This review is not for Petco. It is for an Organization called Cat Habitat located inside the store. Cat Habitat is a perfect place to adopt a cat or kitten! I did, and we all still love our cat, Moon after a few years of having her. 😸 This is a non profit organization ran by our Wonder Woman, Char! She does an amazing job and everything comes out of her pocket to make sure these babies are well taken care of. So when you see the adoption fee, REMEMBER, Char paid to fix them, deworm them, she paid to microchip them, she paid for their food and any other necessities they still need. She's not making a dime off of the adoption. Your adoption fee goes right back to her so she can bring in a new cat who needs the same love and care as the one you adopted. Highly recommend!

Petco Introduce

For local residents in Homewood, Illinois, searching under the category "Pet Store Near Me," the Petco located at 17930 Halsted St presents a multifaceted offering as a large national pet retail chain. Based on the available customer reviews, this particular Petco location not only functions as a standard pet supply store but also hosts an independent cat adoption organization known as Cat Habitat within its premises. This unique combination suggests that customers visiting this Petco can find a wide array of pet-related goods while also having the opportunity to adopt a cat or kitten in need of a loving home. However, it is important to note that customer experiences within different departments of this Petco location appear to vary significantly, as highlighted by the contrasting reviews.

One review provides a glowing recommendation for Cat Habitat, an organization operating inside the Homewood Petco: "This review is not for Petco. Highly recommend!" This detailed account portrays Cat Habitat as a dedicated and ethical non-profit cat rescue operating within the Petco store. The reviewer emphasizes the ease and positive outcome of their adoption experience, highlighting the ongoing love for their cat, Moon, adopted through this organization. The review strongly praises Char, the individual running Cat Habitat, for her tireless efforts and personal financial investment in the well-being of the cats. It clarifies that the adoption fees are reinvested directly into the care of other rescue cats, covering essential medical procedures, food, and other necessities. This positive feedback positions the Homewood Petco as a valuable local resource for those looking to adopt a cat or kitten and support a dedicated non-profit rescue organization.

In stark contrast, another review details a negative experience within the fish department of the same Petco store: "This people don't have a clue what they are doing a guy starts to help with some fish is wanted to buy them he sent a girl to re do the test for the water parameters and she uses a strep to test and tells me a total bunch of nonsense and the first guy had told me that everything was fine except for the ph was acceptable but needed to go up a little long story short the girl try to sell me products that I don't need and she refuses to sell me the fish and I went to a professional fish shop and everything was good they got me some really good quality healthy fish don't waste your time and money here." This account raises concerns about the knowledge and service provided by some staff members in specific departments. The reviewer describes receiving conflicting information about water parameters, being given what they perceived as inaccurate test results ("nonsense"), and feeling pressured to purchase unnecessary products. The refusal to sell the fish, followed by a positive experience at a "professional fish shop," suggests a significant discrepancy in expertise and customer service. This negative feedback indicates that while one aspect of the Homewood Petco (Cat Habitat) receives high praise, other departments may not consistently meet customer expectations.

As a national chain, Petco stores typically offer a wide range of pet supplies for various animals, including dogs, cats, fish, reptiles, birds, and small animals. These supplies generally include pet food, treats, toys, bedding, grooming tools, health and wellness products, and enclosures. Many Petco locations also offer services such as pet grooming, veterinary clinics (often third-party), and dog training. However, the provided reviews for the Homewood location do not explicitly mention grooming or in-house veterinary services. The presence of Cat Habitat as a partner organization is a notable feature of this specific store.

The environment of the Homewood Petco is only partially described through the reviews. One reviewer mentions the presence of Cat Habitat within the store, suggesting a designated area for cat adoptions. The other reviewer's negative experience in the fish department implies a section dedicated to aquatic pets and their supplies. The cleanliness and overall organization of the store are not explicitly commented upon. As a large retail chain, Petco stores generally aim for a standardized and accessible environment for shoppers.

The services at this Homewood Petco include the sale of a wide variety of pet supplies. Additionally, it hosts the cat adoption services of Cat Habitat. Based on the negative review, assistance is provided to customers in the fish department, although the quality of this service was questioned. It is unknown if this location offers other common Petco services like grooming, veterinary care, or training.

The features of this Petco in Homewood, IL, include its comprehensive range of pet supplies typical of a large chain store and the unique presence of Cat Habitat, a non-profit cat adoption organization operating within the store. The convenience of being able to shop for pet supplies and potentially adopt a cat in the same location is a notable feature. However, the reported inconsistencies in staff knowledge and customer service in at least one department (fish) should also be considered by potential customers.

There is no information provided in the reviews regarding any specific promotional offers or discounts currently available at this Homewood Petco location. As a national chain, Petco frequently offers various promotions, sales, and loyalty programs. Local users are advised to check the official Petco website or contact the store directly at (708) 206-0639 or mobile phone at +1 708-206-0639 to inquire about current promotions, sales events, and any loyalty programs that might be available.

In conclusion, for local residents in Homewood, Illinois, searching for a "Pet Store Near Me," the Petco at 17930 Halsted St offers a wide selection of pet supplies and uniquely hosts the Cat Habitat adoption organization, providing an opportunity to adopt cats and support a local non-profit. However, customer experiences may vary across different departments, as indicated by the negative review concerning the fish department. Potential customers should consider their specific needs and the type of pet or supplies they are seeking when visiting this Petco location and may benefit from directly contacting the store for information about specific products or services.

Dr. Q and her staff are amazing. I’m gonna continue to go there and I would definitely recommend her to family and friends to take their pets there. The times that I’ve been there if something you can’t afford at that very moment she always has a second recommendation that is cheaper. So yes, I do recommend her 100%

I visit this location since it’s the nearest to home however, today was rhetorical worse experience. I went in there attempting to pick up an online order with my dog. I’m standing at the cashiers and staff comes around the corner bumping into my dog. My dog reacted and reached for her oversized shirt. I immediately apologize however she right away was upset and asked me to leave. Before picking up I walked around the store for about 20mins. My dog was not aggressive to others and on his leash he was wearing a message ā€œI need spaceā€ since he is training. My daughter waited for the order however the staff was making negative comments about my dog to the other staff and customers. I was immediately asked to leave however staff did not realize my dog only reacted to her behavior. I always take my dog and never have I had such an incident like this one. Staff needs to take a step back and replay that footage to see she bumped into my dog and ignored the message on his leash.

I love this petco. And it has everything to do with their staff. Every time I go in it's a pleasant experience. But today I saw some amazing work. I was waiting to be checked out and saw one of the groomers get bit very badly by a husky. She handled it so well and just pet the dog and reassured him. And I mean it was a bad bite. She did amazing and deserved some recognition.
