I wish this store had been around when I first started the hobby seven years ago! The Fish Barn is immaculately clean, well-organized, and offers a fantastic selection of small, healthy fish. The tanks are expertly maintained, and it’s clear the staff know what they’re doing—they’re knowledgeable, passionate, and eager to help. I’ll definitely be returning in the future and highly recommend this shop to both beginners and experienced aquarists. Orinda is lucky to have a place like this!

Extremely friendly and helpful staff. They make sure the fish are healthy by doing a proper quarantine prior to selling them. Reasonable prices. Although the store is tiny, they are well stocked and knowledgeable. By far The Fish Barn is my favorite aquarium store in the Bay Area

First time visiting today. AJ was so welcoming and eager to help, and J was super helpful and I got exactly what I needed. Plants, substrate, and a beautiful piece of wood. Well kept shop with great selection and healthy fish! You can really tell they are interested in not only making the customer happy, but also finding the best homes for their fish. Awesome! So happy to discover this nice aquarium store. Small, but packed with fish not sold at big chains. Owner bought some of closed Albany Aquarium tanks and stays connected that previous owner. I found Cardinals! So happy. Definitely my go to store now. Easy drive from Oakland. Orinda West exit to small shopping area. Free parking. Support this big but small independent aquarium store.
