recommend this store enough, it’s a gem. Thanks for all you do! My frogs thank you, too. :)

Welcome to Twin Cities Reptiles
For reptile enthusiasts in St Paul, Minnesota, Twin Cities Reptiles, located at 2363 University Ave W, is a local option within the "Pet Store Near Me" category specializing in reptiles and related supplies. Customer reviews offer a mixed perspective on this store. While some patrons praise the wide selection of animals and products, the knowledgeable and helpful staff, and the evident care for the creatures displayed by some employees, a significant concern is raised regarding the living conditions of certain animals within the store.
The environment of Twin Cities Reptiles, according to one positive review, fosters a sense that the employees "really care a lot about all the creatures they keep." This suggests that at least some areas of the store are maintained with attention to the animals' well-being. The same reviewer also noted the staff's willingness to help answer questions and provide recommendations, indicating a customer-focused approach within the store environment. However, a contrasting review paints a concerning picture of the animal enclosures, describing them as "tiny." This suggests a potential issue with space constraints for some of the reptiles housed at the store. The reviewer also observed snakes attempting to escape their cages, interpreting this as a sign of unhappiness or hunger. These conflicting accounts highlight a potential inconsistency in the standards of animal husbandry within the store environment.
The services offered by Twin Cities Reptiles primarily revolve around the sale of reptiles and related supplies. One positive review mentions a "very wide selection," indicating that customers can likely find a variety of reptile species, potentially catering to different levels of experience and interest in reptile keeping. The knowledgeable staff are also a key service, providing valuable information and guidance to customers, whether they are beginners or experienced herpetoculturists. This assistance can be crucial for ensuring the proper care of the reptiles purchased. The store also likely sells a range of reptile supplies, including enclosures, heating and lighting equipment, substrates, hides, water dishes, and food. The mention of "live mice kept in drawers" indicates that the store also sells live feeder animals, a common food source for many reptiles.
A key feature of Twin Cities Reptiles, as noted by a satisfied customer, is the wide selection of reptiles available. This can be a significant draw for enthusiasts looking for specific species or a variety of options. The knowledgeable staff are another important feature, offering expertise and support to customers. The positive sentiment towards the employee at the checkout, who is described as "so kind and wonderful with the animals," suggests a genuine passion for reptiles among at least some of the staff members. However, the concerning review regarding the "tiny enclosures" and the behavior of the snakes points to a potential systemic issue with animal welfare that overshadows these positive aspects for some customers. The practice of keeping live mice in drawers stacked on top of each other also raises ethical questions about the care and housing of feeder animals.
The conflicting reviews present a challenge in objectively assessing the overall quality of Twin Cities Reptiles. While some customers have positive experiences with the selection and staff, the serious allegations regarding the living conditions of the reptiles cannot be ignored. Potential customers who prioritize animal welfare may find the descriptions of small enclosures and escape attempts to be significant deterrents. It is important for prospective buyers to consider both the positive feedback regarding selection and staff knowledge and the negative feedback concerning animal husbandry practices when evaluating this store.
The provided information does not include any details about specific promotional offers or loyalty programs at Twin Cities Reptiles. Reptile stores may occasionally have sales on certain species, discounts on specific supplies, or offer package deals for starter kits. To learn about any current promotions or special offers, local residents are encouraged to contact Twin Cities Reptiles directly at (651) 647-4479 or +1 651-647-4479 or visit their location at 2363 University Ave W, St Paul, MN 55114. They may also have information available on their website or social media platforms, if they maintain an active online presence.
In conclusion, Twin Cities Reptiles in St Paul offers a wide selection of reptiles and appears to have knowledgeable staff who are appreciated by some customers. However, significant concerns have been raised regarding the adequacy of the enclosures for some of the animals and the conditions in which they are kept. Potential customers should be aware of these conflicting reports and may wish to visit the store to assess the conditions for themselves before making a purchase. For those prioritizing animal welfare, the negative review presents serious considerations that should not be overlooked. For those primarily focused on selection and staff knowledge, the positive feedback may be more relevant. A balanced perspective requires acknowledging both the strengths and the reported weaknesses of Twin Cities Reptiles as a "Pet Store Near Me" specializing in reptiles.

Feb 26, 2025 · Kate Elwoodvery wide selection, decent customer service, but it is unforgivable, the conditions they keep their animals in. tiny enclosures, some snakes were trying to wedge open the cages, they are obviously unhappy or very hungry and desperately wanting to escape. imagine being trapped in a single room for days, let alone months or years. live mice kept in drawers all stacked on top of each other. do better.
Feb 17, 2025 · Emerson Nayar-BahrWell I was in search for some dune scorpions and I was in luck that they had two in stock, first time I have heard of this place I was excited to check out the store, and I was shocked with all the reptiles and landscape items for terrariums.. I will be returning to this place.
Dec 31, 2024 · Jason SweetBeat reptile store around, by far. Extensive assortment and a highly knowledgable staff.
Apr 03, 2025 · GaryI've spent considerable time and money in here getting setup for and bringing home a ball python for my son. Such a cool place to spend time in with all the breathtaking reptiles on display. I've also found the mammals (Nick, Sage, and Jeff) extremely helpful.
