Rewriting this review(old one was a little rude). Grooming staff is aloof and rude, like it’s a Sunday stroll in the park. I was shooed away from walking into the grooming office after not seeing anyone at their desk/table and needing help. (understandable they could’ve been handling business in the back) Mind you I had no animals in that office with me, but when I entered I was shooed away with hand motions by one of the employees. Granted there was an owner and animal in office but the signs stated only one animal at a time. I decided to ignore the rudeness and ask my questions about availability. I was answered with a blank stare and one word answers. Manchester staff is a little more friendly and welcoming.

Petco Introduce
For pet owners in Hooksett, New Hampshire, and the surrounding Merrimack County area, Petco, located at 190 Quality Dr, presents itself as a "Pet Store Near Me" offering a range of pet supplies and services, including grooming. Customer reviews provide a somewhat mixed perspective on the service quality at this particular location, with notable discrepancies between experiences with the grooming staff and other employees. One reviewer initially described the grooming staff as "aloof and rude," likening their demeanor to a leisurely "Sunday stroll in the park," suggesting a lack of urgency or attentiveness to customer needs. This customer recounted an instance where they approached the grooming office, having not seen anyone at the desk, to seek assistance. While acknowledging that the staff might have been occupied with animal care in the back, the reviewer felt unfairly treated when they entered the office (without any pets) and were "shooed away with hand motions" by an employee. Although there was reportedly an owner and animal present in the office at the time, the reviewer noted that signs indicated "only one animal at a time," implying their brief entry should not have been met with such a dismissive reaction. Following this negative initial interaction with the grooming staff, the same customer decided to inquire about grooming availability. Unfortunately, this interaction was also unsatisfactory, with the staff member allegedly responding with a "blank stare and one word answers," indicating a lack of helpfulness or willingness to engage with the customer's questions. This reviewer explicitly stated that the staff at the Petco location in Manchester were "a little more friendly and welcoming," suggesting a potential inconsistency in customer service quality across different Petco stores in the region.
In contrast to this negative experience with the general grooming staff, another customer shared a completely positive interaction with a specific groomer named Kristen and a cashier. This reviewer explicitly stated that Kristen (the groomer) and the cashier who assisted with the purchase of a ball for their dog treated them with "no less than excellent service!" They were so impressed that they felt this level of service was likely the standard way these employees treat all customers. For this reviewer, finding a trustworthy groomer for their dog was particularly significant as they had recently moved to New Hampshire from Northern Vermont and had been "hard-pressed for an excellent groomer." They expressed surprise and delight at finding such a groomer, Kristen, at their local Petco in Hooksett. This positive feedback highlights the potential for excellent service within the store, particularly with specific individuals, and underscores the relief and satisfaction of finding reliable pet care services in a new location.
Based on these reviews, the environment of the Petco in Hooksett, NH, appears to have some inconsistencies in customer service, particularly within the grooming department. While some staff members, like Kristen and the cashier mentioned, are capable of providing excellent and friendly service, other members of the grooming staff are perceived as aloof and rude, potentially creating a negative experience for customers seeking grooming services. The retail area of the store, where the cashier provided excellent service, may have a more welcoming atmosphere. However, the negative interaction at the grooming office suggests a potential issue with staff demeanor or customer service protocols in that specific department. The physical layout of the grooming area includes an office or desk that customers might approach for assistance, but there may be specific rules or protocols regarding entry, especially when animals are present. The overall environment might be typical of a large pet retail chain, with aisles of various pet supplies, but the quality of customer interaction seems to vary depending on the staff member encountered.
The services offered at this Petco location likely include the retail sale of a wide variety of pet food, treats, toys, and other supplies for different types of animals. The presence of a grooming department indicates that professional grooming services for dogs (and possibly other animals) are also available. The positive review about Kristen suggests that standard grooming services such as haircuts, bathing, and nail trims are offered. The negative review implies that customers may need to inquire about grooming availability and potentially schedule appointments through the grooming staff. The cashier's helpfulness in assisting with a purchase indicates that standard retail services are provided at the checkout. Given that Petco is a national chain, this location likely also offers other common services found in their stores, such as a Vetco clinic for veterinary care, adoption events in partnership with local shelters, and potentially training classes for pets. However, the provided reviews do not specifically mention these additional services at this particular Hooksett location.
Several features of this Petco in Hooksett are highlighted in the reviews, both positive and negative. A potential negative feature is the reported rudeness and lack of helpfulness from some members of the grooming staff. Another potential issue is the inconsistent customer service compared to other Petco locations in the region (Manchester). On the positive side, a significant feature is the presence of excellent and trustworthy employees like the groomer Kristen and the helpful cashier, who provide exceptional service and build customer trust. The convenience of finding a reliable groomer at a local pet store is also a notable feature for pet owners new to the area. The availability of both retail pet supplies and grooming services in one location offers convenience for pet owners.
The contrasting customer experiences at the Petco in Hooksett, NH, present a nuanced picture for potential shoppers. While there are reports of rude and unhelpful behavior from some grooming staff members, there is also strong positive feedback regarding the excellent service provided by specific individuals like the groomer Kristen and a helpful cashier. For pet owners seeking grooming services, it might be prudent to specifically request appointments with groomers who have received positive feedback. For general pet supply needs, the positive interaction with the cashier suggests that helpful service can be found within the retail section of the store. However, the inconsistency in service quality, particularly within the grooming department, is something to be aware of. New residents to the area specifically seeking a groomer might find Kristen to be a valuable resource based on the positive review.
The provided reviews do not contain any specific information about promotional offers at the Petco in Hooksett, NH. As a national chain, Petco typically has ongoing promotions on various products and services across all its locations. These might include discounts on specific brands of pet food, special offers on toys or treats, or promotions related to their grooming or veterinary services (Vetco, if available at this location). They often have a loyalty program (Petco Pals Rewards) that offers members discounts and rewards. To learn about any current promotions, including those specific to grooming services or the Vital Care Premier plan (mentioned in another Petco location's review, so potentially available here as well), local pet owners in Hooksett are encouraged to visit the store at 190 Quality Dr, check the Petco website (www.petco.com), or contact them directly at (603) 626-8257 or +1 603-626-8257.
In conclusion, Petco in Hooksett, New Hampshire, offers a "Pet Store Near Me" with a somewhat inconsistent customer service experience, particularly within its grooming department, where some staff have been described as rude and unhelpful. However, the store also has employees like the groomer Kristen and a helpful cashier who provide excellent service and build trust with customers. For pet owners in the Hooksett area, it may be beneficial to seek out specific employees who have received positive feedback, especially for grooming services. The store offers the convenience of both retail pet supplies and grooming in one location, and like other Petco stores, likely has access to national promotions and loyalty programs.

Mar 14, 2025 · Suspect del FuegoKristen (groomer) and the person that helped me purchase a ball for my dog (cashier) treated us with no less than excellent service! As if that's the way they treat all their customers. It was a great experience for me to be able to trust a new groomer for my dog. Just moving to NH from Northern VT, we were hard-pressed for an excellent groomer. Imagine my surprise at finding her at our local Petco!
Nov 01, 2024 · Wesley MosherThey were super helpful and non-judgmental. Also, they had isopods add springtails for a very reasonable price for my ball pythons bioactive enclosure. I think it was $10 for 15 of them.
Mar 26, 2025 · MichaelI am a frequent flyer at Petco and I’ve had multiple fish tanks in my life and never once have. I been told that I can’t have, not have i had any problems with tetra fish in my tank with my betta. i had only lost fish in the process of moving, and i have 2 tetras in my tank, and if you know anything about tetras, my tank is nicely planted with live plants as well. they should not be in a school less than 5. being turned down by Lynne and not even suggesting I get less, but none was very disappointing. She was on the phone, and even if it was a work call, she was preoccupied and very much rude to me. they present sorority tanks with tetras in different kinds. with different species around them chilling. this sucked and really put a damper on my night
Dec 18, 2024 · Maddie BThe poor cats are in small boxes against the coroner of the walk when you walk in. They have no space and are up against a wall. There is no toys in the bins or beds and there was throw up and poop. Also no litter boxes get this place shut down.
